When Eve said we needed to talk, she had a serious look on her face like none I had seen before. I instantly knew it was something serious that she wanted us to talk about because Eve was normally a cheerful and lively person.

She walked over to me while I saw Silver and Maya still conversing. Silver was smiling and chuckling occasionally but from where I stood I couldn't see if Maya was doing the same because she had her back to me.

“ Alright, what's the problem, Eve? “ I asked her with a straight face because I wasn't in a good mood.

If it were another person who asked to talk to me right now I would have ignored the person and gotten the hell out of here. But because Eve and I’s friendship has been since childhood. Hence, I decided to show her some respect and keep my anger at bay.

“ Why didn't you comment on how Maya looked? She's your model Liam!! You didn't even stay close to her during the whole process of the photo shoot as you were supposed to!! Why are you treating her that way!! “ Eve exclaimed but reduced her voice afterward because it looked like she didn't want anyone to know we having this conversation.

“ Really?? Are you kidding me?? “ I asked her and scoffed as I looked at her with narrow eyes. I knew what I did wasn’t ethical at all but I just couldn’t stand the fact of Silver being all over her.

“ I'm being serious Liam. If you like this girl just give it a shot!! “ Eve said to me with a smirk.

“ I don’t like... “ I exclaimed angrily but paused to look around to see if anyone heard me exclaim just now before I turned to Eve again. I knew I went a little overboard with the way I wanted to yell just now.

“ I don’t like her in the way you’re thinking okay? Even though I do like her, I can’t be romantically involved with my worker, it’s against my working ethics, “ I said to Eve in a hushed tone and a much calmer way.

“ But that wasn’t what I heard about you and Bianca. Isn’t she one of your workers too? “ Eve asked me with her words dripping with sarcasm.

I facepalmed and massaged my forehead when I heard her say that. I should have known that those fucking security guys wouldn’t keep their mouths shut. For Eve to have known about this means my workers had been gossiping about it.

“ Look that was in the past and please can we not talk about this anymore because nothing can change my mind. She’s walking towards us. Let’s pretend we never had this conversation okay? “ I said to Eve.

Eve rolled her eyes at me but still nodded her head in understanding. I didn’t wait for Maya to reach Eve and I before I walked away to my car without looking back.

It took a moment before Maya entered the car and when she did I pretended like she wasn’t even there. I know this was childish of me but I felt it was the best option for me till I figured out exactly what it was that I felt that this girl.

When I heard her phone beeped and I saw that the sender was Silver, I couldn’t help but scoff. It was so typical of Silver to always play the nice and approachable guy.

The fact that Maya ignored me too and began chuckling at whatever message it was that Silver sent to her really annoyed me.

“ So this is how you really are huh? “ I turned to Maya and asked her with an angry look. 

“ How do you mean Sir? I don’t quite get what you mean. “ She asked me with a frown and her brows furrowed.

“ You love attention and flirting with guys huh? I saw what you were doing with Silver, “ I said to her and turned my attention back to my phone.

“ I did all that for you, Sir, “ She answered me with a sincere look on her face even though I hurt her feelings by insulting her.

I couldn’t help but look at her because hearing her say those words made my heart race. I looked at her with furrowed brows and all I could see written on her face was sincerity.

“ I… I mean I did all that for the company Sir, “ Maya said again with a little stutter as she avoided making eye contact with me. I loved the other reason better than this one.

“ How do you mean? “ I asked her trying to keep a stoic expression on my face.

“ As your assistant, I felt I needed to build a certain friendship and trust with your business partners and not do anything to piss them off. I just played along with him because I felt it would benefit you. I mean, the company, “ She explained and to be honest there was a sense in what she was saying.

But the fact that she had said she did it for me before correcting herself and saying she did it for the company made me feel like she really did it for me and this gladdened my heart.

“ So does that mean even though along the line they demand sex you’d also play along because you’re doing it for the company? “ I asked, putting on a questioning look on my face.

“ What? “ She scoffed and looked at me angrily. I immediately knew that I had gone a bit overboard but there was no way I was ever gonna apologize to any of the workers even if I was wrong. My pride would never let me do that.

Maya opened her mouth to talk but a knock on her side of the window made her pause. She clicked the button which wined down the glass window and the face of Eve’s assistant came into view which made me frown.

“ Mr Grey said we should give you all the outfits that you used for the photoshoot today as a gift to you, “ Agnes, Eve’s assistant said with a smile on her face. Maya frowned after hearing what Agnes said and So did I.

“ Please tell him this is too much, “ Maya said to Eve.

“ Mr Grey insists, “ Agnes replied.

Maya turned to look at me with a straight face and asked me an unexpected question which melted my heart. Also, it made me really feel bad.
