Chapter 294 Cut Off All Her Thoughts
Chapter 294 Cut Off All Her Thoughts
Alexander's stocks and assets were worth an astronomical amount.
Now he was actually planning to give these assets to Grace? Had he completely lost his mind?
Alexander said, "That's my final decision."
He didn't care what had driven Emily to this point, but his stance was equally resolute. Whether Emily gave birth or not, if she insisted on bringing these two children into the world, he wouldn't leave her offspring a single penny of his fortune!
This was what he meant by bearing the consequences!
After speaking, Alexander yanked his hand free from William's grip and strode toward the exit.
William chased after him a few steps, but Mary finally seemed to snap back to reality, shouting hysterically, "He's lost his mind! Has someone put a spell on him? How can he be so irrational, wanting to give his fortune to Grace?"
Samantha's anxiety spiked as well. "Is he serious? His portfolio of stocks and liquid assets worth trillions—he's just going to rashly hand it all over to Grace?"
William said grimly, "He means business. He never makes empty threats. Whatever comes out of his mouth, he follows through on."
He was genuinely panicking now.
What Alexander called "dividing the family assets" meant transferring all his wealth to Grace and their two children ahead of time. He was making it crystal clear to everyone that Emily's children, if born, wouldn't see a penny of his fortune!
Emily had been lying in her room upstairs when she heard the sound of a sports car engine outside her window. She walked to the bed and watched Alexander drive away, then immediately rushed downstairs.
Downstairs, Mary and William were in heated argument. "You need to stop him! What if he actually gives his fortune to Grace?"
Emily descended the stairs and approached Mary, supporting her arm. "Grandmother, what's going on? Was Alexander just here? Did you all fight because of me?"
Mary was seething with frustration. "You're asking? He just threatened to split from the family because of your situation!"
Emily's face went white. "That's impossible!"
Split from the family?
Split what exactly?
Weren't all the Hayes family assets in Alexander's hands anyway?
That was precisely why she was enduring this pressure to have the children—once these two babies were born, she could turn her fortunes around completely.
She had fantasized countless times about Alexander holding her sons, unable to put them down, giving her the chance to win him back from Grace!
Her entire future was riding on these two children!
But now Alexander was talking about splitting the family? What did that mean?
Mary said irritably, "Who knows what's gotten into him? He said he wants to give Grace half of his fortune!"
Emily's expression changed drastically. "What?"
Samantha added from the side, "Don't you understand? Alexander is afraid your children will compete with Grace's two sons for the inheritance, so he's planning to transfer the assets to those two boys ahead of time! Even if your children are born, it'll be pointless. By then, all the wealth will have been legally transferred. Your children won't get a dime of support from him! He simply refuses to acknowledge the children you're carrying!"
She could see that Emily's risky gambit was nothing more than an attempt to use children to secure her position. Alexander was cutting off all her hopes at the root!
Emily's face grew increasingly ashen. "That's impossible... He has so many assets. Even if he wanted to divide them, it couldn't be completed in just a month or two! He's just speaking in anger."
Mary said, "Let's hope so!"
Samantha asked William, "William, exactly how much wealth does Alexander have?"
William replied, "Setting aside real estate and cash flow, his bonds, options, securities, and savings combined are worth at least several hundred billion. That's not even counting his vehicles and stock holdings. Currently, Crest Corporation's shares are at historic highs, making it difficult to calculate precisely, but it's definitely more than I can imagine."
Those luxury cars were pocket change and weren't even included in the calculation.
But Crest Corporation's equity was beyond measure.
If he truly divided his assets, including Crest Corporation's shares in the split, the value would be incalculable.
Hundreds of billions!
Good God...
Emily felt her heart contract.
She had assumed Alexander would force her to go to the hospital for surgery to terminate the pregnancy. That's why she had asked Mary for help, relying on Mary's protection. She never expected Alexander to take this route!
Dividing the assets!
---
Noon.
Grace grabbed lunch from the cafeteria and found a seat.
Anna sat at the same table with her.
Looking at Grace, Anna noticed she seemed exhausted and asked with concern, "Grace, what's wrong?"
Grace replied, "I've been in training sessions all morning. My head's spinning."
Anna said, "I can tell Mr. Stanley really values you, arranging so many courses for you. He's clearly grooming you for something bigger."
In the blink of an eye, the cafeteria hit peak lunch hours and was packed.
Grace surveyed the sea of people around them, amazed. "It's especially crowded today."
Because the cafeteria had limited seating, lunch hours were strictly scheduled by department. For instance, the project team was assigned to eat at 11:30 AM, ensuring every employee could find a seat.
Today's crowd control had clearly failed, with everyone flooding the cafeteria at once, making seats nearly impossible to find.
Grace and Anna were sitting at a four-person table with two empty seats beside them.
Grace was starving and wolfed down her rice and chicken leg. Halfway through eating, she suddenly realized her appetite had grown. Before, the same portion would have been more than enough, but perhaps due to pregnancy, her appetite had increased dramatically. She felt like she could eat another chicken leg.
But the serving line was extremely long.
Grace decided to make do with this lunch and order takeout back at the office to supplement her meal.
Suddenly, a familiar voice spoke beside them. "Excuse me, is this seat taken?"
Grace looked up to see Jeremy smiling as he stood by the seat, asking while already placing his items on the table to claim the spot.
"Jeremy?" Grace seemed momentarily disoriented.
Why would Jeremy be here?
He was from the executive office, Alexander's personal assistant. Usually, he had lunch with Alexander outside the company. With his high-level position, he typically wouldn't be caught dining in the employee cafeteria.
Anna found Jeremy vaguely familiar and frowned. "You look familiar..."
Grace reminded her, "He's Mr. Hayes's executive assistant."
Anna's eyes widened in recognition. "Oh! I remember now, he's from the executive office..."
