Chapter 268 Liking Him Is Not Wrong
Just as David couldn't accept this speculation, Andrew's phone suddenly rang.
He glanced down at the caller ID, then instructed David, "Drive."
David didn't dare ask more questions.
The phone had been ringing for a while. Just before the ringtone ended, Andrew pressed the answer button and asked coldly, "What is it?"
As the car slowly started moving, Andrew's gaze turned toward the hotel once more.
In the dim interior of the car, the emotion in his eyes was unclear.
Meanwhile, after Olivia brought Bianca back to their room, she spent a long time trying to comfort her.
She thought she could brush it off like before, but this time nothing worked.
Finally, Bianca cried herself out and fell asleep in a daze.
Olivia tucked her in, lay down beside Bianca, and stayed awake all night.
She hadn't expected to be affected this much.
Bianca couldn't bear to part with Andrew because she saw him as a father figure, which was understandable.
But what about herself?
If she had heard tonight that Daniel, or anyone else, was getting married, would she feel this upset?
No, she would only wish them well.
At this moment, Olivia finally realized that her feelings were all wrong.
Why did she treat Andrew differently when it came to the same situation?
Could it be that she had feelings for Andrew...
No, that couldn't be possible.
As soon as the thought appeared in her mind, Olivia completely rejected it.
She had always known that the gap in their social status was huge.
So all along, her feelings toward Andrew had been mostly gratitude.
Although Evelyn and others around her always liked to joke and tease her about it.
Olivia had always been clear that she never dared to have those kinds of feelings for Andrew.
She knew her place—how could she dare to have such thoughts about someone like him?
Besides, after going through an unhappy marriage, she should be cautious and resistant, always afraid of getting involved in so-called romantic feelings again.
What's more, Andrew's status was extraordinary.
All these factors proved that nothing could happen between them.
But now, she realized that she had wavered after all.
But this was wrong...
Andrew was getting engaged.
The one who would stand beside him in the future was another girl.
She had seen her tonight—she had great presence, was beautiful, and came from a matching background. Anyone would say they were a perfect match.
Not someone like her.
Olivia sternly warned herself in her mind, waiting for her emotions to gradually calm down.
Because of severe insomnia, she couldn't sleep, so she simply changed her flight.
Originally scheduled for 10 a.m., she changed it directly to 7 a.m.
At dawn, she packed everything up and took Bianca straight back to Emerald City.
However, she didn't know.
At 7 a.m., Andrew came to the hotel looking for her and Bianca.
He had come specifically to take them to the airport.
But when he arrived at the hotel, the front desk told him, "The guest in room 806 checked out around 5 a.m. and has already left."
Hearing this, Andrew was rarely caught off guard.
Had she left?
David, standing behind him, was also quite surprised.
Didn't Olivia say yesterday that her flight was at 10 a.m.?
He instinctively looked at Andrew's expression.
Andrew's face showed no emotion. He turned and left the hotel, immediately calling Olivia.
After the call connected, he asked directly, "Why did you leave early? You didn't tell me—is there some emergency?"
Olivia had already gotten home by then.
Hearing Andrew's words, she hesitated for two seconds, then made up an excuse, "Yeah, the research institute urgently needed a set of data, so I came back early. I didn't have time to tell you, sorry."
The uneasy feeling in Andrew's heart seemed to dissipate again.
He replied without suspicion, "Good that you got back safely."
Olivia continued, "I need to get to work, talk later."
Their conversation ended there.
As soon as Olivia put down her phone, she met Evelyn's suspicious gaze.
As if she had seen through something.
Olivia tried to stay calm as she looked at her and asked, "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Evelyn rested her chin on one hand, looked at her and shook her head, saying mysteriously, "Something's off, Olivia. You're acting strange! Bianca's acting strange too. Come clean—what happened on this trip to Harmony City? And why did you just lie to Mr. Hamilton?"
Olivia hadn't wanted to say anything.
But considering their future situation, she felt it was better to clarify some things.
At least, she couldn't let Evelyn keep joking about them anymore.
Taking advantage of Yara taking Bianca and little Lightning downstairs for a walk, Olivia told Evelyn about Andrew's engagement.
After hearing this, Evelyn looked shocked too.
Olivia actually witnessed something like this?
She even saw his supposed fiancée.
"Okay, I get it. If that's the case, then I definitely can't make those kinds of jokes anymore. Dating is one thing, but we're not about to be homewreckers." Saying this, Evelyn still felt concerned and looked at Olivia. "Olivia, you seem so down today. Is it because Bianca's hard to comfort, or is it something else? Like, do you care that he's getting engaged to someone else?"
Olivia hadn't expected her to ask so directly. Her expression froze for a moment. "I... don't."
Evelyn nodded and said seriously, "You don't? I think you do!"
Under her direct gaze, Olivia couldn't hold steady.
She said in a dazed tone, "I've actually been trying really hard to control it, but I didn't expect... Evelyn, I know I shouldn't feel this way."
Hearing her tone, Evelyn felt like her heart was being squeezed too.
Especially seeing Olivia's cautious manner, she felt even worse.
She patted Olivia's shoulder and consoled her, "Stop overthinking. Actually, falling for Andrew is the normal thing, isn't it? Think about it—when someone's at their lowest point, and such an amazing person suddenly appears and rescues you from the depths. No matter how calm you try to stay inside, it's impossible to remain unmoved. We're just ordinary people with normal emotions. Never mind you—even I would fall for him. Olivia, liking someone isn't a crime. You're so good, so excellent—you deserve all the good things! People can't fall into the same pit twice. You've escaped a bad marriage, and now you have the right to pursue new happiness. You can't keep thinking you're not good enough or don't deserve it. You're now the heiress of Medica Vitae Sect. How many people will never achieve what you have in their entire lives? You're already amazing!"
Having known her for so many years, Evelyn understood her mindset very well.
Of course, Olivia's insecurity was also related to Andrew's extraordinarily high status and position.
But Evelyn never thought Olivia was lacking in any way.
Just like she said, Olivia was so excellent—she could have anyone she wanted!
Olivia knew that no matter what, Evelyn would always support her.
So she didn't continue with this topic and instead brought up Bianca.
She said with some worry, "What I'm more concerned about now is her. You have no idea how long I spent trying to comfort her last night."
She looked at Evelyn uncertainly and asked, "Do you think Bianca will gradually accept this?"
Evelyn was an outsider who could see everything clearly.
She comforted her, "Take it slow. She definitely will. From now on, I won't mention Mr. Hamilton in front of her either. Eventually, she'll let go."
Though she said this, Evelyn still felt heartbroken for both Olivia and Bianca.
During this time, she had witnessed firsthand how happy they were when spending time with him.
If only they could really be with Andrew—how wonderful that would be.
But they just didn't have that fate.
She looked at the exhaustion on Olivia's face, figuring she hadn't slept well all night because of this.
Evelyn said to her, "Don't think about it so much. Go get some sleep first. I'll help watch Bianca."
Olivia didn't refuse her kindness. After washing up, she went to rest.
She thought she still wouldn't be able to sleep, but after sitting on a plane for several hours and staying up all night, her body was too tired. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.
When she woke up, Rodolfo called her, sounding somewhat unhappy. "Why did you go back so quickly? You didn't even tell me."
Olivia touched her nose and explained quietly, "Weren't you busy? I had work too, so I just sent Simon a message."
Afraid Rodolfo would ask too much and discover something, Olivia quickly changed the subject and asked him, "Are you settling in okay there?"
Rodolfo didn't suspect anything. Hearing her question, he replied, "It's okay. The workload isn't heavy in the early stages, so I'm not too busy."
"Mm." Olivia listened while reminding him, "Take care of your health and don't overwork yourself. Let your subordinates handle what they can—don't try to do everything yourself. Your health has just recovered."
Seeing her start to nag, Rodolfo felt warmth in his heart and quickly said, "Okay, I know!"
After chatting on the phone for a while, they hung up.
When Olivia came out, she didn't see Bianca and asked Yara about it.
Yara smiled and replied, "Ms. Thomas took Bianca out to play."
"Oh, okay." Olivia didn't worry about it and took the opportunity to go to the research institute.
In the evening, Evelyn called her and said, "Bianca and I made a restaurant reservation. I'll pick you up for dinner in a bit!"
She wanted to take this chance to get her out and cheer her up a bit.
"Okay." Olivia agreed and went to meet them.
Unexpectedly, shortly after entering the restaurant, she ran into the Johnsons.
More precisely, she ran into Sophia and her son, along with Amelia.
They were also there for dinner.
The two were walking and talking, looking quite close.
Olivia was somewhat surprised.
If she remembered correctly, their relationship had started to fall apart because of what Sophia had done.
Now they were on good terms again?
Evelyn followed her gaze and also noticed the two of them.
She leaned close to Olivia's ear and whispered, "There's something you might not have heard—Sophia's pregnant!"
After hearing this, Olivia was somewhat surprised. "She's pregnant?"
"Yeah." Evelyn nodded. "After the incident with Mr. McCoy, the Johnson Group was implicated. Their entertainment company underwent restructuring, which had a huge impact. The artists under the company were all affected, and the Johnson Group's stock price plummeted. Apparently, Hayden and Amelia were furious and almost threw Sophia out. That's when Sophia produced her pregnancy test results—she was already over a month along."
