Chapter 158: I want you..

KARL'S POV

No matter how hard I tried I could not seem to understand why Sophie continuously pushed me away. "Did she think I was not good for her?" I thought to myself, I was not so sure what she wanted. I had grown to love her and the more I tried to get close to her after confessing my love, the more she drifted away from me and continued to ignore my advances. " What was I going to do?"I asked myself and decided to talk to Max about it.

I called for Max and he came into my office to see me. " I need your help." I told him, exhaustion evidenced in my voice. With the look on Max's face, I knew he was puzzled with what I needed his help for.

" What do you need?" He responded almost immediately, determination in his voice. Max was the person I called to resolve my emotional issues. He was really good at fixing the problem.

" It's about Sophie." I said, worry itched in my voice. " What about her?" He asked curiously as he stared at me waiting for answers.

" I love her so much." Max chuckled, gesturing for me to continue, "She is determined to refuse all my advances."

Max laughed hysterically afterwards and I did not understand what I said that was funny. I frowned at him and he managed to control himself, " I am so sorry, I did not realize you were serious." He said trying to maintain his composure.

" Wait, you are serious?" He asked me, " Wih all due respect Karl, how do you expect to love two sisters?" He asked me, curiousity laced in his voice as he peered into my eyes.

I could see the confusion in Max's eyes as he tried to comprehend my situation. "I know it sounds complicated," I admitted, feeling a pang of guilt. "But my feelings for Sophie are real. It's not about loving two sisters, it's about finding the one person who completes me."

" And she does?" He asked me in disbelief, " What about Claire, have you thought about how she might feel about all of this?" He asked me. The look of disbelief on Max's face only fueled my determination.

" I understand it may seem impossible." I said earnestly pleading with him to understand. " But love does not always follow logic or rules. Sometimes you can't help who you fall for. Besides Claire left me so Yes, don't blame my heart for falling for someone else."

Max stared at me silently before finally speaking up " Karl have you considered that maybe Sophie is pushing you away because she realizes how much her sister loves you." His words hit me like a punch in the gut.

" I know that is not it, Max. She doesn't want to tell me about it though." I responded. Max sighed deeply before responding.

" Well, I don't think you have much of a choice now. Confront her about it." He advised, " I would be in my office Incase you need me." He added as he got up to leave.

Consumed in my thoughts, I decided that I was going to confront her as Max had advised. I picked up my keys and headed to her office.

As I walked down the hallway to Sophie's office, my heart pounded in my chest. The weight of Max's words lingered in my mind, questioning whether Claire's love for me was the reason behind Sophie pushing me away. I took a deep breath and knocked on her door.

Sophie opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise. "Karl, what are you doing here?" she asked, a hint of nervousness in her voice.

"I need to talk to you, Sophie," I said firmly, trying my best to maintain a calm demeanor. She looked hesitant but stepped aside to let me in.

As I entered Sophie's office, the tension between us was palpable. My heart raced as I tried to find the right words to say. "Sophie, we need to talk," I began, my voice trembling ever so slightly. She nodded silently and motioned for me to take a seat.

I sat down, taking a deep breath to steady myself. The silence hung heavy in the air as I tried to gather my thoughts. "Sophie," I started again, my voice filled with sincerity, "I've noticed that you've been pushing me away lately. And it's been tearing me apart."

As I settled into the chair, Sophie perched on the edge of her desk, her eyes fixed on mine. The intensity of her gaze made my heart skip a beat. "Sophie," I began softly, trying to convey all the emotions that had been building inside me for so long.

Taking a seat across from Sophie, I couldn't help but feel the weight of our unspoken words between us. My hands fidgeted nervously in my lap as I mustered up the courage to speak. "Sophie," I said gently, searching for any sign of understanding in her eyes

" Why dont you want me sophie?" I asked her, peering to her eyes but she kept mute. There was a long pause before Sophie finally spoke up. "Karl, it's not that simple," she said with tears welling up in her eyes. "I just can't do this." She told me firmly, turning her gaze from me. " But why Sophie?" I asked her curiousity laced in my voice.

I knew Sophie always wanted me so it amazed me why she would refuse me after all of this.

" Is it because of Claire. You know she does not matter to me anymore." I told her, Sophie raised her head to look at me, " it's not that." She said calmly.

" I have my own fears and insecurities that hold me back from fully embracing love again. Besides you hurt me." Her voice quivered as she continued speaking. "I'm afraid of getting hurt or losing myself again."

No matter which direction the conversation went, one thing became clear – Sophie had been carrying emotional baggage from the past that prevented her from fully opening up to me. " Why Sophie?" I asked her stretching my hands to reach her but she shoved them away. I knew I couldn't force his way into her heart.

" I guess I just have to be patient." I thought to myself determined be supportive until she was ready to let me in completely.
