Harley POV

I am very happy to spend time together with my mom. I felt so alive to be with her again. I came back to the dorm and two hours had passed but she hadn't called yet so I called her number.

It's ringing and I waited for her to answer. My heart felt at ease when she finally pressed the answer button but I was surprised to hear my stepfather's voice.

" Mr. Evo? Why are using my mom's phone? Can you give it to her?", I said but I was shocked by what I heard.

" Your mom got in an accident after going home while seeing you! She can't talk to you in the meantime. Don't worry, she's okay now. She's resting." He told me which made got anxious.

" What? That can't be. I will visit her. I'll tell my teacher ---", I stopped when my stepdad told me that she brought her back to Cebu.

" Just worry about your studies, okay? She needs to rest so she should stay here. I'll let her call you if she's totally fine. Are you feel better now?", he said to me but his voice seemed cold and not paying attention to me.

I was about to tell him that I wanted to video call mom but he suddenly got mad.

" Why? Aren't you doubting me? I am not a liar. I won't lie anything in the family. I just want both of you a good life and future." He firmly said on the other line which made me shocked about it.

Did he find out that I met with my mom yesterday? So what? She's my mom and we want to spend time together just like before. What is the big deal here?

I took all my courage and answered him.

" Why? Is there anything wrong with it? Besides, you're always busy with your businesses and I want Mom to have a good time with me. I think it's not a big deal right?", I said and took a deep breath.

I hear sudden silence and his breathing gets calmer. I was about to cut the call when he spoke again.

" I'm sorry, Harley. A father shouldn't think like that in the family. I hope you can forgive me. Okay, sweetie?", hearing him calling me sweetie suddenly made my heart rise.

I don't know what it means but I felt different when I was talking with my stepdad. His manly husky voice made me feel like I wanted to be touched.

"Argh, what the--", I mumbled and took a deep breath.

I cleared my throat and answered him.

" Okay. Summer is coming, tell mom that we can have good times again during my vacation. Please take good care of her and let me talk to her once she's fine, okay?", I said and ended our discussion.

I can't believe what is happening to me. I shook my head and forgot about it. I am just curious about my mom's condition. If she got into an accident, he must call her to report it but he didn't.

"Maybe it's not that bad", I mumbled.

Tomorrow is our exam so I decided to read some of my notes before going to sleep. I checked my phone if Bryce texted or called but my phone hadn't received any messages or calls from him I got a text from my best friend Andrea.

I feel excited to check my inbox.

" How are you, Harley? I miss you!"

That's what Andrea texted her.

She immediately replied to her best friend.

" I'm fine. It's been a while."

I texted back.

While waiting for her text, I checked Bryce's Instagram account and I was surprised that it was locked. Her phone rings again.

" I heard about you and Bryce. I can't believe that both of you ended up together!"

She messaged it to me. I laughed a bit while reading it. I can't believe that until now Andrea was hurt because I took Bryce from her. I decided to call her and she answered it.

"Are you jealous, Andrea? I thought Bryce was not your type.", I said to her and I heard her laughing too.

" What's wrong with you, Andrea? Are you crazy? What's funny?", I asked her and she told me that she was laughing because the Bryce I knew had already to the U.S.

My eyes widened after hearing it.

" What? Are you pranking me?", I said while waiting for Andrea's answer.

"No! I'm telling the truth. I heard his dad sent him back for vacation! Hahaha, don't worry, he will be back in two weeks! Did I scare you?", she asked me and that made me get pissed.

I quickly turned off my call and contacted my boyfriend instead. His phone is ringing but he's not answering it. I feel like I'm going nuts for what he did to me.

" How can he leave the country without telling me? I'm his girlfriend but why does he need to be private?", I shouted in my room until I began to cry.

He's my first in everything. I thought Bryce was a gentleman and a good guy but I guess he's the same as my father.

After that day, I decided to forget about him.

I continued my studies and I felt relieved when I finally got a call from my mom.

Two weeks later...

Summer is coming. Harley was excited to meet and bond with her mom again. One month left and she can go back to Cebu to reunited with her mom and her rich stepfather.

She was in the middle of her exams when she heard that Bryce had gone back. She was on her way to buy some food in groceries when she saw a familiar face in front of her with a bouquet and chocolates in his hands.

She stops and visualizes him then she finally recognizes that it is her runaway boyfriend.

" Bryce?", she mumbled with confusion in her face.

Bryce widened his lips and nodded his head.

" Yes, it's me, Harley. I missed you!", he said.
