Chapter 289 Alexander, Can You Really Be Ruthless?
Chapter 289 Alexander, Can You Really Be Ruthless?
Alexander cut straight to the chase, "So you admit it—you're jealous!"
Seeing how determined he was to make her confess to being jealous, Grace didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Why are you so insistent on calling it jealousy?"
Alexander countered, "Is admitting you're jealous really that embarrassing?"
Grace immediately let out a haughty huff, "If I admit I was jealous, it makes it sound like I care about you so much!"
After saying this, she glanced at him dismissively, "I wasn't jealous at all! I was just purely annoyed!"
Alexander knew exactly what was going on.
She was absolutely jealous—she just didn't want to admit it!
Alexander's mood brightened considerably.
He reached out and pulled her into his arms, coaxing her like he would a child, "Alright, don't be upset anymore. Except for the children you give me, I won't acknowledge any children from other women."
Grace's face flushed an even deeper red, and she couldn't help pushing against him, "What are you doing? Who said I wanted to have your children?"
Alexander replied, "Whether you want to or not, you already have!"
Grace suddenly remembered—she was pregnant! Despite all her precautions, she had still gotten pregnant unexpectedly!
At this thought, Grace couldn't help but give him a light slap.
Alexander truly hadn't expected her to suddenly lash out like a kitten extending its claws, swatting him across the face.
He looked at her somewhat speechlessly, "What did you hit me for?"
Though it didn't hurt, seeing her suddenly become all huffy again and scratch at him without any apparent reason, Alexander felt her slap was completely unreasonable!
Grace declared, "I'm pregnant again now—are you satisfied?"
She wore an accusatory expression.
Alexander didn't react at first, "What do you mean satisfied or not..."
He was halfway through his sentence when it suddenly dawned on him. He narrowed his eyes and looked at her with some suspicion.
Only then did Grace throw the pregnancy test report from the nightstand at him, "Here, see for yourself!"
After saying this, she huffily lay down on the bed, wrapping herself in the blanket to hide her already flushed face!
Alexander was completely confused. Seeing her wrap herself up like a burrito with the blanket, he picked up the report in his hands and glanced at it.
One was a blood test.
He couldn't understand it very well, only seeing that several numbers seemed abnormal.
The other was an ultrasound report.
He naturally couldn't understand the ultrasound report, much less make sense of that small dark blob on it, but the black text on white background was crystal clear, "Intrauterine gestational sac-like echo visible, no fetal pole echo seen, fetal cardiac activity not observed."
"Intrauterine early pregnancy, viable embryo."
Alexander's eyes widened in surprise.
He looked again at the name on the report—it was filled in as Grace's.
This was her ultrasound report?
She was pregnant?
Alexander was momentarily stunned. "You're pregnant?"
From under the blanket came Grace's muffled voice, "Yes!"
Alexander's first reaction was shock, his heart swelling with emotion, yet he felt this surprise had come too suddenly—he couldn't sort through his thoughts for a moment.
So her afternoon hospital visit was to check on this!
But he had always used protection—this child was indeed quite unexpected.
Alexander said, "I always used protection."
Hidden under the blanket, Grace couldn't see Alexander's expression. When she heard this statement, she couldn't help feeling angry, along with a wave of disappointment!
He seemed to really dislike this child!
His tone was so calm, even carrying a hint of suspicion. Could it be that he thought this child was hers with another man?
Grace threw off the blanket and sat up, glaring at him angrily. However, when she saw the expression on Alexander's face, her own expression froze again.
In Alexander's eyes appeared a rare, precious tenderness.
With just one look, she felt as though she might drown in such gentle eyes.
Alexander said, "Grace, why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Grace replied, "I just finished the tests today. I wasn't sure before—how could I tell you?"
Alexander said, "I mean, as soon as you got home, you should have told me, instead of talking about other people's business."
As far as he was concerned, he didn't care about Emily's situation at all.
She should have told him much earlier!
Grace said, "I thought you wouldn't be happy about it!"
Alexander chuckled, "Why wouldn't I be happy?"
She was pregnant, carrying his little baby in her belly—should he be sad? Or angry?
As a father, shouldn't he be overjoyed and moved?
Although Grace had already given birth to one set of children for him, and Liam and Max were already seven years old, this was completely different.
When Grace was pregnant with Liam and Max, he had been in a vegetative state, lying unconscious in bed. After getting pregnant, she had hidden it from him and secretly given birth to the children.
By the time Liam was brought back, he was already three years old, and when Max acknowledged him as his father, he was already seven.
He had completely missed watching his two sons grow up from tiny babies in swaddling clothes.
Grace had never seen such an expression on Alexander's face before.
He seemed genuinely very happy.
Alexander continued, "You know, I've always felt that not having the chance to watch Liam and Max grow up bit by bit was my greatest regret. This time, if you're willing to have this baby, shouldn't I be happy?"
He wasn't a woman, but he also knew how difficult it was for women to have children.
She already had Liam and Max—if she was willing to have another baby for him, shouldn't he cherish her?
Grace said, "I..."
His words left her with absolutely no room to refuse.
Alexander saw her hesitant expression and grew nervous, "You don't want to? You don't want to have the baby, so you want to get an abortion?"
Grace said, "I... no. I originally felt that since I already had Liam and Max, I didn't want to have more children, so I was always very careful with protection. But the baby still came anyway. I feel like... it's somehow destined by fate..."
Maternal instinct was a wonderful thing.
Thinking about it, she realized she could never be heartless enough to abort the baby in her belly.
Alexander said, "Then let's have the baby. Are you worried I can't afford to raise four children?"
Including Lily, that was only four children.
He could certainly afford that!
Grace smiled, "At least you need to resolve Emily's situation first!"
She set a condition that wasn't too demanding.
Alexander nodded, "Alright, I'll take care of it immediately."
Grace looked at him somewhat skeptically, "Really? Alexander, those are your children too—can you really be that heartless?
