Chapter 73 Goodnews

Chapter 73 Goodnews

I opened my eyes. My body hurt like hell, and I felt as if I just had a run-in with a train. I looked around the unfamiliar place. The white ceiling made me aware of the fact I wasn't in my office. My office didn't have such silvery walls.

Where was I? I wondered, my gaze wandering around the place. What was I doing here? How did I end up in this place from my office?

I tried to sit up from the bed but winced from pain.

"You are awake?" Janet rushed to my side, her face awash with relief. "Oh, thank the Lord."

"What am I doing here?" I looked around the room. And only then did I notice the IV that was connected to my palm.

"You fainted an hour ago, so I brought you here. The doctor took your blood for a test," she explained.

"Why did you bring me here?" I panicked for a moment.

"What did you expect me to do in that situation? I had to bring you to the hospital, as that's the only thing I can do!" She sounded hysterical. "I've not had anyone faint on me. It's not my fault that I

thought of the clinic."

Immediately, I felt like purging. "Please help me up!" I requested it urgently. "I need to -"

"What am I going to do? Should I call the doctors to remove this?" She glanced around, showing she didn't know what to do.

"No need." I removed it, wincing in pain as I did so.

"You will hurt yourself-"

"Let's go," I interrupted, placing my hand on the wound, to cease the bleeding.

Janet helped me up and took me to the bathroom faster than I would have gone. I vomited into the toilet, my stomach hurting.

"Are you sure you are okay?" She asked as she held on to my hair, removing the stray ones that wished to cover my face.

I wanted to retort with a wise comeback by asking if a vomiting person looked okay, but I didn't. "Water," I rasped.

"Here you go." She gave me water in a cup, and I rinsed my mouth with it.

"Do you want to go back to bed?" She inquired.

I nodded, not able to say a word as she helped me back to the bed just as the doctor stepped in.

"I can see she's awake," the doctor said with a smile towards me. "How do you feel, Miss Summer?"

"What's wrong with her?" Janet asked without waiting for my reply. "Is she going to be alright?" "There's nothing amiss with her." The doctor smiled at her before she turned to me. "I have some great news for you, miss."

"Good news?" Janet narrowed his eyes at him. "How can you call her vomiting good news?" She looked like she was just moments from tearing the doctor to shreds as she turned to me. "I recommend we go to another hospital, one that's not in this town or anywhere around it. I'm afraid they don't have enough medical equipment here," she said, loud enough for the doctor to hear.

The doctor smiled despite her comments. "Miss, it will do you good if you will at least hear my words out." Janet puffed out a breath. "Can we hear the so-called good news now, doctor?" She questioned, trying to sound polite, but it came out as clipped as she looked.

I focused on the doctor, waiting to hear her supposed wonderful news that would require me to vomit any chance I got, not to mention the constant urination. When you add the fainting, I doubt it

was anything good.

She smiled. "Congratulations, Miss Summer. You are a week pregnant."

The words seem to ring in my ear. Pregnant? I blinked.

"A week pregnant?" I stared up at her in shock, trying to know if she was playing tricks on me.

Janet looked shocked as she glanced at me before she focused on the doctor. "Are you certain about this? My boss here isn't dating anyone. How could she be pregnant? By some miracles?"

I didn't say a word. I could only blink, gulping as I thought about the doctor's words. Was I pregnant, for my mates? It sounded surreal. I couldn't even dare to believe that I wasn't hearing things

because...

Wait a damned minute, I was pregnant? Without being marked? Didn't Helen say we couldn't procreate because of the differences in our species? Could this be a technical problem?

I didn't dare to believe it was the truth because this was so unexpected. It was the last thing I had in mind because deep down, I thought I was down with the flu.

"Ma'am, please say something," Janet said to me, bringing my focus back to them.

I blinked, looking at the doctor. "How are you certain that I'm pregnant? Could your diagnosis be wrong?" I questioned, still in doubt about everything going on.

She smiled at my question. "Let's see... Dizziness, eating rubbish, constant urination, constant feeding, always sleeping, especially in the morning." She gave me a look before adding, "And being

horny? Am I right?"

I covered my face with a blanket in embarrassment. How could she ask them something like this in the presence of others? How can she act so shamelessly?

I looked towards Janet, who was looking at me with a shocked expression on her face as if she couldn't recognize me.

"You see, miss. All this points to one thing, your friend is pregnant. You can take her to another hospital if you like. I doubt they would give you another result." Smiling, she turned to look at me." Should you have questions, I will be in my office." Beaming, she left, closing the door.

"Fuck," I mumbled, leaning back on the headboard as my gaze returned to Janet, who hadn't said a word, still looking at me with an indescribable look.

"What's wrong?" I whispered.

She shook her head, forcing a smile. "I guess a congratulation is on the way." Though she tried to look happy, I could tell she wasn't. But I didn't delve into it because I had something important to do, something that involved my pregnancy and how to break it to my mates, who

I would be more than thrilled to hear about it.
