Chapter 69: A Divine Intervention
Enora stood in the clearing, her heart pounding with anticipation as she awaited the arrival of the mysterious figure she had sensed lurking in the shadows. The air was thick with tension, and the moon cast an ethereal glow over the forest, bathing everything in its soft, silver light.
And then, she appeared.
The Moon Goddess emerged from the darkness, her form radiant and majestic as she stepped into the clearing. Her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and her silver hair cascaded around her like a shimmering veil.
Enora gasped in awe, her breath catching in her throat as she beheld the divine being before her. She had heard tales of the Moon Goddess ever since she joined the pack, but she had never thought the Moon Goddess was real, let alone that she would come face to face with her.
“Enora.”, the Moon Goddess spoke, her voice like the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind. “I have been watching over you since the day you were born.”
Enora’s eyes widened in surprise, her mind reeling with the implications of the Goddess’ words. “You… you have?”
The Moon Goddess nodded, her expression solemn. “Yes, my child. I have seen the struggles you have faced, and I have witnessed your unwavering determination in the face of adversity.”
Enora’s heart swelled with emotion, a sense of gratitude washing over her as she realized the depth of the Goddess’ care for her. “Thank you.”, she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. “But why? Why have you been watching over me?”
The Moon Goddess’ gaze grew solemn, her eyes reflecting the weight of the centuries she had borne witness to. “The packs in this area have been without a wolf for far too long.”, she explained. “It is because of one man’s greed and selfishness.”
Enora’s mind raced as she processed the Goddess’ words. “You mean… Seth?”, she asked, her voice trembling with anger.
The Moon Goddess nodded, her expression grave. “Yes. Seth challenged your grandfather against my will. He only won because he joined forces with the humans who sought to destroy the werewolves completely. He betrayed our kind.”
Enora’s heart sank at her words, her mind swirling with a mix of anger and disbelief. “But… but why would he do such a thing?”, she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The Moon Goddess’ eyes flashed with righteous fury. “Because he is selfish and power-hungry.”, she replied. “He cares only for himself and his own ambitions, regardless of the cost to others. He never asked what his allies wanted out of the deal.”
Enora clenched her fists at her sides, her blood boiling with rage at the thought of Seth’s betrayal. “And because of him, the packs have suffered.”, she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
The Moon Goddess nodded solemnly. “Yes, I was so angry with him and all the other packs for not standing up to Seth that I took away their wolves. That way Seth could not do any harm, and the wolves wanting to get out, had an easier time hiding between the humans.”, she explained. “But I left a caveat. I mated the first female born in your grandfather’s family with the male of Seth’s family. Together they can set things right. And because of the magnitude of what needs to be set right, they were mated with a Beta and a Gamma.”
Enora’s eyes widened in shock, her mind racing with the implications of the Goddess’ words. “Wait… you mean… me?”
The Moon Goddess smiled gently, her eyes sparkling with pride. “Yes, Enora. You. You and Sebastian, with help from Adam and Lucas. You have been challenged and you have succeeded, without losing faith and love in your mates. And because of that, I have decided to grant you back your wolf.”
Enora’s heart soared with joy at the Goddess’ proclamation, her eyes shining with tears of gratitude. “Thank you.”, she whispered, her voice filled with awe. “But I don’t know how…”
The Moon Goddess reached out a hand and placed it gently on Enora’s shoulder. “Your wolf will help you.”, she grinned softly. But then she said more urgently. “You have brought back balance, compassion, and love to our kind. In order to keep it that way, all other werewolves over thirteen will not get their wolf back. But all the children and those not yet born will have a wolf, because they will know what it is to grow up in a world of love.”
Enora nodded, her mind racing with the possibilities of what this meant for the future of the packs. “I understand.”, she said, her voice filled with determination.
The Moon Goddess smiled, her eyes twinkling with pride. “Use your wolf to end this madness once and for all. Let our kind know love once again.”, she said, her voice echoing with power.
And with those words, she vanished into the night, leaving Enora alone in the clearing with a newfound sense of purpose burning in her heart. She knew what she had to do.
Enora’s unconscious form lay sprawled across the couch in Grace’s cabin, her breathing shallow and her face drawn in a troubled expression. Marcus and Grace hovered nearby, their eyes fixed on her motionless figure as they waited anxiously for any sign of improvement.
Suddenly, Enora began to squirm in her sleep-like state, her body twisting and turning with increasing agitation. Marcus’ eyes widened in alarm, his heart racing with concern as he rushed to her side. “Enora!”, he called out, his voice laced with worry. “Enora, can you hear me?”
Grace’s hands flew to her mouth, her eyes wide with fear as she watched Enora’s restless movements. “What’s happening to her, Marcus?”, she asked, her voice trembling with concern.
But Marcus had no answers. He could only watch helplessly as Enora’s condition seemed to worsen by the second. And then, he noticed something strange. Enora’s pulse was getting stronger with each passing moment, her heart beating with a steady rhythm that defied explanation. Marcus’ brow furrowed in confusion as he reached out to check her vitals once more, his fingers trembling with anticipation. “It’s… it’s impossible.”, he whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of Enora’s erratic breathing.
Grace’s eyes widened in alarm as she realized what Marcus was implying. “What do you mean, Marcus? What’s happening to her?”
But before Marcus could respond, Enora’s body suddenly went still, her breathing slowing to a calm and steady pace. And then, it happened.
Enora began to glow.
Marcus and Grace watched in awe as a soft, silvery light emanated from Enora’s skin, bathing the room in its ethereal glow. The air seemed to crackle with energy, and Marcus felt a surge of power coursing through him as he beheld the miraculous sight before him.
“It’s… it’s like she’s radiating.”, Grace gasped, her voice filled with wonder.
Marcus nodded in agreement, his mind racing with possibilities. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”, he admitted, his voice filled with awe. And then, as suddenly as it had begun, the glow faded, leaving Enora lying peacefully on the couch as if nothing had happened. Marcus and Grace exchanged a bewildered glance, their minds reeling with questions that had no answers.
“What… what just happened?”, Grace whispered, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the cabin.
“I don’t know.”, he admitted, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
