Marcus POV
It's been five weeks since my friends and I were attacked. I have not fully recovered but my condition has improved tremendously. I was now back home.
It's been a while since I heard from Alyssa. I don't know how she is or what she is up to. I miss her every day and I can't just wait to set my eyes on her again even though I know she is still angry at me.
She made it clear that she doesn't want me but I was willing to try. My heart yearns for her every day and this feeling is becoming unbearable. I wanted to recover fully before I visit her but I just can't take it anymore. I will go and see her tomorrow.
The following day came and I set out to visit her. I wanted to go alone but Nicole insisted that I go with escorts.
"Someone is clearly after your life. Aren't you worried about getting attacked again?" he asked.
He has a point but I wanted the visit to be a secret for two reasons. The first reason was my father and the second reason was Marietta. I know her to be a vicious woman, who knows what she might do to Alyssa if she finds out I had been to see her?
But in all of this, I didn't have much of a choice. I had to put the safety of my life into consideration. It was either I go with escorts as suggested by Nicole or decline my visit. I'll rather go with the former.
I would have asked Nicole and Tyler to come with me since Steve was away at the moment but the annual inter-pack wrestling competition was fast approaching and they were busy training for it.
It's been a while since our pack got to the final stage of the competition so last year, Nicole and Tyler promised to bring the trophy home this year.
They made the promise publicly during a meeting at our village clearing. Everyone is looking up to them to bring home the trophy this year which explains why they have been so hard on themselves these past few months.
They trained from morning till night and only stop to eat or catch a breath. I am not a fan of wrestling but it would be nice to see them bring the trophy home.
We all can't wait to see them win but right now I was more interested in setting my eyes on Alyssa. I was at a loss about who to ask to escort me. It had to be someone I could trust.
I thought long and hard before I finally decided to ask two of my brothers.
I wasn't sure they would not tell Father but they were among the few of my pack members who have no qualms with me mating with Alyssa. They didn't like Marietta although I don't know the reason and I never cared to ask. I pleaded with them to keep it between us and they gave me their words.
When we arrived at Alyssa's pack, I was told Alyssa was not there. I found out she has not been there since I rejected her publicly.
She didn't have many friends so it was easy for me to guess where she could be. She should be at Ethans'.
I felt jealousy creep into me. I know I had no right to feel jealous yet I couldn't help it. I felt disappointed and emotionally depressed.
I couldn't go back at this moment without seeing Alyssa. I decided to go to Ethan's pack to check if I could find her there. I was almost certain I would find her there and I was right.
When we arrived at Ethan's pack. The first person we met directed us to an isolated place away from the village. It looked like a forest garden and just above it was a stream. The place looked beautiful and I was not surprised to find her there. It looked like a place she would be.
Alyssa was a woman who was in love with plants. She love to sit amid plants, caressing and talking to them like they were her family. She is not a socialite but when it comes to the topic of plants she could go on and on. I noticed that from the first day we met. I was impressed at her love for nature. The way she appreciated their nature and the way they cohabit with us. It made me realize how complex yet beautiful this world is.
As I made my way toward this forest garden, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building up inside me.
I wondered how she would react when she sees me. She used to love me and would be elated to see me but that was before I rejected her before everyone. Now I was not sure of what to expect but I do hope she still feels something for me.
As I stepped through the entrance, I was immediately struck by the sheer beauty of the place. The trees towered above me, their branches casting dappled shadows on the ground. The air was thick with the sweet scent of flowers, and the sound of birdsong filled my ears.
But as stunning as the forest garden was, it was nothing compared to the sight of Alyssa sitting there, lost in thought. She looked so peaceful, so content, as though she was completely at one with nature. Her hair was tousled by the breeze, and the sunlight danced on her skin, casting her in a warm, golden glow. I couldn't help but stare at her, caught up in the moment.
"Wow," I breathed, stepping closer. "You look absolutely beautiful here, Alyssa. Like you belong in this forest garden, surrounded by all this natural beauty."
"What are you doing here? " she asked surprised by my presence. Her face was emotionless, making it difficult to decide whether she was pleased to see me or not.
"I am so sorry Alyssa did I frighten you? " I asked worried that I might upset her. I tried to move closer to her but she signaled to me to stop.
"I asked what you are doing here".
"I came to see you Alyssa. I miss you so much. My heart couldn't bear it anymore. " I said sincerely.
She looked at me her face still emotionless. "You rejected me for another woman in front of the whole pack. Do you know how badly that hurt me?" she growled.
Now you come back to tell me it is me you love? Why should I believe anything you say? I cannot let my heart get shattered twice. If this is what you have come for then you have wasted your time.".
She tried to walk out on me but I held her back. "Alyssa, please. I have learned my lesson. I have already told Marietta I can't be with her. I was manipulated by my father and I regret it every day. Give me the chance to make this right please." I went on my knee and begged.
"I looked into her eyes and I could see that she still love me. She was about to say something when Ethan appeared.
She ran towards him and hugged him. My heart sank. Please ask them to leave." she said sobbing softly as she bury her face into his chest.
I felt anger rush through me. I felt like no one had the right to hold her like that except me.
"I would have to ask you to leave," Ethan said. He said it calmly but I could see that he was irritated.
I was also losing it. I didn't want to do anything stupid especially now that my chances of winning her back were wearing slim. I stood up reluctantly.
"Alyssa! I love you and will always do. Don't forget that you are the one chosen for me by the moon goddess. I will not give up on you." I said and left feeling both angry and pathetic.
This is going to be tougher than I thought but I was willing to do whatever it takes.
