Alyssa's POV
In the evening after we have had dinner. The servant came in to inform us that her mistress was ready to see us. She led the way and we followed her into the main building.
She was wearing a simpler plain white long dress. We too had changed into something simpler. She was sitting on the same chair she sat on in the afternoon and we also occupied the chair we sat on during the day.
She was still wearing that radiant smile of hers and I wondered if she does this with everyone that came seeking her help.
She welcomed us back. "Alyssa, how are you processing the knowledge of your true identity?
She asked and I simply nodded.
Now let us talk about the actual reason why you have come here. Tell me about your dream.
"I narrated the dream to her. Making sure I didn't omit any detail. When I was done narrating my dream, she sighed.
"What lays ahead is grave. Enemies will come from within and without but what you should be worried about are the enemies that will come from within.
They are the backstabbers. The ones you will not see coming until it is too late.
Alyssa, the time is coming and you have to prepare.
I have heard this before. In my dreams and even from the seer. But I still didn't understand what they mean.
What was coming? How grave is it? And how do I prepare? These are the questions I kept asking myself.
The blood rain signifies death and sorrow, and the walking away of Marcus signifies an external force that will seek to separate you.
Marcus loves you beyond your imagination. The moon goddess chose him for a reason. He will play a lot of significant roles in your life.
The world's equilibrium has been distorted. It is for this equilibrium that we have lived in peace over the centuries.
Now that it has been distorted, it is only a matter of time before chaos is unleashed upon the world. Unless the equilibrium can be restored before it is too late.
That is where you come in. You have been chosen by the council of gods to restore that equilibrium." she explained.
Me?" I asked shocked at this revelation
I couldn't believe my ears.
"You will play a major role in the restoration of this balance but to do that you will need your powers and you will need allies.
True friends who will be willing to stand by you no matter what. But you must be aware for among these friends enemies will be born.
It will not be easy Alyssa but you will get there.
You are the strongest person in the world. Your powers are buried deep down in your inner self. This is to save your fragile body from self-destruction.
Your body needs to be trained to accept these powers. It takes a long process but we don't have time so I hope your body will be able to accept your power soon enough."
I was getting scared. The more she explained the more I felt a heavy load lifted on my shoulder. This has to be a mistake. I don't want any of this. All I have ever wanted was a quiet and peaceful life amongst plants.
"What if I don't want any of these? Please help me make all of these go away. I don't need those powers and I want to be the chosen one.
Can you tell the council of gods that I don't want to be the one to save the world? Please tell them now" I panicked.
Helen stared at me as I panicked, her expression was calm. I noticed she is patient.
I wondered if it is her nature or a part of her job description. Whichever one it is, it's suits her personality.
As I panicked Ethan who has been sitting beside me all these while held me to his body. He tried to console me.
"I will excuse you for a while," Helen said and walked out of the room.
Ethan tried to console me.
The moon gods are wise and powerful. If they chose you it is because they know you are the one who can do it. You have been chosen to do a righteous deed. I believe some people would kill to be given this privilege.
"Alyssa look at me." I sat up facing him. He had a serious expression on his face.
"I am not happy that you have been saddled with such a heavy responsibility but I want to assure you that I shall throughout side throughout every step you take.
It doesn't matter how long it will take, as long as I breathe you will see me each time you look beside you. "
His words touched the core of my soul and I felt hope spark in me. I felt my fear turn to courage and the zeal to fulfill my task came alive.
I knew instantly that I will need Ethan throughout this journey if I was going to succeed.
I have been friends with Ethan since we were teenagers but the way he understands me so well still baffles me. Sometimes, I think he knows me better than myself.
There and then I promised to get a hold of myself. I wasn't going to let fear define me. If this is my contribution to the world then so be it.
"Good girl," Ethan said wiping off my tears. Just Helen came in.
"You will stay here for some time. Maybe a month. There are things I need to show you and also prepare you for." She said without even bothering to know what I have decided.
I knew this woman can read minds. How else is she able to know what is going on in my mind most of the time?
Helen looked at me and smiled as if amused by my thoughts and this even convinced me further that she could read minds.
Only I don't understand why she was hiding it from us.
"You need to get some rest now," Helen said. " tomorrow is going to be a tough day."
We walked back to our rooms. Ethan bade me good night and went to his room.
As I lay on my bed I couldn't help but think about the things Helen said. I couldn't sleep.
I know the coming days were going to be tough and scary and the thought of that sent a shiver down my spine.
I also thought about Marcus. I miss him a lot. Somehow I wish he was here yet I know his presence will make Ethan uncomfortable.
It didn't sit well with me that my two favorite people are not comfortable with each other. Although they have never really said that, their actions whenever they are in the same place exclaimed it all.
I saw that gesture from Ethan as brotherly love. He was looking out for me just like every brother does for their kid sisters and I appreciated it.
One day he will learn to accept Marcus whom I was confident of.
