Chapter 81: I Can't Lose Them
Lorenzo
I was close to the house when I saw that it was engulfed in total darkness which made me frown in confusion.
"This can't be my house, can it? I never left my house in darkness, did Natalie turn off the lights or something?"
These thoughts kept running through my head as I approached my house but those thoughts flew away when I saw the front door wide open and I knew instantly that Natalie would never do that. She is too scared.
"Fuck!" I swore under as fear suddenly came over me, I rushed out of my car and sprinted into the darkness.
"Natalie! Fiona!" I shouted, my heart beat sped up when I heard nothing.
I began to panic, yes the almighty Lorenzo Ballmer, the coldest CEO of a successful company panicking. But this is not the first time I have panicked. My mind was filled with all sorts of stuff that could have happened to them and I was scared.
I made my way into the house and somehow found the light switch. I turned on the light and this house, the scene in front of me, wasn't something I expected. Almost all of my bodyguards lay dead on the floor and the rest injured. I ran upstairs into one of the rooms, checking to see if she or Fiona was there but no sign of them.
"Natalie! Fiona!" I kept calling, just hoping they would be there but they weren't there.
I take out my phone to call the investigators and Alex. Fear overwhelmed me, I never felt this scared in my life before. My heart hurt, I felt tears trying to escape my eyes and I regret ever leaving them alone at home. Maybe if I stayed, they would have still been here.
The thought of them came running back in my mind and I couldn't help but think about all the bad stuff that might happen to them. I slumped to the floor with my head on my hand, tears threatened to escape as my mind ran on Fiona and Natalie. I can't lose them, I can't even think of it. Fiona is just seven years who has her life ahead of her and Natalie, the only woman I fell deeply in love with.
The woman is the mother of my daughter. What will happen if she is gone? I would be depressed and sad for the rest of my life if I lose any of them, I might even kill myself and then my phone buzzed, I quickly picked it up.
"Lorenzo, where are you? The investigators are here." I heard Alex's voice and I let out a breath before opening my mouth to speak.
"I am up here." I said in a low voice and then heard footsteps a few seconds later.
He sat down next to me and I tried to keep in my tears but it was hard. It was hard because they were the pepper I loved so much and I would rather die if they are hurt or gone.
"It is going to be okay." He said and engulfed me in a hug and that was when the tears rolled down.
I didn't care if I am the coldest CEO or a tough man because at this moment, I am just a man who had the two people in his life taken away from him and he is scared of what will happen to them.
"I can't lose them!" I cried out.
Natalie Pov.
"Mother! Mother!!"
Someone was calling me but I couldn't answer, I was trapped in a world of darkness and I couldn't move my hand, my feet and my body was weak.
"Mother, please wake up." I heard that tiny voice again and I began to recognize whose voice it was.
I knew it was Fiona's voice but my brain wasn't cooperating with me so I couldn't move but I wasn't going to give up that fast.
"Mother, wake up please!" The voice cried louder and that is when it clicks, Fiona is here with me.
I wanted to hug her, to engulf her in a big hug and know that she is fine but I couldn't because I was unconscious but for some reason, I could hear her voice.
"Mother!"
My eyes opened when I felt someone shaking my body. I blinked the dizziness away and then looked up to see a crying Fiona. I wasted no time pulling her in my arms and began to look for any injuries.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I asked, checking her body and she shook her head.
"No, I am fine."
I let out a sigh of relief, pulling her into my arms once more and began scanning the room. We were in a closed room with one door that seemed locked, no furniture and a small window that even Fiona can't fit through. It was shining sunlight into the room which told me it was already morning.
"Mother, where are we?" Fiona asked as my eyes scanned the room.
"I don't know." I replied as I stood up, trying to see if I got help and walking towards the door.
I was trying to find an exit or a way to escape because I just had to. Fiona can't be here, this is too dangerous for her. I tried first to open the door but it didn't work so I went searching the room for anything that can help us escape but unfortunately, the room was empty. I sighed, sitting back down on the floor and Fiona joined me.
My mind began to explode with all sorts of bad things but I tried to keep only positive thoughts in my head. My mind kept going to Esther, is she here? Will she hurt us? I don't know who is responsible for this but I will protect Fiona at any cost even if it means I get hurt in the process.
"Mother, are we stuck here?" Fiona asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. I sighed, looking at her.
"No dear. We will find a way out, okay?"
I don't want her to get scared that we were stuck here and begin to cry again.
"But is father going to be okay?" She asked and I bit my lips.
My mind has also been running with thoughts about Lorenzo and I seriously don't know how he is reacting to us being gone right now. I miss him so much, I miss his Kisses and our morning cuddles. I miss everything about him and feel very hurt that he has to go through pain because of us missing. But I just hope that he finds it soon, I just hope that he is okay and not stressing himself too much because of us. His health is important, I am going to protect Fiona at any cost.
"I don't know, Fiona." I responded to her questions and she let out a breath and then sadness overwhelmed her which made me upset.
"I miss my father, do you miss him as well?" She asked and I hummed in response.
"I missed watching our favorite movie, I missed having breakfast together. Mother, when will these people let us go?" I felt the tears in my eyes.
Gosh, I miss Lorenzo but I am scared of Fiona's safety. I don't want anything bad to happen to her.
"I don't know, Fiona."
I can't tell her that they might not let us leave this alive. It only makes her more scared.
"Mother, are we going to die?"
"No, Fiona. We aren't, we will find a way out of this place, okay?" She nodded.
We will find a way, I will make sure of that.
