Chapter 39 Werewolf visitor
Chapter 39 Werewolf visitor
\-Third-person point of view-
\-In the Red Sun clan -
Mikael Moore stood by the window of his office, his gaze fixed on the darkness that blanketed his territory. Night had always ruled his kind. It was the only time vampires could move freely, hunt, and feed.
They loathed the curse placed upon them. To be bound to the night felt like an injustice carved by the gods themselves. Werewolves, on the other hand, were free. They roamed beneath the sun without consequence, untouched by the same restrictions.
The thought irritated him.
He wondered, not for the first time, if there was a way to shatter that curse and grant vampires the ability to walk in daylight. To stand under the sun as equals.
He intended to find a way. No matter the cost.
A faint sneer curved his lips as he nodded to himself, already plotting his next steps.
With Amelia gone, there was nothing left to fear. No future to dread. He was finally free.
The creak of his office door pulled him from his thoughts. He turned to see Leon Brass stepping inside and approaching his desk.
“You’re back,” Mikael said coolly. “How many humans did you secure?”
“Fifteen,” Leon replied. “That should be enough for the day. However, there is an unexpected guest requesting an audience with you.”
Mikael’s expression darkened as a strange scent reached his senses. “An Alpha werewolf inside my territory?” he said slowly. “Who would dare?”
“It’s Alpha Roland Riddle of the Blue Moon Pack,” Leon answered. “He insists on seeing you, Master.”
Mikael lifted an eyebrow, intrigue flickering across his face. The situation amused him more than it concerned him. He returned to his chair and sat down with an air of superiority.
“Very well,” he said at last. “Let him in.”
Leon bowed his head in acknowledgment before turning and leaving the office.
Not long after, Roland Riddle entered the room. The middle-aged Alpha wore his usual, confident smile, the one he was known for throughout the territories.
His eyes swept across the space with open interest. “Impressive, Mikael,” he remarked. “Your residence carries a rather… oppressive atmosphere.”
Mikael responded with a sneer. “What brings you here, Roland Riddle, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack?” he asked coolly. “I find it hard to believe we have any business to conduct.”
“Oh, but we do,” Roland said, lowering himself into the chair across from him. “In fact, we have quite a lot to talk about.”
“Do we?” Mikael replied, his curiosity stirred. “Very well. Speak. I’m listening.”
Roland inclined his head and went straight to the point. “I hear you’ve been searching for your daughter, Amelia Moore. Is that correct?”
Mikael lifted an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by the sudden topic. “You’re not entirely wrong,” he admitted. “However, her death has already been confirmed.”
“Death?” Roland echoed carefully. “And how, exactly, was that confirmed?”
Mikael let out a low chuckle. “We assumed she crossed into Alpha Draven’s territory. We searched every pack and every clan, and found nothing. You know how Alpha Draven feels about vampires. He would have killed her without hesitation.” He shook his head and feigned sorrow. “I mourn her deeply. I never imagined my own daughter would meet her end at the hands of that insufferable Alpha.”
Roland shook his head slowly, a knowing smirk tugging at his lips. “Ah, but Mikael, your daughter is very much alive.”
Mikael stiffened. “What are you talking about?” he demanded.
“She did enter Alpha Draven’s territory,” Roland continued calmly. “But he spared her. She appears to be the only vampire he has ever shown mercy to.”
A flicker of unease crossed Mikael’s face. “Mercy?” he repeated. “Why would he spare her?”
Roland shrugged lightly. “It’s quite simple, Mikael. She turned out to be his mate.”
Mikael slammed his hand against the desk, eyes wide with disbelief. “What?!” he roared. “They’re mates?!”
Roland remained calm despite Mikael’s explosive reaction. “Yes,” he said evenly. “They are mates. Alpha Lucien has finally found his destined partner, and it turns out to be your hidden daughter. Quite remarkable, wouldn’t you agree?”
Mikael lowered his head, his thoughts spiraling as he tried to process the revelation. His daughter was alive. Not only that, she had found a mate. She had always been different, but this revelation pushed everything beyond what he could have imagined.
The situation was growing dangerous, and he could not afford to remain stunned for long.
He shook his head slowly, resolve hardening within him. No. I cannot allow this. I must retrieve my daughter, and this time, I will eliminate her for good.
“So tell me, Mikael,” Roland continued thoughtfully. “How do you plan to use this information? It certainly raises questions about Alpha Draven’s nature, does it not? He is notorious for his hatred of vampires, yet he has accepted one as his mate. It is… curious.”
Mikael lifted his gaze, still seeking clarity. “Where did this information come from?” he asked. “Can it be trusted? Has Alpha Draven truly acknowledged her as his mate?”
Roland nodded. “You can trust it completely. If you still have doubts, pay them a visit and see for yourself. I even question whether she is truly safe there.”
With that, he rose from his chair.
Mikael watched him, frowning. “You are leaving already? Did you come here solely to deliver this news in person?”
“Yes,” Roland replied with a slight nod. “It was important that you heard it directly from me. Now, I must be on my way. Do not delay in acting on this.”
Roland turned and walked out, a sly grin playing on his face.
