A few months later…
I looked out of the window, admiring the snow Mother Nature had created.
It'd been a few months since that incident happened. Every day, I lived in fear, knowing that it was all over.
I had a flashback from my nightmare when I was tortured and almost raped in that dirty place. It triggered me a lot that there were days when I couldn't sleep and eat properly.
Since that day, I suffered from depression because of the rejection. I also suffered from anxiety because a part of me still feared that all of this was not over yet.
Every day, I locked myself in my room after that incident to avoid getting in contact with outsiders because I was afraid of how people would look at me.
There were times I tried to commit suicide to end my pain. I constantly felt the pain of my mate mating with my sister, and it really hurt a lot.
Rose, my best friend, was always there for me and brought me to mental health treatment.
She was one of the people I love in my life, who encouraged me to go as she also wanted to know how to assuage our fears.
However, my mental problems were so serious that I had to take sleeping pills every day and some medication to get well fast.
She and her brother, Alpha William, were the only ones who really cared about me ever since that day. They guided me and brought me into their pack. I was glad to have them by my side. They supported me for who I was, which my mate could not do.
Alpha William was three years older than me. Two years ago, he lost his wolf as a rogue attacked his pack and killed his mate. He told me that he went through depression but was able to overcome it because of his family and his friends, who constantly supported him. I really looked up to him for his good attitude and determination.
One month ago, on my eighteenth birthday, I finally shifted into a wolf. Since then, I'd become very pretty. I was a beautiful wolf who had white fur and blue eyes. The moment when my wolf, Trisha, asked me about my mate, both of us became heartbroken.
Since then, Trisha had comforted me when I was facing my problems. However, after that occasion, we did not talk about our mates anymore, even though I knew Trisha wanted to talk more about it.
Someone knocked on my door. "Come in."
William walked in and smiled widely. "Hey, Belle. How are you feeling?"
I forced myself to smile. "It's the same every day. All I feel is pain, sadness, and anger."
I cried hard again, reliving all those memories.
William came to my side and hugged me, saying, "All you can do now is to move on and be strong. Build yourself to be a better and stronger person so that you can show everyone that you are not weak."
I hugged him. "Thank you, Alpha William, for accepting who I am."
He laughed. "I told you to call me William, not Alpha. You are my friend who saved my sister's life. I should be thankful."
I smiled. "Fine, Will. I saved your sister and you saved me, so we are even. So, why did you come visit me?"
"Erm, I kind of signed you up for an audition as a singer. Since I overheard you singing, I thought you'd make a great singer. Please, don't be mad at me!"
"What! Are you serious? How am I going to sing in this state? I won't even stand a chance against those participating."
"You are going to be a singer. No matter what happens, we will support you by staying at your side. You are going to be famous; trust me."
Rose suddenly burst into my room, holding a tray with glasses and a bottle of red wine.
"But—"
William cut me off. "Don't worry, we will prepare for you. Your audition will start next month, so we have exactly four more weeks. We have found you a teacher to help you with your skills."
I was shocked when I heard what William said. I was forever grateful for what they did, so I would do whatever it took to repay them by going to this audition.
"Fine, but can you help me change my name? I do not want my pack, especially my mate, to know that I am here."
Rose said, "Sure, we can do that for you, but promise us that you will not hide from them forever. Your family is over there. They need you."
I looked away out the window. "My family doesn't need me. If they needed me, I would not be here now in this state."
William said, "I know how you are feeling right now but just promise us, okay? We are doing this for your own good."
I looked at them, smiled faintly, and nodded my head. Rose smiled. "So, what name do you want to change to?"
"Hmm, how about Rebecca Wilson? I have always liked this 'Rebecca' name since I was young. I would name all my dolls Rebecca."
William laughed. "Seriously! You name all your dolls Rebecca? I think you are obsessed with the name."
Rose and I laugh loudly.
"I think this name is awesome! I will ask someone to change it later without anyone knowing."
I thanked her with a hug.
Rose smiled and pulled apart. "Anything for you, bestie."
William helped us pour some wine into our glasses and handed them over to us.
I was thinking very hard on how I should tell them.
"You seem to have something on your mind. You know you can always tell us," Rose added, observing my change in mood.
"Can you two do me a favor?"
"What do you want?"
"I want to make him regret doing what he did to me."
He smirked. "Sure. But what is the plan, then?"
I discussed the plan with the two people I could count on, and they nodded in response.
"This is going to be fun!" she replied.
I nodded and drank the wine that I held.
William held his glass up, and we cheered. "To our Rebecca!"
I looked out of my window while drinking my wine, thinking it was time for the old Belle to be forgotten. Time for the new Rebecca to rise.
