Twenty One
Olivia put her phone on the bed. She turned around and was about to leave the room. When she suddenly heard ding behind her. It sounds like a text message sent to a phone. She looked at her phone; it was not hers. She narrowed her eyes as she looked around the room. She finally saw Alex's phone on the table. She walked towards it and took it. She swiped it up and tried to unlock; she used a different passcode, but it did not work. She used his passcode, but she already guessed that it would not work because he might not find it funny to do it.
She sighed and decided to use her birthday date, and it unlocked. She was shocked; she shook her head. He was really full of surprises, though. He used her fingerprint on the office elevator; he even used her birthday date as his passcode. She blushed. She clicked on the message and saw a message from an unknown number. She opened the message, which read, Mr. Alex, don't be too harsh on Olivia. She just feels bad because you treat her like she's caged. I hope you will not let go of her just because of this. She is acting nice because she is still trying to get Ethan back. (I am sure you will find a better woman.) That was the content of the message. She did not need anyone to tell her who the message was from. If it was in her previous life, when she sees this, she will think she was doing it for her own good and even feel happy that she chose Emily as her best friend. She recalled that in her previous life, Emily took Alex's number from her phone. When she asked her why, she said she wanted to help her talk to him so he might rethink and let her go one day.
She looked upward at the other messages he had sent her. She even saw the one she sent to him yesterday about her going to the hospital to meet Ethan. She shook her head, saying, She is her best friend indeed.
She always wondered why Alex was always so frightening and cold towards her in the past, even though she did not do anything to agitate him. Now she understands that it was her so-called best friend who was behind it all.
The room door was pushed open, and Olivia wanted to hide so it would not look like she did not trust him and was scrolling through his phone. But she did not know that it actually makes him happy if he sees that. Alex raised an eyebrow when he saw her trying to hide.
"What are you hiding?" He asked her.
Olivia pursed her lips and looked at him. "Your phone got a text message, so I took it and was about to come and give it to you just now," She said, trying to act normal so he would not be suspicious of her.
Alex nodded. He collected his phone from her and looked at it. She saw him frown when he opened the message before closing it expressionlessly. Olivia looked at him with an innocent expression and asked, "Who is it?" She asked.
"Just a nobody," He responded.
"What are you hiding from me? How did you get Emily's number?" She asked him, and she felt angry at the thought that he read Emily's text messages. Was he not supposed to block her instead of giving her the attention she was craving?
Alex chuckled, "That means you already went through the message then. Are you jealous?" He asked.
Olivia rolled her eyes and asked, "What is there to be jealous about? You are not really that handsome," She said with a laugh. She knew that he would not pay attention to her no matter what; even if Emily stripped naked, he would not look at her, so she trusted him about that. Emily will probably commit suicide if she knows what Olivia is thinking.
Alex laughed, "Oh really. I am sure there is no man as handsome as I am in this city or even the world," He said.
Olivia rolled her eyes. "You are narcissistic," She said.
Alex walked towards her and hugged her. "But you love it? Right?" He asked.
Olivia shook her head. No, I don't; I am the most beautiful," She said. Alex nodded helplessly and said, Yes, you are. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever met," He said.
Olivia smiled happily.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
He glanced at the phone.
Olivia saw the name clearly. It was his grandma who was calling him. She tried to leave his embrace so he would be able to concentrate on his phone call, but he held her more tightly, and then he answered the call.
He put the phone on his ear. Hello," He said.
