Chapter 62 Well Scolded
Just as Sophia's face lit up with anticipation, Evelyn returned, holding Bianca in her arms and Olivia's hand.
Earlier, Evelyn had struggled to keep her cool, wanting to snap at the Johnsons multiple times.
But for Bianca's birthday, she forced herself to hold back.
She hadn't expected the Johnsons to act even worse, especially Michael!
Not only did he show up with Sophia, but he also let Aiden steal the cake-cutting moment.
Evelyn was furious, almost unable to breathe, feeling heartbroken for Olivia and Bianca.
Now, seeing Olivia bravely flip the cake and announce her divorce, Evelyn naturally stepped up to support her.
Because she was close, she inadvertently noticed Sophia's undisguised happiness. Evelyn was almost ready to explode with rage.
Look at Sophia's smug face! If Sophia truly loved Michael back then, why did she marry someone else? Evelyn refused to believe this was some beautiful first love!
Olivia naturally sensed Evelyn's encouragement. Her heart warmed slightly, but it couldn't dispel the sadness she felt.
She accepted the mistakes made in the past. Now, seeing the reality clearly, she only hoped to escape this relationship as soon as possible.
However, her actions made the Johnsons feel deeply humiliated.
The Johnson family held significant status—the wealthiest in Emerald City, a true elite family!
Wherever they went, they were respected and feared. But today, Olivia publicly insulted them, making them furious.
Aiden, still pretending to be obedient, walked over and said, "Aunt Olivia, don't talk to Grandma Amelia like that. She's an elder; you should show some respect. If you're upset about the cake, I'll give the first piece back to Bianca!"
He raised the cake in his hand. Olivia felt immense disgust towards Aiden.
He was always playing the good child. His acting was ingrained in his very blood, making people sick.
She immediately moved away with Bianca, coldly saying, "No need, get away! Stay away from my Bianca!"
Hayden had been suppressing his anger for a long time.
Seeing this, he couldn't hold back any longer. "Enough! Olivia, how long are you going to make a scene? Aiden is being so well-behaved, and look at your attitude! You've been causing trouble since earlier, making a big deal out of nothing, ruining Bianca's birthday party. I think you never intended to celebrate her birthday properly!"
His stern reprimand carried an air of authority, intimidating anyone who heard it.
But Olivia was fearless. "Twisting the facts, you're quite skilled at that. This is the first time I've heard of a birthday party where the birthday girl isn't allowed to cut the cake, and someone else's child does it instead. You know very well what kind of party this is."
The Johnson family members were furious upon hearing this.
But before they could respond, Sophia stepped forward and said, "Olivia, why are you so upset? Michael said earlier that he let Aiden cut the cake because Bianca was too short to reach it. If you're unhappy, I apologize, but there's no need to speak ill of them. Michael put a lot of effort into organizing this party, even staying up all night. I know you don't like Aiden, but if you don't want Bianca to play with him, I'll keep him away. But with so many guests watching, your behavior is damaging the Johnson family's reputation..."
She spoke as if she were kindly advising, considering everyone, while still appearing gracious and understanding.
Amelia immediately chimed in, "Sophia is so sensible, unlike some people who can't even be presentable!"
Chase mocked, "Mom, don't compare everyone to Sophia. She received a high-class education from a young age, naturally making her graceful and gentle! As for Aiden, he's been taught to be obedient and well-mannered. Comparing him to a failure is an insult!"
Hayden also praised, "Aiden is indeed a well-behaved child, likable at first sight!"
Their words disgusted Olivia.
She didn't want to stay here another moment. She planned to take Bianca elsewhere to celebrate her birthday.
Before leaving, she coldly looked at Michael and said, "Enough talk, see you in court."
But before she could leave, Amelia changed the subject, seemingly to retaliate against Olivia. "Michael, since we're all gathered here, why don't you officially recognize Aiden as your godson? With the cake ruined, it's bad luck. Maybe Bianca will get better if we have a happy event."
Hayden's eyes lit up with approval, "I think that's a great idea. Maybe Bianca's condition is due to the lack of a brother!"
Aiden looked excitedly at Amelia, "Really? I can call Uncle Michael my dad?"
Sophia was thrilled inside but kept her cool. "Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, this... isn't really appropriate, is it?"
Amelia brushed off her concerns. "What's wrong with it? Our families have been close for years, and you and Michael have a special bond! Besides, Hayden and I have always wanted a grandson. We adore Aiden's well-behaved nature."
Hayden nodded at Aiden with approval. "Yes, your parents are here today. Let's make it official; it will strengthen our bond."
The guests, watching this unfold, were shocked by the turn of events.
The legitimate wife was causing a scene at the birthday party, demanding a divorce, and the Johnson family was planning to adopt someone else's son right in front of her and their granddaughter.
Those with a keen sense of timing could see clearly.
Michael's wife and daughter were not valued at all.
Some eager to curry favor with the Johnson family immediately spoke up, "The Brown family's child looks so cute, perfect to be Michael 's godson."
"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, on gaining a grandson."
"Aiden seems smart and promising, truly fortunate!"
"The Johnson family's granddaughter has autism and can't be cured. Having a brother would be good for her."
The guests' congratulatory remarks felt like arrows piercing Olivia's ears.
But she felt no pain, only endless coldness.
She had thought the Johnson family was heartless, but hadn't expected them to be even crueler!
Bianca was their biological granddaughter, yet they never acknowledged her. Tonight, they used her and humiliated her, and now they wanted to adopt someone else's son in front of her.
Olivia found it laughable but suddenly felt calm.
Fortunately, she never intended to keep Bianca in the Johnson family.
Their attitude proved her decision was correct!
Olivia coldly scanned their indifferent faces and sincerely suggested, "Why adopt a godson? Just treat him as your own. That way, he can carry on the Johnson family name!"
Michael's eyes flashed with intense coldness and anger. "Olivia!" He nearly ground his teeth as he called her name.
Olivia was unfazed. She could see that Amelia's words were meant to disgust her, but besides genuinely wanting to adopt Aiden as a grandson.
If it were before, she might have broken down and become hysterical.
But now, having lost hope in the Johnson family, she naturally wouldn't give them the satisfaction.
Chase didn't see it that way. He mocked, "Olivia, no need for sarcasm! Aiden is so well-behaved that anyone would like him. Our families are close, and Aiden practically likes my brother. Making it official is only right!"
"Only right, indeed!" Evelyn, having watched the whole scene and held back her anger, couldn't contain it any longer.
Seeing Olivia being bullied repeatedly, she exploded with fury. "You have a daughter, but want to adopt someone else's son. What's the matter? Mr. Johnson, are you too young to have children, or are you terminally ill and about to be childless? Is that why you're so eager to be someone else's father? I've truly seen it all! You disregard your own daughter's feelings, on her birthday, when she should cut the cake, yet you let your lover's son do it. Are you trying to show off their status? You haven't even divorced, but you bring your whole family in front of your legitimate wife, afraid others won't know you're together?
And you..." She angrily pointed at Amelia, "In front of so many guests, you defend an outsider and belittle your own daughter-in-law, full of derogatory and disdainful words. Is this the Johnson family way? When Mrs. Emily Johnson was alive, she loved Olivia and Bianca dearly, and many people knew it. But how long has she been gone? And you're already degrading them publicly!"
Evelyn's eyes were already red with anger. But she wasn't finished.
She turned her gaze to the guests, gritting her teeth, "Everyone, what were you thinking when you congratulated them earlier? Couldn't you see the Johnson family bullying this mother and daughter? I ask you, if this birthday party were for your child, and someone replaced her, how would you feel? You are all distinguished individuals. For a bit of benefit, is it worth abandoning the basic ability to discern right from wrong?"
The guests were stunned. They hadn't expected anyone to dare publicly scold the entire Johnson family, implicating them as well!
A few people's faces turned directly unpleasant, filled with displeasure. Who was this young woman, so bold?
The Johnsons were undoubtedly the most furious. This little brat was truly audacious! Amelia was about to explode with anger, but at that moment, a calm voice came from the doorway, "Well scolded!"
