Chapter 116 Fell into His Arms
Sophia was eager and pressed herself against Michael.
But unexpectedly, Michael showed no reaction at all.
She looked up suspiciously, only to see Michael with his eyes closed, leaning back against the sofa—he had fallen asleep.
Sophia was in disbelief, nearly dying of frustration.
Such a perfect opportunity, and he had passed out drunk?
Because of this situation, all her emotions were extinguished, leaving only anger. She didn't even feel like taking care of Michael.
In the end, she could only call Finn to come take care of Michael.
Finn saw that she didn't want to deal with it and said nothing, just called out for a servant, "Briar, come help."
A young maid quickly responded.
Although Andrew had temporarily stopped Bianca's treatment, Olivia still arranged to meet him over the weekend.
Layla's treatment was coming to an end, and today was the final test.
She had the people at the White Villa invite Layla's boyfriend, Rufus Chapman, in advance.
To know whether Layla was completely cured, they could only have the two of them interact in person.
Before starting, Stella was anxious and asked Olivia, "Are you sure nothing will go wrong? Maybe... we should do more treatment?"
Olivia understood their feelings and gently reassured them, "From what I've observed, her symptoms should have completely disappeared. Let's see the test results first."
Though Stella and Paxton trusted her medical skills, they still couldn't help feeling nervous.
Andrew spoke up, "Trust Dr. Garcia's judgment. She's a professional and won't make mistakes."
These words gave her the greatest affirmation and trust.
Olivia glanced at Andrew, smiled, and then had Layla and Rufus interact.
After nearly a month apart, Layla and Rufus hadn't seen each other. Now, finally reunited, they were naturally both very excited.
Olivia reminded them from the side, "Start with slow contact, beginning with holding hands, then hugging. If there's no discomfort, it means the previous stress reaction has completely disappeared."
Layla obediently followed her instructions.
Rufus also looked nervous and serious.
Following the requirements, they proceeded step by step, their fingertips finally touching.
Olivia observed Layla's condition and asked, "What do you feel? Give me feedback immediately."
Layla said right away, "I don't feel uncomfortable at all, and I'm not having trouble breathing."
Olivia nodded, indicating they should continue.
Layla continued deeper contact with Rufus until they embraced. Layla's face remained rosy, with no discomfort.
She looked at Olivia with bright eyes, "I still don't feel any discomfort. Does this mean I'm completely cured?"
Olivia smiled and nodded, "Yes, congratulations!"
"That's wonderful... I'm finally better." Layla jumped up with joy, then threw herself at her boyfriend Rufus, "Rufus, did you hear? I'm cured! From now on, I can hold hands with you freely, do things couples do—we don't have to break up..."
As she said this, her eyes reddened.
Rufus carefully held her, also very happy, his eyes extremely gentle, "This is wonderful. From now on, we'll always be together. After college graduation, we'll get married."
Watching Rufus and Layla, Olivia somehow found the scene beautiful.
She could see that Rufus and Layla's feelings for each other were quite pure, without any hint of impurity in their eyes.
This atmosphere of being in love was something she had never experienced.
Back then, she had impulsively married Michael without experiencing anything, falling into the tomb of marriage and suffering endless coldness.
Looking back now, she realized how foolish she had been.
Fortunately, she had cut her losses in time—it wasn't too late!
While she was distracted, Layla had already been moved to tears by Rufus's proposal.
However, she hadn't forgotten they were still at home, with Stella and Paxton watching nearby.
She cautiously glanced at their reactions.
Previously, Stella and Paxton had completely disapproved of their relationship.
But to her surprise, Stella and Paxton now wore relieved smiles.
After this incident, they suddenly realized that compared to Layla's life-threatening condition, choosing a boyfriend who didn't meet their requirements was nothing.
Now, hearing Rufus promise marriage, Paxton spoke directly, "I won't stop you from dating now, but marriage is a big deal. If you still feel the same way after college graduation, we can arrange for both families to meet."
Stella also said, "Rufus, I hope you won't let Layla down. When she was sick, she kept thinking about you... she even ran to see you and had an episode that nearly caused an accident! You should know how strong her feelings for you are."
Rufus looked serious and said, "I know, and I will definitely cherish her."
Seeing he wasn't being casual about it, Stella and Paxton felt satisfied.
Olivia watched the whole thing, finding it amazing.
Feelings really varied from person to person.
Sometimes, age didn't necessarily determine maturity!
Perhaps these two young people would be very happy together.
Olivia silently wished them well, then realized that Andrew beside her hadn't spoken at all.
She instinctively turned to look at him.
Andrew's profile was perfect, as if sculpted, his thin lips pressed together without a smile, even his handsome eyes slightly furrowed.
Olivia was startled.
Was Andrew dissatisfied with Rufus?
Just as she was about to ask, Andrew suddenly looked over.
When their eyes met, his gaze seemed to ripple slightly, then quickly calmed. He asked, "Is there something on my face?"
Olivia felt embarrassed.
Was there anything more awkward than being caught staring?
She quickly shook her head, "I just wanted to ask why you weren't saying anything."
Andrew smiled slightly and answered, "I was just thinking about some things..."
He actually didn't quite understand why Rufus and Layla's relationship had progressed to talking about marriage so quickly.
But whether he understood or not, he would still give his blessings. "Layla, congratulations on getting what you wished for."
Then Andrew looked at Rufus, "I think of Layla as a sister. Don't you dare mistreat her."
Though the words sounded gentle without any warning tone, they somehow carried an oppressive feeling.
Rufus didn't dare take it lightly.
The White family was already extraordinary, and this person before him, with his noble bearing and natural aura of authority that even surpassed Paxton's, clearly had an impressive background.
He said sincerely, "How would I dare mistreat her? Usually, she's the one who bullies me!"
Layla raised her chin proudly, as if proving he wasn't lying.
Everyone couldn't help but smile at this.
After the treatment ended, Olivia had successfully completed her task.
When preparing to leave later, Paxton came over with a check, trying to give it to her. "Dr. Garcia, thanks to you, Layla has completely recovered. This is the treatment fee—you must accept it."
Olivia quickly declined, "No need, you already paid before."
"That was just a deposit—how much was that? This is what you deserve!"
"Yes, Ella, you've been coming tirelessly to treat me for a month. You've worked so hard. You must accept the treatment fee; otherwise, we'll feel guilty."
Olivia still refused.
But then, a hand with distinct knuckles took the check for her and placed it in her hand.
"Take it. This is what you earned through hard work—there's no need to refuse! Besides, if you don't accept it, I won't dare ask you to make house calls next time!"
Since even he said so, Olivia stopped being modest, "Alright then."
She accepted the money, and the White family members were immediately satisfied.
After leaving the White Villa, Andrew gave Olivia a ride home.
The two sat side by side in the back seat, naturally continuing to chat about Layla's situation for a while.
Then the conversation extended to the special forces members at the military base and their cases.
The conversation flowed smoothly, and even David, driving in the front seat, found the scene novel.
Andrew was usually a man of few words. When chatting with people, he was polite but rarely said more than necessary.
But in front of Olivia, this situation didn't exist at all.
And he still wouldn't admit to treating her differently?
As he was silently complaining, the car happened to turn a corner.
A car coming the wrong way rushed up from below, startling David into quickly turning the steering wheel.
He reacted fast and safely avoided a collision, but the swerving arc had been extreme.
This caused Olivia, completely unprepared in the back seat, to be thrown by the turn.
Then Olivia fell right onto Andrew.
