Ariana’s POV
Lucas quickly worked on picking the lock of her cell, his hands steady despite the urgency of the situation. After what felt like an eternity, the lock clicked open.
When Lucas swung open the heavy, creaking door to Seraphina's cell, I couldn't help but gasp. The sight that greeted me was shocking and heart-wrenching. There, before me, stood my once-beautiful sister, Seraphina, her face marred by a gruesome scar that cut across her forehead. The scar was a brutal reminder of the horrors she had endured at the hands of the Black Moon Clan.
My breath caught in my throat as I took in the transformation that had overtaken Seraphina. She had always been strong-willed and pride, but now she looked broken and defeated. Her eyes, once filled with light and laughter, were dull and haunted. It was as if the very essence of her being had been drained away.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I rushed forward, disregarding the danger of the situation. "Seraphina," I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion. "It's me, your sister."
She turned her head slowly, her gaze locking onto mine. Recognition flickered in her eyes, but it was quickly overshadowed by pain and regret. "Ariana," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can't believe you came."
I reached out to touch her, to reassure myself that she was real and not some terrible nightmare. My fingers brushed against her cold, scarred cheek, and I felt her shiver at my touch. "I had to come," I said, my voice filled with determination. "I couldn't leave you here."
Seraphina's eyes filled with tears as she stepped closer, her arms wrapping around me in a tight embrace. "I'm so sorry, Ariana," she sobbed. "I betrayed the Silver Moon Clan, our parents, and you. I was a fool to think I could find happiness with the Black Moon Clan."
I held her close, tears streaming down my own face. "You don't have to apologize, everything has passed." I whispered. "We'll find a way to make things right. I promise."
But even as I spoke those words, I couldn't help but feel the weight of the odds stacked against us. The Black Moon Clan was a powerful and ruthless enemy, and they had already taken so much from us.
Seraphina pulled away, her eyes searching mine with desperation. "Ariana," she said, her voice quivering, "I lost my wolf."
My heart ached at her words. In our world, a wolf was not just a companion; it was a part of one's soul. Losing a wolf was akin to losing a piece of oneself, and it was a fate that no werewolf ever wanted to face. "We'll get your wolf back,"
Tears welled up in Seraphina's eyes as she rushed into my arms, her body trembling with a mixture of relief and regret. She repeated it over and over again. "Ariana, I'm so sorry. I've betrayed our clan, our parents, for the Black Moon Clan. And I'm the one who hurt you the most, yet you still came looking for me."
I held her tightly, my own tears mingling with hers. "It doesn't matter, Seraphina. Mom and Dad are really worried about you. We're here to rescue you now. We'll find a way to make things right."
Seraphina's sobs echoed in the dimly lit cell as she clung to me, the weight of her guilt and pain almost unbearable. "I thought I could find my place here, but I was wrong. I regret everything."
I gently stroked her hair, trying to provide what little comfort I could. "We'll get through this together, Seraphina. You're not alone."
Just as I felt a glimmer of hope that we could escape together, a sudden commotion outside the cell interrupted our moment. My heart leaped into my throat as the sound of approaching footsteps and hushed voices grew louder.
"We have to go, now," Lucas said urgently, pulling me away from Seraphina and keeping me behind him as he assumed a protective stance.
I clutched Seraphina's hand, my heart racing with fear as the cell was suddenly flooded with guards from the Black Moon Clan. They were relentless in their pursuit, surrounding us with their imposing presence. But what sent a chill down my spine was the sight of the Alpha himself, shrouded in a mask, his aura radiating power and danger.
The atmosphere in the cell grew tense, thick with uncertainty and the palpable threat of violence. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the Alpha's masked face, wondering what kind of man—or monster—lurked behind that disguise.
The cell was surrounded by a menacing circle of Black Moon Clan werewolves, their eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and cruelty. In the center of this dark tableau, Lucas had instantly snapped into a defensive stance. He kept me behind him protectively, one hand gripping my arm as if to shield me from the impending danger. Seraphina clung to my other arm, her eyes wide with fear and desperation. The atmosphere inside the cell grew more tense by the second.
The leader of the Black Moon Clan, the Alpha, emerged from the shadows, his presence commanding the attention of everyone in the room. He wore a mask that concealed his identity, adding an aura of enigma to his already formidable presence. His voice dripped with mockery as he addressed Lucas.
"Well, well," the Alpha taunted, his voice carrying a cold edge. "What do we have here? A lone wolf daring to intrude upon the den of the Black Moon Clan? You must have a death wish."
Lucas's jaw clenched, his eyes locked on the Alpha. "I'm not here for idle chatter," he replied, his voice steady despite the tension in the air. "I'm here to free my luna’s sister and get the antidote for the wolf's venom."
The Alpha's lips curled into a cruel smile as he gestured toward Seraphina, who clung to me like a lifeline. "Ah, yes," he purred, his voice dripping with malice. "Seraphina, isn't it? I must say, she's quite the prize, wouldn't you agree?"
I tightened my grip on Seraphina, my protective instincts kicking into overdrive. The Alpha's words were meant to unsettle us, to make us doubt our resolve. But I refused to let fear paralyze me.
Lucas's eyes burned with defiance as he retorted, "You won't keep her here. We'll fight to the death if we have to."
The Black Moon Clan members surrounding us laughed mockingly, their voices echoing in the dimly lit cell. They ridiculed Lucas for his audacity, for daring to challenge them alone. But we had faced adversity before, and we were not about to back down now.
