Chapter 165 It’s All Travis’s Fault
Chapter 165 It’s All Travis’s Fault
"I'll say it one more time." Travis's eyes were ice-cold. "It's none of your business."
With that, he turned and strode away.
Chloe stood alone, her face cycling between pale and flushed.
The surrounding guests were stunned.
What... what just happened?
How could the groom just walk out like that?
Wasn't this his wedding?
Guests exchanged bewildered glances, murmuring amongst themselves.
"What's going on? Why did the groom leave?"
"Who knows? Looks like they had a fight?"
"On their wedding day, though..."
"I think I heard them mention something about another woman..."
Listening to the whispers around her, Chloe felt her face burning.
Humiliating!
That bastard Travis!
At their own wedding, in front of all these guests, he'd embarrassed her!
All for that Amber?
Chloe bit her lip, nails digging into her palms.
She'd see for herself what was so special about this Amber.
Special enough to make Travis abandon his bride at their own wedding!
Chloe took a deep breath, suppressing her fury, and walked toward Wilma and Amber.
Amber was arguing with Wilma when she spotted Chloe approaching. A cold smirk curved her lips.
Well, well. Here comes the main event.
"Oh, if it isn't the blushing bride." Amber's tone dripped with mockery. "Why aren't you up front with your groom? What brings you to our corner?"
Chloe looked her up and down coldly. "You're Amber?"
"So what if I am?" Amber's face was defiant. "What, Travis never mentioned me?"
Chloe's expression grew colder.
So it was her!
"I'm warning you." Chloe's voice was sharp. "Stay away from Travis."
"He's my husband now. Not someone you can covet."
"Covet?" Amber scoffed. "Ms. York, get your facts straight."
"Travis and I were together long before you even knew he existed."
"You—" Chloe was too angry to speak.
Amber watched her flustered reaction with immense satisfaction.
What?
Can't handle it already?
What would she do when things got worse?
"What, cat got your tongue?" Amber sneered. "Ms. York, let me give you some advice."
"Don't be a fool who gets sold and then helps count the money."
"What do you mean?" Chloe frowned.
"What do I mean?" Amber raised an eyebrow, deliberately drawing out her words. "You don't actually think Travis married you because he loves you, do you?"
"You do know why he divorced Skylar, right?"
Chloe's frown deepened.
"If you have something to say, say it. Stop playing games." Chloe's voice was cold.
"Playing games?" Amber laughed until tears nearly formed. "I'm not playing games."
"I just think you're pathetic."
"Kept in the dark, completely clueless, thinking you married a good man."
"What are you trying to say?" Chloe's expression darkened. "Spell it out!"
"Spell it out?" Amber leaned in closer, lowering her voice. "Do you know why I ended up like this?"
"The reason I'm in this state today is all thanks to Travis."
Chloe's eyes widened.
Thanks to Travis?
What did that mean?
"You're talking nonsense!" Chloe snapped. "I know exactly what kind of man Travis is!"
"Just because you have no shame doesn't mean you can drag Travis through the mud!"
"Drag him through the mud?" Amber's laugh was bitter. "If you don't believe me, come with me."
"I'll show you some things. After you see them, you'll know exactly what kind of man Travis really is."
Chloe hesitated.
She looked at Amber, wavering.
Could Travis really be hiding something from her?
Impossible...
They were already married. Why would Travis need to hide anything?
But Amber seemed so certain. It didn't look like she was lying.
What... was really going on?
"What, too scared?" Amber saw her hesitation. "I thought you were tough. Turns out you're just a coward."
"Too afraid to even take a little walk with me?"
"Or maybe you already know the truth and just don't dare face it?"
"Who are you calling a coward!" Chloe exploded at the provocation.
"Fine! Let's go! I want to see what tricks you're trying to pull!"
"Perfect." A triumphant smile curved Amber's lips. "But—"
She paused, glancing at the bodyguards behind Chloe. "You can't bring your security."
"Why not?" Chloe frowned.
"Why?" Amber scoffed. "What, are you that scared of me?"
"Or are you afraid I'll sell you off?"
"Let me tell you, those few bodyguards of yours don't intimidate me in the slightest."
"If you're really that much of a coward, forget it. Pretend I never said anything."
"Who's scared!" Chloe shot back immediately. "Fine! I won't bring them!"
She didn't believe for a second that in broad daylight, Amber could do anything to her.
Besides, this was a wedding venue. So many guests were watching.
What could Amber possibly try?
"One more thing." Amber added, "Turn off the tracker on your phone too."
"I don't want anyone interrupting us later."
Chloe hesitated.
Turn off the tracker...
Wasn't that too risky?
"What, scared already?" Amber goaded her again. "You were so tough just a minute ago."
"Guess you're all talk after all."
"Fine, I'll turn it off!" Chloe lost her rationality, pulling out her phone and disabling the location tracker.
"Happy now?"
After completing these actions, Chloe looked at Amber.
Mission accomplished. Amber's smile deepened.
"Of course."
"Ms. York, after you."
With that, she headed toward a side exit of the ballroom.
Chloe took a deep breath and followed.
She'd see exactly what game Amber was playing.
Not far away, Skylar had witnessed everything.
She frowned, watching Chloe follow Amber out, unease stirring in her chest.
Amber was ruthless and capable of anything.
Chloe rushing off with her like this—could something happen?
Though she and Chloe weren't close, and Chloe had even targeted her before.
Still, this was a human life.
That lunatic Amber—who knew what she might do.
Skylar frowned, conflicted.
Should she... warn Chloe?
But then again, knowing Chloe's personality, she probably wouldn't listen.
She'd probably just assume Skylar had ulterior motives.
