Chapter fifteen : The Legend’s Return

Seraphina POV

My hands were stretched to the door, and I was shivering from the sight I saw in front of me; a man with stubble and a malicious grin was staring right at me,

He had blood all over his tattered shirt, over his face, and even the colour of his eyes was a mixture of blood and yellow,

"He…he.."

"Sera darling, are you okay?" Ciaran asked,

"Can't you see him standing there!"

They both turned to where I pointed,

"No flower, who are you seeing?" Ronan asked. Worry filled in his voice.

"They can't see me darling, I'm kyros by the way, the deadly legend."

Kyros. Ronan's friend and the betrayal.

"Why are you here?" I tried not to make my voice shaky, but I failed miserably.

"Oh we are connected. You and I. But on a more detailed level, let's just say I'm here cause you are my ticket to redemption."

"What? We can't be connected, you're a murderer."

"That I am darling, but you can never deny the connection, try all you want, but you and me are like two sides of a coin, we are incomplete without each other."

I swallowed hard.

"How is that possible?"

"You'll know in due time, until then, stay alive, I wouldn't exist if you are dead."

And just like that, he poofs off,

Ciaran and Ronan's voices became more audible to me after he went; it was as though his presence had downed out the world.

I finally turned to look at them, worry etched on both their faces.

"You had me scared flower, what happened?"

"I…."

"What did you see?" Ciaran asked.

I didn't know if it was wise to tell them; I didn't understand what Kyros deal was, but involving them would be like risking their lives, and I couldn't have that.

"It's nothing."

"It's not nothing, you dazed out and we're mumbling werid languages, and you had the fearful look in your eyes." Ciaran persisted.

"It's nothing, just a bad dream, it happens sometimes."

Ronan had kept quiet all this time, scrutinizing me intensely as he could see right through me.

The next few days had been filled with Ronan and Ciaran permanently fixed by my side; they had both taken it upon themselves to become my personal caretakers.

As usual, Ronan hadn't appreciated Ciaran's involvement with me, but Ciaran had been smart enough to stay away from me whenever Ronan was around.

And that's like every time; I only got to be alone with Ciaran on a few occasions.

Not that I was complaining; being with Ciaran was peaceful and calm, but it never held the depths as being with Ronan did,

Whenever I am with him, I tend to forget everything, my crazy visions, my fears, everything expels, and all that is left is safety, satisfaction and deep peace like never before.

It was as though a part of me was being completed by Ronan's presence.

This is the ironic cause; in the usual sense, Ciaran is what I should have done for myself. He is caring, not that Ronan isn't, but he is more caring and kind, respects me, and always wants to treat me right.

Whereas Ronan is just complete chaos, he is arrogant to a fault, he is dark, he is very controlling, intense but real.

Very real.

That's what drew me in; the demons of Ronan felt more accurate than the angels of Ciaran.

I must be crazy.

This must be why I am snuggling into Ronan's arm and breathing his spicy scent.

He was in my room and on my bed, cuddling with me.

Who knew Ronan blackthrone could actually cuddle.

But his cuddles are the best, but not better than his kisses and slight touches.

I blushed hard, thankful I was hiding my face under the crook of his neck.

Ronan hadn't made any move to touch me like he did in the cottage, but each time he gave me kisses on the cheeks and touched me slightly,

I could feel the heat pool around my legs.

I felt embarrassed for being this turned on over little touches.

But I also felt frustrated that he didn't make a move to do more.

Did I mention the consistent dent in his trousers that I always felt tempted to touch?

It was obvious he wanted me, so why wasn't he making any move?

His warmth seeped into me as his arm tightened around my waist.

"You awake?"

"Mmm mm."

"Would you like to go to the academy ball?"

This caused me to crane my neck.

"You want to go?"

"No. But it would be distracting and fun, and you need fun."

"I need to not see the students. They hate me remember?"

"So? To hell with them, besides You've been getting distracted in your head, you need this."

Did he see the signs? Is he aware that Kyros comes to my dreams every night?

I made sure that he never stayed the night so he doesn't find out.

"I haven't been distracted."

"You refuse to talk about what happened at the infirmary, you zone out every time we are talking, and you always shudder in fear whenever you walk alone, like someone would pounce on you and end you."

Wow!

How long had he been studying me to gather that information?

"Still. It doesn't matter."

"Seraphina." It was a warning.

"Please. Can we just remain and forget, I'll go to the ball with you, but nothing about the woods."

He gave me his scrutinized gaze. "Fine."

After that, he didn't bring up the issues, Though I could tell it pissed him off to not know,

I stood in the garden now, Ronan wasn't around cause he had to go see his parents,

Days like these felt hard cause I was using Ronan to forget the looming truths.

And so on those days, I come into the garden and talk to the flowers; in my head, it was a way of talking to Grandma,

"Hey granny, I'm sure you must be happy to have gotten rid of me, well I'm still quite pissed at you."

Silence

"I'm also scared, and confused, above all I don't know who to tell about what kyros said, I don't know who to trust."

Silence again.

Well, until I heard the rustling of the door; Ciaran came in,

"Hey cupcake, I knew I'd find you here." He says as he came to stand beside me.

I forced a smile but said nothing in return.

"How have you been?"

"Good. For the most parts."

"Wanna talk about it?"

"No."

"Does it have something to do with the person you saw in the infirmary?"

My throat clogged.

"There was no one there, and I told you I don't wanna talk about it." I snapped.

"Whooo, easy there cupcake. I won't bug anymore."

We stayed in silent.

For about two minutes before he broke it, I swear Ciaran can never be quiet, even for the love of the goddess.

"So seeing as you are here, Ronan must be off."

"Yes."

"To his parents right?"

"Yes." I paused. "Wait how did you know?"

"Cause I sent him there." A considerable smirk appeared on his face. "It's time he left me to my woman."

What is it with these boys trying to own me!

And why didn't I feel flutters like I did with Ronan? Why did he become possessive?

"Look. I don't feel any romantic notions for you, I very much love our friendship the way it is, and I wish you would too."

His jaw ticked.

"And Ronan? Do you feel that way with him?"

"This isn't about Ronan."

"Of course it is, but trust me cupcake, you wouldn't care for him if you knew who he really is."

"Again with those rumors, I thought they are beneath you."

"I don't speak rumors, Ronan is a vile monster, he killed his pack."

"No he didn't. Kyros did. You know what I'm done being here, I came to find peace but you've managed to ruin it." I turned to leave.

"You don't know the full story sera, why do you think he is cursed? Why do you think he is feared?"

This had me stopping.

"He told you the half story, and I have proof of the truth, proof that proves that he is not to be trusted."

I didn't know if he was telling the truth or not, but I trusted Ronan, and I knew there must be a reason why the gods punished him,

And that none of them revolved around Ronan being a monster,

He couldn't be a monster and touch me with so much tenderness; he couldn't be a monster and have sadness in his eyes as he told his story.

"Your jealousy is unflattering."

And with that, I stormed out of there.

On my way there, I caught a glance at a face that should only exist when I fell asleep.

Kyros.

He had hidden at the edge of the hallways.

On getting to the edge, I realized no one was there.

I was about to turn back and accept that my mind was playing games on me,

But I saw him, and I damn well knew it wasn't a mind game,

I followed him till I was out of the academy,

It felt as though he was trying to lure me out.

Worse, I lost track of him immediately when I stepped outside.

"Seraphina." The familiar voice called, causing me to shriek.
