Farewell to an Alpha
Farewell to an Alpha
Noah
I've never seen my wife cry like a child. But that's how she was. The same demon that killed her mother took the life of her father too. Alpha Arton may not have been with her when she was a child, but he tried to protect her when she was alone. And he literally threw himself to his death against that vile bloodsucker.
A thoughtless act, but I'm very grateful. I would never have been able to live if something had happened to Rebeca.
If my brothers hadn't been there, if Alpha Arton hadn't been there and brought Wladimir's pack with him. Well, everything could have been worse.
A vampire is not an easy creature to kill. But I believe in the Tasmanian Devils and now I needed to count on them.
I just couldn't leave Rebeca like this. So vulnerable. I needed to be there. Goddess, outside, help me!
I heard a light knock on the door. When I opened it, I knew it was the answer to my prayer.
“Natsuke, it’s good to see you! Mateo! Please, come in.”
Rebeca hugged Nat. She had company. Now I was going to leave and would only come back with that son of a bitch’s head.
“Mat, can we talk?” I took him to the balcony. “Cousin, I’m sorry I only arrived now. We had an unexpected incident on the flight, but what can we do to help now?”
“Mat, I need you and Natsuke to stay by Rebeca’s side. Don’t leave her alone for a minute. I need two days, tops.”
“Are you going after him?” “Mat, he’s going to a place where two lycans are waiting for him. I just need to bring his head so she can have peace. If she knows I’m going, she’ll want to go with me and there’s no way…”
“Go, do what you have to do. I’ll defend her life with mine if necessary.” “Thank you, cousin, she’s under the influence of a tranquilizer. She won’t realize until tomorrow. Tell her I’m taking care of Arton’s burial. I left James in charge of that, and Robert and Liam are here to keep the security guard.”
I kissed Rebeca on the head and left the room. I dismissed the werewolf couple from the hotel in Moscow. James was taking care of a cremation ceremony for the body that would take place tomorrow at 7 pm. I needed to be there with her. The next day we would all go home.
I rented a motorcycle and went to the cave area. I sent my location to Sabrina. She came to pick me up and took me to the hideout. It was 11 pm when we received Jef’s message that the vampire had entered the cave.
I wanted to go there and rip his head off his body. But the lycan held me back.
Jef placed a device that was capable of blowing up the cave, preventing him from leaving. In addition to a silver net that also weakens vampires to prevent him from leaving in bat form. There was a small camera with sound installed in the cave that showed us what the idiot was doing. He called an accomplice, Felix. He said he should take the trunk to a transport company that would take it to Siberia. Sabrina was recording everything on her laptop.
We saw how he got inside the trunk. It was two in the morning and I couldn't calm down. My wolf wanted to go there, but it was my emotions talking louder. Damn it!
"Drink this vodka, relax, everything is under control." I accepted, but when Sabrina smiled. I understood that she had given me a lion's breath, something to help me sleep.
It was 6 in the morning when she shook my shoulders, waking me up. The sun was shy. I went to wash my face in the river, she brought me a coffee. I looked at her disconcerted. "I'm sorry, but emotions don't go with this kind of work." I agreed with her and smiled. We stretched, armed ourselves and went to the nearby area. Jef was waiting for us.
“Let’s go in, I’ll open the chest, Sabrina lifts the false bottom. You stick the stake in the heart.
Without saying anything, or blinking. Can you do it? If not, I’ll do it”, Jef said seriously.
“Yes”, I replied.
We went in. The sun was already shining. I was holding the stake.
Jef opened the chest, Sabrina lifted the false bottom. He opened his eyes, I stuck the stake in with one hand, pulled out my knife with the other hand, and slit his throat.
I held the head up to the sun. I saw the thing fall apart. Jef brought the body. I photographed the remains. I sent them to Robert. And I asked in the message that he not say anything to Rebeca yet, I told him I would be there in two hours at the most.
I hugged Sabrina and Jef, thanked them both and King Lycan.
Jef said he was going to wait for Felix, maybe kill him, maybe just take a picture of him for the Lycan security file. We said goodbye.
I had to fly to the hotel. Rebeca would wake up and be very angry with me for leaving without her.
