Chapter 167 Jade’s Whereabouts
Chapter 167 Jade’s Whereabouts
Meanwhile.
In the abandoned warehouse, the light was dim.
Jade hung suspended from the rafters, her hands bound tightly with coarse rope, her entire body dangling in the air.
Her wrists were already raw and bloody, blood trickling down her arms and pooling in a small puddle on the floor below.
Her lips were cracked beyond recognition, her face pale as paper.
She felt like her blood was almost drained.
If this continued, she would die here.
No...
She couldn't die.
Jade gritted her teeth, mustering every ounce of strength to struggle.
But the rope was tied too tightly. The more she struggled, the more it cut into her flesh.
The blood flowed faster.
Her consciousness began to blur, darkness creeping into her vision.
No...
She couldn't pass out.
If she passed out, she'd never wake up.
Jade took a deep breath and opened her mouth, trying to call for help.
But her throat was parched, and the sound that emerged was barely a whisper.
No one could hear it.
This warehouse was too remote. There wasn't a soul around.
Wilma had deliberately chosen this place to leave her helpless.
Tears streamed down Jade's face.
She felt her body growing lighter and lighter.
No...
She couldn't die.
She still had to avenge her father!
Jade's eyes snapped open. Using her last shred of strength, she screamed.
"Help!"
That single cry took everything she had.
The sound was hoarse and piercing, echoing through the empty warehouse.
After that scream, her body went limp, her head dropping heavily.
She didn't know if it was her imagination.
She thought she heard footsteps.
Was someone there?
Had someone come?
Jade wanted to lift her head to look, but she didn't even have the strength for that.
"Is someone in there?"
A man's voice called out.
Someone was really there!
Joy surged through Jade. She wanted to respond, but when she opened her mouth, no sound came out.
"Anyone there?"
The footsteps grew closer.
Then the warehouse door was pushed open.
Light flooded in, so bright Jade couldn't open her eyes.
"Oh my God!"
A young man in a delivery uniform stepped inside. Seeing Jade hanging from the rafters, his face went white with shock.
"Are you okay?"
He rushed over and struggled for a long time before finally untying the rope around Jade's hands.
Jade's body went slack, falling straight down.
The young man reacted quickly, catching her.
His hands met warm, sticky wetness.
Blood.
The young man's hands trembled.
In all his life, he'd never seen so much blood.
"Hang on! I'll get you to a hospital right away!"
He held Jade and started toward the exit.
"Wait... wait..."
Jade weakly opened her eyes and grabbed his sleeve.
Her voice was faint, barely a breath.
"What is it?" The young man stopped and looked down at her. "What do you need?"
"Help me... make a call..."
"Skylar..."
"Please... call her..."
Tears fell from Jade's eyes, her voice breaking. "Only she can save me... only her..."
"Okay, okay, don't get worked up. I'll call right now!"
The phone rang a few times before being answered.
"Hello?"
The young man spoke quickly. "Hello, is this Skylar Sterling?"
"Yes, this is she. Who's calling?" Skylar's voice carried confusion.
"Ms. Sterling, I'm a delivery driver. I just passed by an abandoned warehouse and found a woman hanging from the rafters, covered in blood, barely alive!"
The young man spoke rapidly. "She asked me to call you. She said you could save her!"
There was silence on the other end for a few seconds.
Then Skylar's voice shot up. "What did you say? What's her name?"
"I don't know her name." The young man looked down at Jade in his arms. "She's very weak right now. She can barely speak."
"Is her name Jade?" Skylar's voice was urgent.
"I think so..."
It was Jade!
Skylar's heart clenched.
She'd been searching for days, and Jade had been strung up in a warehouse, bleeding out!
How could Wilma be so vicious!
"Where are you right now?" Skylar forced herself to stay calm, asking quickly. "Give me the exact location."
"I'm on the west side of the city, in an abandoned warehouse. I can't give you the exact address, but there's a scrap yard nearby..."
The young man looked around as he spoke, trying to find some kind of landmark.
"Okay," Skylar took a deep breath and made a quick decision. "Don't worry about the address. Call an ambulance immediately and get her to the nearest hospital. I'll cover the costs."
"I'm coming right now. Send me your bank account number. I'll transfer ten thousand dollars right away for medical expenses and your trouble. I'll make up the difference when I get there."
"Huh? That's..." The young man was stunned.
Ten thousand dollars?
That much?
"Don't hesitate—saving her is what matters!" Skylar's voice was firm. "Call the ambulance first, then send me your account number. I'll transfer the money immediately."
"Okay, okay, got it!"
The young man snapped back to reality. Now wasn't the time to worry about money.
He hung up and immediately dialed 911.
After giving the address, he sent Skylar his bank account number.
Less than two minutes later, his phone buzzed with a bank notification.
Ten thousand dollars had been deposited.
The young man felt a wave of emotion.
This Ms. Sterling was seriously efficient.
He looked down at Jade in his arms and silently prayed.
He hoped this woman would pull through.
Meanwhile.
At the wedding venue.
Skylar hung up the phone, her expression darkening instantly.
Jade...
Jade had been tortured like that.
Wilma was an absolute monster!
"What's wrong?"
Reuben noticed her distress and walked over, asking quietly.
"They found Jade." Skylar looked up at him, anxiety in her eyes. "But she's badly hurt. Someone strung her up in a warehouse to bleed her out. She's barely alive."
"A delivery driver just found her and called me."
Reuben's expression darkened as well.
"Wilma did this?"
"Who else could it be?" Skylar bit her lip, her hands trembling slightly. "Jade has evidence against her. She must have been afraid Jade would testify, so she did this."
"I need to get to the hospital right now."
She started to leave.
"Wait." Reuben caught her arm. "I'm coming with you."
He could see how panicked Skylar was.
At a time like this, he couldn't let her go alone.
"But..." Skylar glanced at the guests around them. "Can we just leave like this?"
After all, this was Travis's wedding. Leaving without a word seemed inappropriate.
