Chapter 20.

Chapter 20.

~Elijah~

As I watched her sleep peacefully in my arms, my mind diverted towards what she said.

*‘Stupid of me to believe I could ever have a normal life. That even if God took my father from me, he gave me another one to protect me.’*

All night my mind filled with thousands of ways to kill that bastard.

Determination filled me as I vowed that not a hair of her head would ever be hurt ever again.

That motherfucker would pay for hurting what was mine and I would make sure of it.

I removed myself from my safe haven, trying hard not to wake her up. Her eyes still puffy from all the crying and dark circles covered here lovely eyes.

Taking my phone, I left the room, going straight to the kitchen while dialling a number that can either help me or ruin me.

“You must have a death wish Frost.” His way of greeting didn’t surprise me. His promise to never see me again was about to break but I needed him. And with his help, I could take down any nightmare my angel had to suffer.

“I need to redeem that favour you own me Cross” I said. Dylan Cross approached me two years ago when his wife was kidnapped by a mafia circle. Using my high connections and resources we were able to save her but the emotional trauma that Emily suffered was something no one should go through.

“Ahh. Who is she?” I could detect his nasty smirk through his voice and it made me want to punch it of his face.

“She’s mine and someone had the audacity to hurt her.” My blood boiled remembering the horrendous tale Maya told me. The urge to shelter her in my arms far far away from here was too strong to ignore but I had a few matter to solve. I had both mine and her demons to slaughter before we could have the peace we both desperately crave.

The resources I used to save Emily had come with a price that I had no control over them again. I couldn’t ask for anymore favours but Dylan had successfully gained their trust and friendship when he generously helped them in their organization. And now I needed them to get a certain bastard away from his home and into my hell, so I could tell the world. Show them what would happen if they ever touch my angel.

“What is it that you want?” He got serious. Knowing the rage of someone touching what wasn’t theirs.

I was about to answer when I heard quite footsteps behind. I swirled around and every tension left my tight body when my eyes connected to Maya’s.

“I’ll call you later” I ended the call before he could say anything. Too desperate to feel my angels slender body against mine.

“Come here.” His eyes lit up and a small smile graced her lips as she took the final steps towards me. I opened my arms and she crashed right into them. It felt like everything was right in place again.

“Everything okay?” She asked in a small voice. I knew what she was asking. Asking if last night had changed anything between us. My stupid angel.

Swiftly picking her up, I placed her on her kitchen counter and placed myself between her legs. “There nothing in the world that can ruin anything between us.” I took a hold of her cheeks “I promise you that I will diminish every problem, every nightmare of yours and love you like no other.”

I kissed her then without waiting for her reply, sealing my vow for life. She was my present ad future and I will kill any past that threatens to destroy that.

~Maya~

Elijah had his driver deliver his clothes from the dry cleaners to my place. He wanted us both to arrive at work together and no matter how hard I argued, he won’t budge.

“Elijah, I still don’t think…”

“Maya, I’ve made my decision. It doesn’t matter if we arrive together. And even if it does. No one would dare peep a word if they value their position in my company.”

“But…”

“Enough Maya. End of.” He raised an eyebrow towards me, fiddling with his tie which looked quite perfect to me but he still yanked at it every two seconds.

Stepping in front of him, I removed his hands from his abused tie and started fixing it myself, very much aware of his heated glaze on me.

After I was done, I took a hold of it and yanked hard towards me and kissed him hard. I loved the new found bravery I had with him. No longer nervous.

The weight that was on my chest for years, had been lifted when Elijah looked at me with so much acceptance and love even after listen to all the gruesome things that happened to me.

I will love this man to the end of eternity.

Pulling away from me, he pecked my nose, sounding utterly out of breath “Why did you do that baby?”

“Because I can.” My smile was so wide it hurt my jaw but nothing can remove that emotion from my soul. I was happy. My soul was happy and it was all because of this amazing person in front of him.

Giving me a smile of his own he swatted my ass and said “We better get going. I don’t think your boss would appreciate late comers.” He said taking a step away and buttoning up his coat.

“Yeah, you’re right. He can be a jerk about it. I think it is better if we leave” stifling my smile, I looked one last time in the mirror.

My surprised screech would have travelled throughout the building when Elijah swiftly bend over and picked me up over his shoulder giving a harsh swat on my already stinging cheek. “You will pay for that Miss Campbell.”

“Elijah put me down.” He turned, gathering my stuff in his hand, walking straight towards the door.

“No way. We need to hurry up remember?” He said, his voice filled with unusual laughter.

“I can hurry with my own legs. Put me down”

“No can do, I like you very” much where you are right now.” Turning his head his smacked a kiss on my hip, making my face burn up red.

“You like me flashing everyone the fact that I’m not wearing anything underneath this skirt.” My lips tugged in a smug smile when he immediately halted right out my door after locking it easily with one hand.

“What did you just say?” His voice turned dark and dangerously low.

“What you just heard Mr. Frost.” Immediately I was swung upright. I didn’t had a chance to balance myself when his lips smashed to mine.

“You will definitely be the death of me Maya Campbell.”

I moaned, not able to come up with anything. My mind burned with the need of him. Just him.

Before I had a chance to accelerate anything, he pulled ways, brushing his clothes. His face taking the edge of the ruthless business man that he was. Side stepping me he walked towards the elevator without a backwards glace. “Let’s go”

I would have been offended if it was for the bulge I saw in his pants. My smile still intact, I followed him out. Even if my body throbbed for him. The sheer satisfaction that I affected him just as much as he did me, was enough.

*****

Stepping in the lobby, I tried my best to appear professional, but failed miserably. With Elijah’s hand on the small of my back, guiding me towards the elevators. The whole floor stopped mid steps, turning our way like we were a different species.

I dared glance at Elijah, only for him to appear as if nothing odd happened. As the dozens of eyes weren’t drilling holes in us, judging. I could already guess the rumours that would start the minute we leave their company.

I deliberately ignored the glares of the women and the cocky smirks of the men, who no doubt saw me now as an open field. I hoped to God I was wrong.

As soon as we arrived towards Elijahs private elevator, he spun me towards him and kissed me. My heart stilled but this time not out of passion but fear. Fear that now there was no chance to get out of anything. Fear now no one would look at me like an equal but as an office slut.

And the multiple gasps I heard confirmed that nothing would be the same in my work place again.

Elijah tried to push his tongue in me but the anger I felt helped me spontaneously to keep my mouth shut. Anger for taking the choice away from me.

With a growl he pulled away, looking at me with the same fury that matched mine. He stilled when he realized the anger that dripped from my every nerve was for him. The elevator dinged, announcing its arrival and I didn’t waste a second to jump in. The thought of looking at the people, who no wonder must be looking at us with huge eyes made me wanted to run a thousand miles away.

Elijah followed after me and shoved his card in the slot that would take us directly to his floor.

The whole ride was filled with tension. I was fully aware of Elijah’s glare on me but I couldn’t spare a glance towards him or else every restrained anger would be unleashed. And no one wanted that right now.

The minute the doors of the elevator, I moved fast. I was glad Maria wasn’t at her desk or else the plan to seclude myself away from Elijah right now would have failed. I needed a few moments to calm myself and I couldn’t do that with a million questions thrown my way.

My I didn’t move fast enough, because I was picked up with sharp moves and immediately placed at the same position I was this morning. On his shoulder. This morning had been playful, filled with happiness but he had to ruin it. He had to announce to the world how I fucked my boss.

As soon as I we entered his office, he threw me on his couch and went to lock his door.

I sat up looking at him as he stalked towards me, his body tight and eyes filled with fury. What the fuck did he have to be angry about?

He bend over wrapping his hand around my chin, jerking me towards him. “The next time I kiss you, I expect to be kissed back angel.” His voice sounded a hell lot dangerous but that didn’t scare me.

My anger made me strong, making me swat his hand away from his face. “The next time you decide to take a decision away from me. You let me know.”

He flinched then, eyes going a little bit soft. “Why didn’t you want to be known that you’re with me?”

Ranking my hands in my hair in pure frustration, I looked at him. “Elijah I wasn’t ready.” He crouched in front of in his hutches, taking a hold on my knees.

“What weren’t you ready for?” his voice so low, like he was afraid of my answer.

“I wasn’t ready to involve the whole world into this, us yet. The more who think they have the right to our relationship, the more I’m afraid you’ll be taken away from me.”

He sighed heavily, taking a seat beside me and bringing me on his lap to straddle him. “Do you actually think I’d rather believe someone else over you?” he pulled me closer and nuzzled his nose with mine. “You can never know what I feel for you Maya. The constant need to be with you. To touch you, to protect you at any cost. It’s driving me crazy but that’s the crazy I’m ready to endure because you are my forever.” Giving me a small kiss he whispered “I’ve got you angel”

I kissed him hard then, not being able to stop myself. The fear, the vulnerability that he might be taken away from me has me on edge every second. But I’ willing to fight tooth and nail for this guy.

Because he was worth it and I hope to God I was too for him to keep me.

“Tell me angel.” He growled in between kisses.

“You’ve got me Elijah.”

“Forever.”

Got I hope. I hope it was forever because I couldn’t survive any other way.
