Chapter sixteen : A Broken Trust

Ronan POV

I sat on the left side of the large dining table, opposite my mother; my father sat in the middle, acting like he owned everyone.

Lewis Blackthrone is a selfish, cold, and ruthless man who loves control and fear that he sometimes feeds on it,

Ever since I have known him, I haven't seen an affectionate bone in him, not even towards my mother.

It was as though he was made without the emotions part, or maybe he had just learned how to school the emotions.

My mother, Veronica Blackthrone, is just like him; she is only womanly, and he cares for making people fear him and ruling their lives; she cares for manipulating and plotting against them to do her bidding.

No wonder I had turned out the way I did; having parents like them could mess one up.

"What is it dear? Why haven't you touched your meal?" Veronica asked.

On a regular occasion, it seemed like she seemed to care for me, but I knew better; it was all an act to make me drop my walls so she'd crush me.

"I'd rather be in my bed than having this sorry excuse of a family dinner."

"Watch your words son, you don't get to speak to your mother that way."

"If you hate it, then you should let me go."

"And what's so special about going back to that academy?" Veronica snapped. "Are you proud of it? I mean you are supposed to be leading our packs now, I'm supposed to have had grandchildren from a female wolf, but I can't cause you killed our people." There is the mother I know.

Though on days like these, I wish my parents had been partakes of the tragedy that occurred.

Most especially my mother, who was now staring at me with disdain and hatred.

At least she's showing her true colors now.

The one where she loathes me.

"You know the guilt tripping is getting old and boring, and so is this dinner." I motion you to stand up,

"Who is Seraphina?" My father was the one asking now, and his question had altered any movements of mine.

"No one."

"That's not what my sources tells me, infact they tell me she's a freak, half human, half wolf. And that you have been really close to her."

Veronica's eyes widened at the confession,

"Another mutant! Seriously? When will it end? Till we are both dead?"

I curled my fists to stop myself from actually murdering my parents; not a good thought, but I swear they bring out the worst in me.

"She is not a mutant." I said with a calm that I don't feel."

"You said the same thing about kyros, and because of that I lost my children, your siblings!"

Sometimes, I think she forgets that I'm also her son and that I also lost my siblings.

Meaning I also felt the pain, maybe even worse than they did.

"Stay away from her, whatever camaraderie you are plotting, stop it." My father ordered in a no-nonsense tone.

I curled my fists harder.

"You guys don't get to tell me what to do, especially when it comes to her, and if you try any stupid plots of hurting her, then I shall add you to the list of deceased family members."

And with that, I storm off in a fit of anger.

But I could hear their tiny exchanges as I walked out.

"I swear Lewis I try, I try for our family sake to forgive him, to think of him as my son, but each time I look at him, I hate that my babies aren't here and that he is." Veronica confessed as she cried.

It would have stung if I hadn't heard the statement a zillion times.

Lewis being an unfeeling dick, didn't even get up to console his wife.

"He'll be dealt with." That's all he said to her.

Sometimes, my parents are not fit to be together.

I didn't bother running back to the academy in my wolf form. Instead, I drove back into my car,

On getting to the academy, I went straight to look for Sera. It's been a whole day without her, and I have missed her so much,

I missed how she always snuffed out the darkness whenever I was near her.

And I know if I see her, I will be put in a better mood than the one I left my parent's house in,

My mind drifted to my parents and their mention of my siblings, Teal and Cole,

And my chest tightened,

I can still hear their screams, I can still feel their blood, the look in their eyes as the life left their bodies,

As I stood there and caused it.

I hadn't told Sera the whole part of the story, majorly cause I didn't want her to hate me like everyone did,

I loved how she looked at me like I was a hero,

Like I could make the world better, maybe it messed up on my part,

But I love how her eyes light up when she sees me like I'm the only one in view.

I now stood at the door of her room; I knocked on the door but got no response,

I assumed she was asleep, and so I barged inside,

However, she wasn't on her bed, in the bathroom, or in the closet; she wasn't in the room,

This was past bedtime, so she wouldn't be roaming the halls.

Is she safe?

I went outside the room, about to start another berserk search for her when I stopped.

She stood outside with Lena; her face looked haunted, as though she wasn't there.

And when she noticed my presence, her eyes darkened, and her lips trembled, meaning she'd been crying.

I rushed to her.

"Flower are you…"

She moved away from me.

My chest tightened even more.

"Flower?"

"Don't call me that." She snapped. I told Lena goodnight and went back to her room. What had happened?

I leave her for one day, and this??

"What did you do to her?"

"I believe the question is, what did you do to her?" I scrunched my brows before turning to enter Sera's room.

Thankfully, she didn't lock the door. Instead, she was now seated on the bed, her legs bunched up and her face down,

Staring blankly.

"Sera?" I called softly, sitting next to her,

I tried touching her,

But she shifted away from me.

Causing my anger to rise. She may be mad at me, but she doesn't get to push me away.

"Look at me."

No response.

"Seraphina fucking look at me before I make you."

This caused her to turn her head and hit her eyes to meet mine,

And the hurt in them slammed me deep.

"Why didn't you tell me the truth."

"What truth?"

"Don't play dumb with me, you lied to me."

"I didnt, I don't tell lies."

"An omission is still a lie!"

"What the juts are you yammering about?"

"Kyros wasn't the only one who killed them, you also participated in it."

"Who told you these?"

"Why? Do you want to unleash your fury on them too?"

My jaw ticked. I wouldn't say I liked the accusations in her tone.

I hated how she wasn't looking at me with those sparkles in her eyes.

She was looking at me like everyone does.

"Do you go on believing everything everyone tells you about me?"

"I didnt before! But now I'm beginning to think I'm a fool, you know if you had come clean on everything, instead of letting me find out from others. I wouldn't judge you, I wouldn't hate you."

Something snapped inside me.

She had never uttered those words. Even when I forced her to the cottage or didn't do as she wanted.

"Get some rest." I stood to leave.

"You are shutting me out? Seriously? With No explanation?"

That's it.

I turned and pushed her so she was lying on the bed, my hands caging her on each side.

I breathed harshly over her, inhaling her sweet flower scent, which always calmed me. And it was now making me snap.

"You want explanations? Fine. I did it, I caused it all, I'm a monster, what will you do about it? Fight me?"

Her eyes glistened with tears.

"Let me go." She said too calmly.

"Get one thing flower, I will never ever let you go, ever!"

We remained with our eyes locked on each other. Her lips had parted, and her eyes had widened with fear and desire. And I loved it.

"Why? Why didn't you tell me?" Her voice was a whisper, and her eyes kept flickering to my lips as though expecting me to ravish them,

And oh, how I want to ravish them.

I have wanted to for the past few days but didn't want to break or scare her.

Well, I'm done being nice.

It seemed I was being too gentle, and my flower didn't respond to gentleness.

She responds well to force and pain.

"You lost the chance to know why."
