68 – Not feeling the special bond

“Did you forget that we have to hang out after work?” Andrew let down his guard for the sake of Linda and asked, disappointment lacing his tone.

There was so much he wanted to discuss with Oliver but also had to come to terms with the fact that things were slowly beginning to change.

Oliver was unregretful as he explained, “Sorry. My woman comes first. You should go spend time with your woman too.”

Andrew looked gloomy at the mention of his woman but did not respond. It would have been easier to explain if Linda wasn’t there, but since she was, he had to wait for another day, which he could not see happening.

In two weeks, Oliver was going to get married and would go for a week honeymoon.

Surely, all his free time would belong to his wife after that, so Andrew did not have a part in the life of his best friend anymore.

They were both very busy, and Friday nights were their only days for hanging out, and after that blind date, things changed unexpectedly.

Andrew felt like he hadn’t seized the moment, especially at the time Oliver was equally single.

After some more chit-chats, he left. Oliver gave Linda a rundown of his work, and after closing, they went home and cooked together.

After eating, they had intimacy without sex, and it was so beautiful, feeling like a bonding moment for them.

The next day, Oliver took Linda around Spain, and the same on the third day amidst a lot of lovemaking and shopping.

“I can’t believe I’m letting you go again,” Oliver said with a frustrated sigh before kissing her passionately.

He began to understand the reason why Nathan never stayed a moment away from Mercedes ever since they began dating, even to their time of marriage.

His love for Linda felt like an addiction that made him constantly want her by his side.

It was going to be just two weeks before she became wholly his, but it felt like two years to him.

“We shall be getting married soon, and I will make sure to call you every day,” Linda tried to comfort him.

Their communication channel was great but did not take away the fact that they were going to greatly miss each other.

Linda arrived on Monday morning, going straight for lectures.

Because the wedding was in two weeks with both she and Oliver planning to take a week for their honeymoon, they could not meet the week before the event.

Just as Oliver was putting things in place for his absence to not affect the company’s performance, Linda was also making arrangements to have her notes sent to her by her best friend.

She also informed her lecturers and even invited all of them to the wedding.

On the wedding day, all the invited guests arrived at the luxurious hotel owned by the Legends. Families and friends, including business partners, arrived in their numbers.

Andrew equally arrived as the best man, and Oliver was eagerly waiting for his bride.

A lot of Linda’s classmates were in attendance, and so were her parents and family.

Gwen was the maid of honor, and after walking the aisle, Linda walked the aisle with her father.

Oliver’s nieces and nephews were flower girls and boys, making the event beautiful.

Linda arrived at the altar, and her father left, but Oliver felt something wrong.

He was not feeling the connection he always felt whenever his woman was around him. It made him so uncomfortable, as he kept staring at the woman, he kept smiling at him.

Nothing in him moved him to respond to her smiles or feel affectionate towards her, in spite of all the affection from the guests.

“Do you, Oliver Winters, take Miss Linda Ross, to be your lawful wedded wife, to love and to cherish…” the priest was saying, but Oliver could not take it anymore, fearing that something had happened to his woman.

No wonder he was feeling so uneasy throughout last night after speaking to her. Linda had said she was with Gwen and someone but refused to give the details about the person, saying she would tell him after the wedding.

“Wait,” Oliver interrupted, everyone began murmuring with confusion.

“Isn’t it bad luck to stop the priest in the middle of the vows?” One of the guests thought aloud, Mercedes and Nathan were equally disturbed.

Oliver noticed the unease on the face of Linda’s parents, his instincts further sending the message that something was indeed wrong.

Unable to take it anymore, he lifted the veil from the face of the woman in front of him without the priest’s instruction.

Shock expressions registered on the faces of the guests present, and the woman before him panicked when he asked with a cold tone and expression, “Who are you? You aren’t Linda.”

The auditorium broke into murmurs, Nathan and Mercedes were confused, so Nathan, who was standing in as his father, walked up to him and asked in a hushed tone,

“What’s going on?” This wedding was huge, and the media was there to report it. It would be a matter of great embarrassment if Oliver ruined it.

“This woman looks like Linda, but she’s not her,” Oliver responded to Nathan, his heart filled with worry.

Nathan hated bitches playing these kinds of games and was furious but wanted to be certain about the accusation.

“How do you know?” He asked seriously, Oliver explained.

“Linda and I share a bond, but I don’t feel it with this woman.”

Nathan was not liking this, and the worried look on Mercedes' face was already disturbing him greatly as he asked, “Are you sure?”

“I’m positive, Nathan,” Oliver said seriously, the woman dressed in the gown he suggested to Linda had beads of sweat on her face.

As a man who loved deeply and took keen interest in everything pertaining to his woman, Nathan could not doubt Oliver.

If he said that the woman in front of him was not the one he proposed to, then that was true. “If you say she’s not the one, then I believe you, but we have to use her to find your bride,” he suggested.

Oliver’s eyes were teary, afraid that something bad happened to Linda. Who is this woman who looked so much like Linda? For as long as he knew, she did not have a sibling or was she the one Linda promised to tell him about?

Aside from all his frustrations, Nathan’s words registered on his mind, but the understanding was far off.

“I don’t understand,” he said honestly, Nathan explained it to him.

“If you expose her now, your bride might be in danger wherever she is, and this woman might escape. Marry her, and get the truth out of her. She will be able to lead us to your bride, and after that, you deal with her as you please. I will always be there to help and support you.”

Nathan was so upset, but if things went wrong, it would be a huge blow to the Legends, so he had to do it this way, instead of exposing the woman publicly.

Besides, Oliver’s bride could also be in danger. Nathan’s suggestions worked all the time, so Oliver had no doubt this plan would also work.

He glared at the woman at the altar and agreed for the wedding to proceed. Throughout the refreshment, he was cold, wondering what happened to Linda and who this woman here was.

The honeymoon was canceled because he did not intend to sleep with a woman he did not love. Arriving home, the woman he married was disappointed.

“You said that you have a surprise for our honeymoon,” she said, having read all of Linda’s chats with Oliver.

Oliver glared at her, his gaze dark with hate. “This is the surprise, so out with it. Who are you?” He snarled.
