Chapter 88

Lorenzo POV…

I had no choice but to come to Caleb's home. I stood in front of Angelina's house, my heart pounding in my chest. I had been driving around for hours, trying to decide whether or not to come here. But I couldn't take it anymore. I needed to see her at any cost.

I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. A few moments later, the door opened and Emma appeared.

“Hello, Lorenzo,” she said. “What brings you here?”

I hesitated. “I was just asking about Angelina as she didn't come to the office today so…?,” I said.

She frowned. “She's not here,” she said. “She went out of the country. Didn't she tell you anything?”

My heart sank. “We… When did it happen? “ I asked.

“I asked her about it, and she said she got a job offer,” Emma said sadly. “Last day, she booked her flight and she didn't even tell me where she went. She only said that she was going out of the country."

I nodded, my heart heavy. “Thank you,” I said. “I'll come back later.”

I turned and walked away, defeated. I couldn't talk more. My throat felt like someone was squeezing it. I felt like a fool. What the hell happened that made her drive away so far that she had to leave this country?

I got in my car and drove away. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew that I couldn't go to my mansion yet. I needed to clear my head.

I drove for hours, aimlessly wandering through the city. I thought about Angelina and everything that had happened between us.

I finally pulled over to the side of the road and got out of my car. I stood there for a long time, staring at the city skyline. I knew that I had to find her at any cost. I had to know about my baby as well. I couldn't let them leave me alone with my nightmares anymore. I wanted my family with me.

I took a deep breath and got back in my car. I drove back to my mansion and went inside. I went to my bedroom and sat down on my bed. I was exhausted, but I couldn't sleep.

I lay down on my bed and stared at the ceiling. How could she snatch my right to be a father? How could she decide our baby's future on her own?

I would find her even if I had to go through heaven and hell to bring her back, I would. I was determined to keep her near me at any cost now.

After some days, I woke up with a new aura, a new power. I entered my office and everyone greeted me, but I just ignored them and went inside my cabin.

I sat at my desk, staring at the phone in my hand. Furthermore, I had been debating whether to call Antonio for weeks now, but I finally decided that I desperately needed to know where Angelina was.

I picked up the phone and dialed Antonio's number. The phone rang a few times before Antonio answered.

“Hello?” Antonio said.

“Hey, Antonio,” I said. “It's me, Lorenzo.”

“Hey, Lorenzo,” Antonio said. “What's up?”

“I need your help,” I said, sounding desperate, but I didn't care now. “I need you to find Angelina.”

There was a pause on the other end of the line. “Angelina?” Antonio said. “Why do you need me to find her?”

“Because she had been missing,” Lorenzo said. “ She is Caleb's daughter, and she worked for me, but she suddenly resigned, Ignore me when you get any details,” I asked.

“I don't know, Lorenzo,” Antonio said. “I will try my best to find her but send me some basic details.”

“I know,” I said. “But I'm willing to pay you whatever you want.”

Antonio sighed. “Fine,” he said. “I'll see what I can do.”

“Thank you, Antonio,” I said. “I appreciate it.”

I hung up the phone and leaned back in my chair. I felt a sense of relief. I had hired many investigators to get me her information. I couldn't leave her alone.

A few days later, I received a call from Antonio.

“Hey, Lorenzo,” Antonio said. “I've got some news.”

“What is it?” I asked anxiously.

“I was unable to find Angelina,” Antonio said. “I checked all the usual places, but she's nowhere to be found.”

My heart sank. “Are you certain?” I asked.

“I'm certain,” Antonio said. “She's gone.”

I hung up the call without any word. I didn't know what to do. I felt lost and alone. I had finally gotten up the courage to reach out to her, and now I was back where I started. I was all alone again.

I also started going to therapy again. I needed to talk to someone about how I was feeling. My therapist helped me to understand my emotions and to develop coping mechanisms. I told my therapist about my nightmares and my anger issues, she helped me a lot.

I was staring at the stack of papers in front of me. I was supposed to be working on a new project, but I couldn't focus. My mind kept wandering back to Angelina and the fact that I couldn't find her anywhere.

I had been stressed about finding Angelina for weeks now. I had been working overtime and neglecting my health. As a result, I lost a big project, I was so frustrated and angry with myself that I lost a deal.

I was furious. I knew that I was to blame for losing the project, but I couldn't help but take it out on my employees. After Angelina, everything was the same again as it used to be before her in my life.

I turned away from the window and walked back to my desk. I picked up the phone and called my assistant.

“I want to see all the project managers in my office in 10 minutes,” I roared, and he stammered.

I hung up the phone and went back to my work. I tried to focus, but I couldn't. I was too angry. I needed to let out my frustration, my anger.

A few minutes later, my office door opened, and the project managers walked in.

“Have a seat,” I said and looked at each one of them.

The project managers sat down with nervousness, and I stared at them with my cold eyes. They moved into their seats uncomfortably.

“I'm very disappointed in all of you,” I said. “We lost the project because of your incompetence.”

The project managers looked at each other confused. They wanted to say something.

“What do you mean, sir?” one of them asked.

“I mean that you all screwed up,” I said. “You didn't meet the deadlines, and you didn't deliver the quality of work that I expected.”

The project managers tried to defend themselves, but I wasn't listening. I was too angry.

“I'm firing all of you,” I said. “Get out of my office.”

They wanted to protest a lot, but I was not listening to any of that, and they knew better than to not cross me again, or I would destroy them.

The project managers stood up and walked out of the office. I was alone again.

I sat down at my desk and put my head on the head of my chair. I was a mess. I had lost the project, I had fired my employees, and I still couldn't find Angelina. Nothing was going fine in my life.

I didn't know what to do anymore. I felt like I was drowning. I needed to get away from the office. I needed to clear my head.

I stood up and walked out of my office. I got in my car and drove away without the driver, I didn't have a destination in mind. I just had to get away.

I pulled over to the side of the road and got out of my car. I stood there for a long time, staring at the night sky. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. The night was shining brightly with stars, but my life star was missing. My star was surrounded by clouds, which I couldn't remove and find my star.

I knew that it wouldn't be easy, but I was determined to change my life. I was determined to bring back my family.
