Chapter 23 When Enemies Cross Paths
Ex-husband?
Divorced?
The property consultant was even more bewildered.
She genuinely couldn't understand it.
If it were her, with such a handsome and wealthy husband, even if he kept multiple mistresses on the side, she would grit her teeth and never agree to a divorce.
Grace said, "Isn't this floor plan a bit too large?"
The property consultant replied, "If you feel this layout is too big, perhaps you'd like to look at the 2,800 square foot option."
As she spoke, she pushed the 2,800 square foot floor plan in front of Grace.
Grace was examining it when the manager suddenly approached and said, "Stop recommending the 2,800 square foot unit - it's sold out."
"Sold out?"
The manager said, "The Brown family heir and his fiancée came to view properties and just put down a deposit on that unit as their wedding home."
The property consultant nodded, her eyes showing envy as she looked at Grace. "Ms. Foster, I'm sorry, but as you heard, the 2,800 square foot units are sold out."
Grace said, "They're really that popular?" Silverlight City certainly had plenty of wealthy people.
She had just finished this thought when she suddenly heard a surprised voice: "Grace?"
Grace heard the familiar voice and stiffened, turning around.
Mia was holding onto a man's arm, staring at her with some surprise. "What are you doing here?"
Mia Foster! How could she run into her here?
At the mention of her half-sister, Grace frowned and turned her face away, pretending not to recognize her.
After their father married his second wife, he had John Foster and Mia Foster, and Grace's life became worse than that of an illegitimate child.
Years ago, when the Foster Group ran into business troubles, her father forced her to marry Alexander under the pretense that people should strive for better things, saying that the Hayes Group was prestigious in Silverlight City and she was lucky to marry into the Hayes family.
But if it had truly been a good thing, how could it have fallen to her?
Marrying Alexander was simply because Mary wanted the Hayes family to have a bloodline continuation. Before the wedding, Grace had signed an agreement that clearly separated all assets. Not only that, but when she married Alexander, it was obvious she would spend her life lonely at Hayes Manor.
After the Foster Group's business improved, John and Mia continued living their wealthy lifestyle.
Three years ago, Mia became engaged to the Brown family heir.
The Brown family was a famous elite family in Silverlight City. Mia marrying into them was definitely climbing the social ladder, naturally making her proud and triumphant.
They say it's better to marry well than to be born well. This marriage naturally became the Foster family's favorite topic of conversation. With the Brown family's support, the Foster Group's business reached new heights, and John inherited the company, thriving in every way.
When Max was born with health problems and transferred to the neonatal ICU, the daily bills were astronomical.
When Grace was desperate, she had once sought help from the Foster family, but they drove her away like a stray dog. From that point on, she cut all ties with the Foster family completely.
The manager looked at Mia and asked, "Ms. Foster, do you know each other?"
Mia paused, then said coldly, "Not really."
She was wondering why Grace had suddenly appeared here when her eyes gleamed with malice. "Grace, are you here for a job interview?"
The property consultant smiled. "Ms. Foster, this lady is our client."
"Client?" Mia laughed contemptuously. "As far as I know, she's not someone who can afford Radiant Pinnacle. Radiant Pinnacle is one of Silverlight City's most famous luxury developments. Don't you verify financial qualifications before showing properties? Don't waste time on someone like her."
The property consultant's smile froze.
Grace knew Mia was deliberately causing trouble. "Mia, mind your own business. As you said, we're not close."
Mia said, "I'm just feeling sorry for the property consultant here, wasting time on you. Can you even afford a place here? Don't think I don't know - you can barely afford your monthly rent!"
The property consultant looked at Grace with some concern. After all, in sales, no deal meant wasted time.
Could this woman really lack purchasing qualifications?
The property consultant said, "Miss, can you provide proof of assets?"
Grace replied, "I don't have proof of assets."
The manager and property consultant exchanged glances, becoming increasingly wary. "I'm sorry, but all clients viewing properties at Radiant Pinnacle need to provide proof of fifty million dollars in net assets. Without fifty million in net worth, we can't show properties."
Mia said, "Stop wasting your time. She can't produce it. Even the homeless people on the street have more in their pockets than she does."
This comment was essentially saying Grace was worse than a homeless person.
Nearby, Max and Liam suddenly turned their gazes toward Mia.
They could tell this woman was bullying Grace.
Max said coldly, "Where did these two flies come from? So noisy."
Liam also glared at Mia, crossed his arms, and snorted coldly.
Mia said disdainfully, "What are you, daring to act up in front of me?"
Max feigned surprise. "Isn't this Mia? Sorry, I didn't recognize you - after all, you didn't look like this when I was little!"
He examined Mia carefully, stroking his chin. "Plastic surgery? You used to be so ugly that even pigs would run into trees to avoid looking at you!"
Grace couldn't help but laugh at Max's sharp tongue.
Without using a single profane word, he had insulted Mia beyond any defense.
Mia was indeed infuriated.
She glanced at her fiancé beside her, her face turning green. "Grace, is this the little bastard you gave birth to?"
She pointed at Max arrogantly and mocked, "This little bastard is still alive? When he was born, he was half-dead. The doctors said he wouldn't live past one year - a defective product from birth. I can't believe he's grown this big. What luck."
Hearing this, Grace felt uncontrollable anger.
She was about to stand up when Max pressed her down and smiled at her gently.
"Mommy, stay elegant. Don't lose your composure because of people like this." Then Max turned around and gave Mia a cold glance. "You call me defective? Why don't you take a good look at yourself? You've not only had Botox injections in your face, but you've had them in your brain too, right? Oh wait, I don't think what's sitting on your neck is a brain at all - it's a malignant tumor. You should hurry to the hospital and have it removed."
Mia turned pale with rage. "You..."
"You little brat, why is your mouth so vicious?" Mia's fiancé couldn't stand it anymore and raised his voice.
Max said, "And what piece of trash are you? You want to stand up for her?"
Liam watched in amazement from the side.
Max spoke at a measured pace, but his comebacks were ruthless and devastating.
