Chapter 43 Pregnant 2

Chapter 43 Pregnant 2
Pregnant 2

Rena’s POV

We were number forty two at the doctors appointments. Staying in here made me realize that I wasn’t the only one in this kind of situation.

There were others just like me and while I felt a sense of relief, I also found it pretty hard to understand.

I still had conflicting thoughts inside me, but I didn’t want to convince myself because I knew that Monroe wouldn’t be the support system I needed.

“We went out. She’s with me. I’m certainly not doing that. It’s her. No I’m not telling you our location. You don’t need to be here. Hold on, I’m no longer a child.”

Lila seemed to be talking to someone and I had no strength to care about it. I didn’t want anything that would deter or influence my decision.

“Should I tell him where we are?” She mumbled beside me while covering the phone’s mouthpiece.

I simply nodded as I couldn’t be bothered about what happens next.

“Oh. Okay then”

She ended the call and sat back beside me, using her tiny hands to hold onto mine.

“Do you want me to go in with you when it’s our turn?” She asked me calmly as she gazed at me. Quietly waiting for my decision.

She did this throughout the trip here. Quietly asking for my opinion in order not to trigger my anger and anxiety. If I said yes, she would proceed. If I said no, she wouldn’t move further.

I closed my eyes and rested my head on her shoulders allowing her to pat my head slightly. I imagined myself inside there. All alone. As the doctors would remove a piece of me. A piece of me I had made with a man I was in love with. I couldn’t deal with it alone so I quietly nodded against her neck.

“You want me there?” She asked again. Possibly for clarity.

“Yes please”

“Okay. Don’t worry. It’s me and you against the world”

Now this was why I loved Lila. No questions, no interrogations. She knew when I didn’t want to say a word. She knew not to trespass. But I couldn’t help but wonder if she would still stick by me if she found out I was about to kill her future nephew or niece.

Lila loved babies. And they loved her too. I had seen her with countless babies. And now I was about to kill one who was directly related to her. She would hate me. I knew she would. Which was why I was determined to never let her know that Ethan Micah Monroe was the father to my baby.

“Will you ever tell me what happened?”

“Someday” I answered in a tired voice. A white lie. Because I wasn’t sure if I could open up to anyone about what had happend.

“Okay” She placed a peck on my head and continued massaging my fingers lightly.

I shut out all thoughts, feelings and emotions as I just let myself sink in her scent. Lila had a flowery scent that seemed calming to the soul.

And she was gentle. And sweet. We weren’t like a regular manager and her actress. We were best friends. And had somehow turned into sisters along the line.

I loved her. And I had no doubt that she loved me too. And I would do everything in my power to make sure it remains that way.

“Number forty one get ready please”

The attendant called out and a chubby lady stood up and walked into the ICU. I had already changed into the hospital gown and Lila still wore the same dress. The lady had a carefree look on her face which seemed to imply that it wasn’t her first time doing something like this.

How did they do it? Barge in and remove a piece of them and not care? I couldn’t even refer it as my baby cause I knew that if I did…

If I did I wouldn’t be able to go in there. I would march out and raise it. And I didn’t want that. I didn’t want anything that would tie me down to Monroe.

It had been two weeks since I last saw him. I finally thought that he had become better. Everything happened a month ago and he had been relentless ever since we fought the next day.

Two weeks ago he stopped coming. I thought he wanted to give me space. But apparently not as I had seen a picture of him and another lady in the news.

Three days after that, I am sitting in an abortion clinic waiting to be called to remove the seed he had planted inside me.

“Rena in as much as I support every decision of yours, I won’t lie and pretend I am in support of this one. Rena this is a life. A life you created. A life inside of you. This child will grow up and call you mother. I don’t want to know who the bastard is but I want you to not regret this later.

If you are sure you want to do this, then go ahead. But if not, then we leave. The only thing I know is that no matter your decision, I will stand with you.”

“I just want you to live a life of no regrets”

This part she said in a quieter manner. I knew this one was eating her up. The request was too much. Which made me realize something.

I didn’t need her there because she is my best friend. I needed her there because I knew this would be hard for her as well.

Her brother got me into this mess. And now, she would always been the one who drove me to an abortion clinic to abort a baby.

It was wrong of me. But I couldn’t help but feel happy at the thought that one of them was suffering.

Was I a bad person?

Was I going to far?

Conflicting thoughts and emotions were starting to creep into my mind and I could help but release a loan tear.

“Number 42, you’re up”

Lila stood up and stretched her hand to me and calmly helped me up. She held onto my hand as I walked into the room. Even when I lay down on the bed and watched the doctor sterilized all his equipment, she still held onto my hand.

The doctor was about to inject the anaesthetic when the door was shoved open and the person who barged in yelled ‘Stop’.

I looked at the person causing the commotion and there he was.

Ethan Monroe. After two weeks of disappearance.

“Please stop”

He had tears in his eyes as he gazed at me pleadingly.

“Someone tell me what is going on here?”
