Chapter thirty-five

Ethan's POV

I finally came face to face with Thomas. He snarled as he prepared to pounce on me. For several minutes, we continued to punch, kick and dodge each other's strikes.

He was strong but I was determined to end him. He was doing all he could to pin me to the ground but understood his motive and was taking extra care not to let him.

I took note of his every move giving me the chance to swerve when he tried to strike. He was having a hard down pinning me to the ground and I could see that this was pissing him off.

Suddenly, he transformed into a Massive black werewolf. I know this species. He is a descendant of the Mighty Duncan. The mighty Duncan is a god of power and might.

I read it in a mythology book last year. All the descendants of Mighty Duncan are blessed with the gift of extraordinary

Strength. They are some kind of primordial werewolves with the strength of two or three werewolves put together.

Now I understood why he is so strong but this knowledge of his strength will not make me back down. I can't back down even if I want to. The battle line has already been drawn and it is clear that it's either we or they.

I growled and transformed into a werewolf. We fought for several minutes. The fight was fierce. We continued to strike at each other cutting into each other's flesh with our claws and teeth.

But he had the upper hand. He was too strong for me. My entire body was sore from the deep cuts of his claw but I had the intention of dying here.

Meanwhile, more bodies kept on dropping dead. Two out of every three of the bodies were our pack members.

We were losing the fight but so far we have been able to stop them from getting to our women and children. The women had been successfully exited.

Thomas and his men were putting more pressure. They were doing all they could to stop them from leaving but we stood our ground.

This is one thing I am proud of my pack for. The way we stand in unity in the face of adversity. This gives us a sense of purpose. Makes us understand that what we are fighting for is worth it.

Even though they seemed to be winning we stood our ground. We were all ready to die if that was what it will take to protect our loved ones.

Thomas suddenly struck a defending blow to my ears and I lost stamina and fell to the ground. He took advantage of that and pounced on me sinking his teeth into my shoulder.

I let out a loud howl. I tried to claw his face but he held my hand. Blood was oozing out of my shoulder. I struggled under him trying to free myself from his grip but he held me back resting most of his weight on me.

I was still thinking of a way to free myself from his grip when George pounced on him. Both of them rolled on the ground.

Thomas was not just strong but also agile like a wild cat. As soon as they were on their feet, George struck a blow to his face but he swerved. With one blow he sent George crashing to the ground. I was shocked at his might and I am sure George was too.

He rushed towards him and held Getoge by the neck trying to choke him out. Seeing this, I rushed to help Geroge but I realize I was too weak. The wound was deep and painful. But I still managed to run towards them. I needed to free Geroge from his grip else George will be dead in a few minutes. As I was running towards them. I saw a tree branch on the ground and an idea struck me. I picked up the stick and with every bit of strength left in me I hit him on the head. He came crashing down like a tree struck down by lightning.

I pounced on him and held his throat. It was my turn to choke him out but I realized he was unconscious. George's face was a mess. There were bruises and cuts everywhere on his face.

Seeing how Thomas was lying on the ground. His men became angry. They charged at us howling angrily. I had hoped that they will retire after seeing their leader defeated but I was wrong.

It's as if their energy has been renewed. The problem now was that our men are tired. Our number has greatly reduced.

Killing Thomas seemed to have added salt to injury. looked at our tired-looking men and Thomas's gang members. One look and I already knew we are not going to make it.

As I readied myself for what was to come we suddenly heard snarls and growls behind us. We saw a pack of black wolves running toward us.

They had all transformed into here werewolf state. I was confused at first not sure of what their motive was.

But we were ready to defend ourselves. On getting here, the werewolves started attacking our rivals. I realized they were a friendly pack.

This gesture gave us renewed hope and a new form of energy. We started attacking them from every angle. Fighting with all our might determined to win this fight.

The table seem to have turned and to my delight, we found ourselves on the winning side as Thomas's men were being battered.

With this joined force, we outnumbered them about four to one which was what gave us the upper hand.

After like ten minutes, Thomas had lost quite a number of his men. Seeing that the tide had turned against them, they finally retreated. Taking Thomas along with them. We cheered happily seeing them their dear lives.

It made me realize even more the importance of standing together which has been the hallmark of the Blood Brothers pack right from time.

We thanked the pack for coming to our rescue. George being the alpha of our pack thanked all of them on our behalf.

We learned that their pack is called the Blue Sky pack. Their alpha died in the village after the fight broke out shifting the alpha's responsibility to his eldest son Louis who was the one narrating the story.

Before the wrestling competition, Louis and George met coincidentally at the local bar on the night they arrived.

They both chatted like regular youths not revealing their true status. They got along so well that they became friends. They later found out about their status at the wrestling arena. Louis was the first to realize that George was an alpha. They seemed to share a lot in common which made it easy for them to get along so well.

What mattered right now though was that they came to our aid at a time we needed it the most. This to me is the most romantic gesture that could come from a true friend.

I looked around the piles of bodies more of whom were our brothers. The bodies were scattered all over the place. Many had already transformed into wolves indicating that they had been dead for a while.

We wanted to bring our dead brothers back to our pack for a proper burial but time was of the essence. We needed to get out of this village before they returned with reinforcement.
