Is this real?

SOPHIE'S POV

Staring at the message from Claire on my phone screen, disbelief washed over me like an icy wave crashing against my heart. "Is this real?" I questioned myself quietly. We had drifted so far apart that even imagining a conversation seemed impossible. Yet here she was, reaching out for reconciliation when everything felt irreparable just moments ago.

" This can't be true right?" I muttered to myself not wanting to believe what I had just seen. I read the message repeatedly, " was this a scheme?" I asked myself unsure of what to believe.

A mix of skepticism and curiosity swirled inside me as I contemplated whether or not to give her another chance. " Was it worth it?" I thought to myself as I stared at the message in front of me.

After everything we had been through, all the hurt and pain, she expects me to just forgive and forget? A part of me wanted to ignore her message, to pretend like it never happened. But another part longed for closure, for a chance at redemption. With a sigh, I hit send and braced myself for whatever lay ahead.

After a while, I decided it was not going to hurt to meet up with her and hear what she had to say. " She was my sister afterall." I thought to myself.

I picked up my phone to send a response, my fingers trembled as I typed out my response to Claire. "Was this the right thing to do? " I asked, the bitterness evident in my words. I was not sure but there was no harm in giving other people a chance, moreso my sister.

As I hit send, a surge of emotions flooded through me. Doubt, anger, and a glimmer of hope intertwined in my heart. Was this the right decision? Could we truly mend what was broken between us?

The silence that followed after sending my response was deafening. Doubt filled every crevice of my mind as insecurity took hold of me. Maybe she wouldn't reply at all – maybe she had already moved on without looking back. " Why did I think she meant what she sent."

The seconds turned into minutes as I anxiously waited for Claire's response. The minutes ticked by, each one feeling like an eternity as I anxiously waited for Claire's response. My anxiety growing stronger.

A part of me wanted to believe that Claire truly meant her words, but past experiences had taught me otherwise. I felt torn between protecting myself and giving us another chance. Doubt gnawed at me, making me question everything that had happened moments ago.

" Was I setting myself up for more heartache? But then a notification chimed on my phone, signaling a new message from Claire.

My hands trembled as I opened it, unsure of what to expect.

" Can't wait to see you." As I read her message, I felt a wave of relaxation. " Maybe she truly wanted to make amends." I thought to myself.

I got ready the following morning and headed to the coffee shop, as I arrived and did not meet her, I thought she had changed her mind. " This was a cruel joke, I knew it was to good to be true." I mumbled dissapointed at myself for thinking we had a chance at remedy.

" I knew she was not going to come." I mumbled, bitterness in my voice. Just as I was about to leave the coffee shop, I heard a chime sound from my phone. It was a message and It was Claire.

" What did she want now?" I muttered, hesitant to open the message, " It is not going to hurt, is it?" I opened the message and sighed deeply afterwards. A sly smile spread across my lips and I closed my phone and walked back in to the coffee shop.

Claire had messaged to inform me she was close and apologized for making me wait.

I smiled and walked over to a table and ordered some coffee. As I sipped the coffee, my mind wondered if I was doing the right thing.

" She was family, wasn't she? Besides she messaged." I thought to myself when I thought in my mind if this wasn't a bad idea. I decided that giving us a chance to work out our relationship wasn't.

Moments afterwards, she arrived and approached the table where I was and soon enough we got talking. " She is an amazing person." I thought to myself as I stared at her, the meeting went more than I anticipated. It was a successful one and we both had fun to the brim.

As we sat there, reminiscing about the good old days and laughing at our memories, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. It was as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, and all the pain and hurt that had once consumed us seemed to fade away. We talked for hours, catching up on each other's lives and discussing our hopes for the future. In that moment, it felt like we were getting back the bond that we thought was lost forever.

The ambiance of the coffee shop provided a cozy atmosphere for our long overdue reunion. As we sipped on steaming cups of fragrant brews, laughter echoed in between conversations filled with genuine understanding and forgiveness. Memories from our childhood flooded back as if they had never left - shared secrets, inside jokes, and those countless nights spent talking. It was in this moment that I realized how much I missed having family, how much I missed having a sister by my side.

Having no one but myself all through my childhood wasn't an easy one and now with Claire here it felt like all of that was about to change. We laughed at each other jokes as we enjoyed the coffee.

" This is really good." I told her as I stared at the coffee again, " I know right, that have the best coffee in the town, more reason I asked is to meet here." She replied, smiling as she spoke. I loved her smile, it was beautiful.

As we sat there talking, I realized how much we had both grown since we last saw each other. We were no longer those naive girls who used to fight over trivial things; instead, we were two women who had experienced life's ups and downs separately but still longed for connection. In that moment of vulnerability and understanding, I knew that this reunion wasn't just about reconciliation – it was about rediscovering ourselves through each other's eyes.

With each passing minute, it felt like we were unraveling a new chapter in our lives. The bitterness of past misunderstandings dissolved into an understanding tinged with forgiveness. It was as if fate had guided us back together for a reason - to mend the fractures within our souls and rekindle the love that bound us as sisters.

" You should meet my daughter." I told her and she smirked at me, " haven't I done that, you know she hates me." She responded as she took a sip of her coffee. " She doesn't, I guess we all misunderstood one another." I told her and she said she was going to look forward to it.

" I would have loved to say same, but you already met my son, I mean technically, you are his mother now." She told me smiling and I smiled back. I can never take your place, Claire. You are his mother and there is no changing that." I told her as I smiled at her.

She did not respond instead she stared right back, the silence in the room was palpable. " Alright then, if you say so." She said after a while.
