180 - Midnight Birth

*Why can’t I have a normal birth? – Tammy*

Tammy shifted in the big bed and reached out for Molly. She was a week and a half past her due date and the farm was in the middle of calving season. It was not unusual for him to get up and check on the cows in the calving barns throughout the night.

But tonight, she needed him. Each of her births had been quick. Not once had she made it to the delivery room. This birth appeared to be no different.

“Holy fuck!” she hissed as the first excruciating pain hit her.

The other women stirred in the bed that no longer had Becks’ pink flowered comforter on the large bed. It had been hard to remove the pink bedding, but it had been harder to sleep under it. In the end, they finally settled on a new set that had bright multicolored flowers over a black and gray plaid.

Alicia sat up in the bed as liquid flooded out of Tammy. “Oh, hell…” she jumped out of the bed, causing Yvonne and Michaela to wake up.

Reaching over to the bedside table, Yvonne turned on the bedside lamp. Michaela moved from her side of the bed and headed down the hall to the room where Case was still staying. She knocked on the door and cringed as Tammy screamed out in pain. Eliza popped her head out of her room down the hall.

“Momma Mickey?” Eliza groggily used the nickname that they younger kids had recently started calling Michaela.

Other doors along the hall began to open and little heads popped out as Case opened her door.

“Eliza, take the littles downstairs and call Doc.” Michaela ordered as Tammy screamed again. “Send Trisha out to the barns, Momma T is having her baby.”

“Right now?” Case asked as her eyes widened in shock as Noel pushed out of Case’s room. Both women were in fleece pajama pants and t-shirts. As Noel went down the hall, she pulled on a hoodie and shoved her phone into the large pocket.

There was another scream that came from the main room.

“Okay, yes, right now.” Case said as she rushed down the hall to the room where she found Tammy on the floor and Alicia and Yvonne coaching her through her delivery. Out in the hall, Trisha and Noel headed downstairs to head out towards the barns. Meanwhile. Eliza, Amanda and Imogen rounded up the younger children and took them downstairs.

Imogen started the Disney movie that was still in the player in the media room downstairs while Eliza went out to the front porch and called Doc.

“What’s up, little one?” Doc asked sleepily in his usual greeting to any of the club kids.

“Momma T-“

“Shit, I’m on my way,” he declared. “Move, move, move. You big fluffballs need to move. Now I see why Werewolf doesn’t let the dogs sleep on the bed.”

Eliza laughed, “Because three Saint Bernards, a full-grown Husky and a puppy along with a biker make for a very full bed.”

Doc laughed from his end of the line, “Very accurate statement.”

“Front door is unlocked, and we have the littles in the media room. The moms are up in their room.”

“I’ll be there in just a few.”

“Thanks. Doc,” she said as his bike roared to life just before the call ended. She then scrolled and found the picture of her and Priss on Eliza’s first day of high school. She clicked on the green circle and her sister picked up on the second ring.

“Do you need an alibi?” Priscilla asked quietly.

“Momma T is in labor.”

“Well, shit,” came from the other end of the line just before a loud thud and a few more swear words. “Sorry, I dropped you, I’m on my way. Hey Rye, Momma T is in labor.”

“Hanging up, Priss,” Eliza said as she went back inside and opened the alarm control panel. She ended the call and slipped the phone into her pajama pants pocket. Entering her code, she opened the gate to the driveway and turned up the outside lights.

As the oldest daughter that was still at home, she felt as though she was responsible for all her brothers and sisters. It was not something that any of her parents had indicated, but just a sense of responsibility that came from being an older sibling in such a large family.

Slipping into the media room, she made her way over to the couch where Amanda sat with Tobias asleep with his head in her lap. “Hey,” she whispered kneeling behind the couch.

“I think most of them are back asleep.” Amanda whispered back.

Eliza gave a soft laugh. “The good news is that Momma T never takes long for delivery. I was born in a bathtub.”

“Well, merry Christmas to you and a rub-a-dub-dub.”

“You’re an idiot,” she laughed as she stood up.

“Are you going to go back up there?”

“Hell no!” Eliza said a little too loud and the little forms on the floor shifted slightly. Lowering her voice as her sister snickered and soothed Tobias. “I saw my mother’s vagina on the day I was born and have no plans to ever see it ever again. Or any of our mothers’ vaginas.”

Both girls shuddered with the thought.

“Did you see Noel was in Case’s room?” Amanda asked.

Eliza snickered. “Taking a hard left there.”

“Anything to change the subject.” The younger sister admitted. “But did you?”

“I did, but they were also both dressed and neither looked like they’d had a really good orgasm.”

“Eliza!” Amanda hissed. “Just what the hell do you – OH. EM. GEE! Who?”

Eliza grinned and shook her head as she blushed. “You can’t keep a secret so there is no way that I’m going to tell you.”

“Whatever.” Amanda huffed. Although her sister was right. She could not keep a secret, and it would burst out of her at the most inopportune time. And usually around the wrong people.

“You know that I’m right.” The older sister grinned.

“Yeah, I do. But that doesn’t mean that I like you being right.”

“What is she right about?” Priscilla asked as she joined them.

“That Amanda can’t keep a secret.”

“Like water in a sieve,” Priscilla chuckled softly.

“I’m not that bad!” Amanda hissed and both sisters looked at her in disbelief. “Am I really that bad?”

“Yeah, but we love you anyway,” Priscilla ruffled the younger sister’s hair. “Do you want to meet the newest sister?”

“Yes!” They both whisper yelled, and Amanda carefully moved Tobias so that she could stand up without waking him.

Quietly, they slipped out of the media room and upstairs into the big room. Eliza entered the room with her hand over her closed eyes.

“Sorry, Momma T,” Eliza said, “I do not need to see your lady bits.”

“My lady bits are tucked away,” Tammy laughed and then winced. “Drugs, damn it, I wanted drugs.”

“And yet, you never get them,” Doc laughed from where he was knelt between her legs.

“I don’t like you,” the new mother told him as he stood up with the large bowl that held the placenta.

“Yes, you do,” he smiled at her as he sat the bowl on the long dresser. “Just like you liked my dad.”

“Your dad saw too much of me too.”

“He did,” Doc agreed of his father, Stitches. “Come on, let’s get you up in the bed and then we’ll get that little lady over to you.”

Tammy nodded and allowed him to help her to stand and move back into the bed that now had fresh linens on it. This time it was a Christmas theme set that Alicia had found in the closet. Once settled in the bed, Yvonne handed the baby to her mom. Eliza and Amanda both sat on the bed and looked at their youngest sister.

They all oohed and awed over the sleeping baby with the dark hair and caramel colored skin. At one point, Doc said that he was going to call the doctor and let her know that the baby was born.

“Where’s dad?” Eliza quietly asked Priscilla, who shook her head.

“We haven’t been able to find him. We thought he was out at the barn, but he wasn’t there. Case said that she thought that she had an idea. Her and Noel went to get him.”

She hid her fear, but her sister knew her well enough to hear it in her voice. See it on her features. Just when she was about to ask again, the door opened, and Molly walked in.

It was obvious that he had been crying, but no one was sure if it was happy tears or not. Alicia shooed the girls out as Molly sat on the bed and Tammy handed him his newest daughter.

“Hello, my little pretty.”
