Chapter 233 You Are the Divine Assist
Benjamin almost had tears in his eyes after reading the reply.
Talk about no good deed going unpunished!
He'd been worrying himself sick over Andrew, and now Andrew was saying he had something wrong with his brain. This was just too much!
After putting away his phone, Benjamin couldn't help but sigh heavily.
Could Andrew really find a wife acting like this?
Hearing Benjamin's sighs, Bianca tilted her little head in confusion and asked, "Mr. White, what's wrong?"
Seeing Bianca, Benjamin felt like he'd found someone to vent to, so he complained, "It's your dad! I told him to prepare a gift to surprise your mommy and improve their relationship, but he said I have something wrong with my brain!"
Benjamin was still fuming.
Bianca continued, "Your brain is fine. My daddy and mommy are never together, so sending gifts is good!"
She totally agreed with Benjamin's suggestion.
Benjamin got all excited, like he'd found a teammate who understood him, "Right! Bianca, you think so too?"
"Yes!" Bianca nodded her little head, comforting the hurt Benjamin, "Mr. White, don't worry. My daddy will definitely give mommy a gift without you reminding him.
Before, he sent flowers to mommy, and mommy was so happy, they even hugged!"
Benjamin's eyes widened in surprise, his face full of gossip, "He really sent flowers? And when did this 'hug' happen?"
Bianca was happy to share the loving details between Andrew and Olivia with Benjamin, telling him everything.
After hearing it all, Benjamin was amazed.
He patted Bianca's shoulder and said, "Bianca, I've figured it out - you're the real MVP here!
Please keep it up. Whether your dad can find someone depends on you!"
Bianca clenched her little fists, looking very serious, and said in a sweet childlike voice, "I'll work hard!"
Benjamin found her serious look so adorable that he couldn't help rubbing her head, "You're great! I need to give you a reward!"
Then he stuffed all his candy into her hands.
Bianca smiled happily.
Although Andrew had brushed off Benjamin, he was indeed thinking about Olivia's birthday.
Since Rodolfo was organizing the birthday party, he certainly wouldn't steal the spotlight.
As for the gift...
He really needed to think about that carefully!
...
Meanwhile, because Sophia had brought Lyle to treat Michael, Michael's attitude toward her had clearly improved over the past few days.
He'd even given her a card and told her to buy things she liked.
Sophia didn't hold back and immediately arranged to meet up with old friends for shopping.
Although Sophia had embarrassed herself repeatedly in their social circle before, Michael still hadn't abandoned her, and recently there were rumors that Sophia and Michael were getting engaged.
So those rich young ladies still kept up appearances.
If she really secured the position of Michael's wife in the future, what would those past embarrassments matter?
Who would dare laugh at Michael's wife?
Whether in Emerald City or anywhere else, in this world, money and status meant everything.
Sophia thought the same way, so for this rare outing, she'd dressed up carefully.
Right now, Sophia and her friends were in a VIP room at a brand-name jewelry store, picking out styles.
The group around her were all flattering her.
"Sophia, this bracelet seems to be new. It looks like it would suit your style."
"This ring is nice too. It came out at the end of last year. I heard it's by that famous designer, and it's even a couple's set."
"That's pretty good. Sophia, you could buy it and wear it together with Mr. Johnson."
"Mr. Johnson is so good to Sophia. That Olivia never got this kind of treatment, right?"
"Of course. Look who we're comparing her to. How could Olivia compare to our Sophia?"
"Mr. Johnson never even liked her. I heard that when he married her back then, she threatened him into it."
Sophia was pleased by their words and pretended to be modest, "Alright, that's all in the past. Let's not bring it up anymore."
Sophia also generously accepted their suggestions and called the clerk over, "I'll take all of these. Wrap them up for me. Please wrap that couple's ring set separately."
Anyone hearing this would know it was for Michael.
"Of course. I'll wrap them up for you right away!" The clerk was beaming.
The friends who came with Sophia exchanged glances with each other.
They'd been flattering Sophia like that partly to test the waters.
After all, there were rumors going around that Sophia had done so many things to embarrass the Johnson family that she was probably about to fall out of favor.
But from what they could see now, Michael really hadn't abandoned her.
Otherwise, she wouldn't be spending so freely.
They could tell Sophia wasn't faking it, so jealousy couldn't help but show in their eyes.
Michael was really good to Sophia.
Sophia naturally noticed and felt smug.
Her place in Michael's heart was irreplaceable!
But just seconds after feeling happy, voices suddenly came from next door.
"Beatrix, I heard there's a gathering in a few days that will bring together many important people. Even the mayor and military generals will attend, plus some of the country's top billionaires. Is that true?"
Facing her friends' questions, Beatrix smiled elegantly, "Yes, it's true, but it's not really a gathering - someone's having a birthday."
Hearing it was just a birthday, everyone exclaimed in amazement, "Whose birthday is it? Such a big deal!"
"Yeah, a birthday party that can get so many important people to come - I can't even imagine."
Seeing their exaggerated expressions, Beatrix smiled, "It's Ms. Smith!"
"What?"
The people who'd been shocked just moments ago looked incredulous, "Michael's ex-wife?"
Beatrix reminded them, "Don't call her that. She's now the boss of Miracle Pharmaceuticals and one of the owners of Nexora Tech.
Her teacher is the famous miracle doctor. Which of these identities isn't more impressive?"
With this reminder, those people immediately understood and quickly said, "Right, you're absolutely right. She's amazing. Even my dad praises her!"
"I know her too. She's outstanding among our generation. My dad uses her as a role model for me every day!"
"I really admire her. Of course, I admire you too, Beatrix! You're both real career women!"
Beatrix preferred hearing words like these. She told her friends, "A woman's greatest value is making a name for herself, not becoming a man's accessory.
At the very least, when you go out, people should mention you as a person, not as so-and-so's wife. That's so degrading!"
"Yes, exactly. You're right. We'll be careful about how we refer to people from now on!"
Beatrix smiled and changed the subject, telling the clerk, "This one is nice. I'll take it. Please wrap it up."
Shortly after she said this, the people next door heard them leave.
The room on Sophia's side fell into dead silence because of what they'd heard.
The rich young ladies didn't say anything, but their eyes held back laughter they didn't dare show.
Sophia's face looked terrible.
She had reason to suspect that those words were said by Beatrix on purpose!
That woman was very close to Olivia and had publicly backed her up and defended her several times.
Sophia had been feeling smug about regaining Michael's favor.
But those words had slapped her in the face.
She felt like her act of bringing people to buy jewelry made her look like a clown.
And she'd guessed right.
Beatrix and her group had heard that Sophia was next door receiving compliments, so they wanted to get back at her for Olivia.
By now, they'd already gone outside. The two girls with Beatrix were the mayor's daughter and Nathan's daughter.
Nathan's daughter, Lily Evans, was excitedly asking Beatrix, "How was it, Beatrix? Did I sound convincing?"
Beatrix smiled and said, "Very convincing. I couldn't hear any flaws in your tone at all."
The mayor's daughter, Chloe Wells, also asked, "My performance was pretty natural too, right?"
Beatrix didn't hold back her praise, "Very natural! This year's best actress award definitely goes to you two!"
Both of them laughed and said, "That's good. But it's a shame we couldn't see that woman's face. I wonder if we managed to get to her."
"Better not to look. I'm afraid it would make me lose my appetite. Did you hear how they were fawning over her next door, and that smug tone? It was ridiculous."
"Exactly. It's one thing to latch onto a man yourself, but to put others down too - that's disgusting."
Lily also said, "I used to admire Michael. He's handsome, has that cool demeanor, like an untouchable flower - exactly my type. But now...
He actually likes someone like Sophia. It's revolting. I must have been blind back then!"
Chloe nodded in complete agreement, "Ms. Smith was unlucky to run into those two. Fortunately, she's escaped that mess now. I'm really looking forward to this birthday party!"
"Me too!" Lily said, looking at Beatrix, "Beatrix, you have to introduce us then. We want to be friends with Olivia!"
Beatrix was supportive, of course.
Both of them had special status. If they could connect, their family influence would become valuable contacts.
And they were both nice people. She felt Olivia could get along well with them.
So Beatrix said, "No need to wait until then. I'll create a group chat now and introduce you. Olivia will be happy!"
"Really?"
Both of them had stars in their eyes, full of anticipation.
Beatrix responded with action.
Olivia had no idea someone had defended her.
When she finished work that evening and checked her phone, she was surprised to find she'd been added to a group chat.
Besides Beatrix, there were two strangers in it.
When she clicked in to look, she found these two had been posting messages declaring their admiration for her.
They'd already sent over a dozen messages.
Their enthusiastic affection made her almost think Beatrix was trying to set her up on a date!
