Chapter 72: hoping for the best
Monalisa's POV
I was in the classroom conducting a class activity when Godfrey dropped a message. I grabbed my phone and stepped outside to check the message. I opened the message and realised it was the address of the place we were supposed to meet by 4pm
I returned back to the class and continued with lectures.
It was lunch break, Jayden and Athena were heading out to go grab lunch when Cynthia appeared before him, insisting to tag along.
Athena growled at her , shoving her aside.
Jayden gave Cynthia a nod of approval.
Cynthia hurried to her office, grabbed her bag and joined them in the car.
"Thank you sir for letting me come with you" Cynthia thanked Jayden.
"Hmm" Jayden nodded without looking at her, as he was busy with his phone.
"Do not worry Jayden. Very soon, you'll be all mine. I've laid a perfect trap for Monalisa and I know she's already in it. Soon, you will oust her from your house and your life" she giggled, drawing my attention.
"What's funny? Jayden glared at her.
"No. Nothing. Just a little bit excited"
"I see. So what excites you?
"Uh... nothing much. Just...I feel like luck is hitting me soon "
"Yes bad luck" Athena snapped at Cynthia.
"What? Keep your mouth out of my talk, you..." Cynthia warned her.
"Me what? Dirty slut that can't stop throwing her cheap self at our boss" Athena remarked.
"What did you just say? Wow! This bitch has definitely grown mighty wings. You'll definitely be the next, trust me"
"So who are you dealing with? Perhaps... ma'am Monalisa? Sir Jayden, I think you should question Cynthia what plans she's got up her sleeves. I bet she's upto no good as usual "
"You...!
"Enough you two! Jayden barked at them, slamming his hand down. "You two give me a headache. I do not want to hear a sound until we get to the restaurant. Good grief"
They arrived at the restaurant for lunch. Cynthia tried joining Jayden's table when Athena grasped her hand pulling her back.
"That's enough whore! Don't you feel ashamed of yourself for throwing your body at a man who clearly doesn't want you and is also married to the most wonderful woman on earth "
"Let go of my hand otherwise..." Cynthia stared down at Athena's grip on her hand returned her gaze back to Athena's face. "You will be without hands and trust me with what I said... you will definitely be without hands"
Athens sneered at her. "What? You're indeed a crazy bitch.
"Let go"
"I won't let go. Why don't you come sit with me"
"Let go!
They were such an eyesore. Jayden had no option but to watch them fight.
"Let go bitch!
"Do your worse. Now shut it and come sit with me"
"I said let go! Cynthia raised her leg and stomped Athena's leg, causing Athena to yelp in pain.
Cynthia walked down to Jayden's table, drew out a chair and sat down, placing her bag on the other chair.
With Her elbows on the table, her hands cupping her chin, she gazed at him lustfully. She must have devoured him in her mind, disgusting bitch.
Their meal was served to them by the waiter and they dug in.
Jayden stopped eating, dropping his fork and knife, he wiped his mouth and placed the napkin on the table.
"What secret is Monalisa hiding from me? Jayden asked, leaning in.
"I beg your pardon? Cynthia pretended to be surprised.
"Do not lie to me. What the hell is going on with her?
"How am I supposed to know. She's your woman. Have you noticed anything suspicious?
Jayden leaned back, casting his mind back.
"Hold on, I remember, one of the nights, had stepped out of the bathroom when I heard her phone vibrate. I reached out to grab her phone and her swiftly grabbed the phone and she tittered and stepped out of the bedroom. I also recalled seeing a message drop in her phone and I couldn't read it all but I had seen something which read..."I am not here in New York city to play around. I.."
That's what I could read. She's been acting up lately, especially when a certain call comes in. That's it! She's been blackmailed by someone But who...?
Jayden returned his gaze at Cynthia.
"To think I was speaking with the devil all these while" Jayden fixed her with a furious glare and his voice dripping in anger .
"What are you saying?
Jayden slammed his hands down on the table and he stood up abruptly, his face twisted in rage; his eyes blazing and anger radiating from every pore.
"What is it Jayden?
"You bitch! You're so fucking lucky that we are in a public place. I would have showed you your dirty place. You dare Blackmail my wife again? So what that her mum is alive? So what she hid it from me. She is not in good terms with her mum to the extent she considers her mum dead , then her mum is as good as dead. Her mum is so wrong to reappear in her life and she teamed up with you to hurt My Flavour. You want my flavour to lose its flavor from so much stress "
"What are you saying sir?
"You already know what I'm saying. What? You thought that I would never figure out your disgusting plans? You thought I would lean towards you just become of a little misunderstanding? You tried to make me suspicious of my woman and turn me against her. You failed. Athena!
"Yes sir"
"Get the car, we're leaving for the office"
"Right away sir"
Athena glared at Cynthia and next second she snorted in derision before leaving to get the car ready.
Cynthia stabbed the meat with the fork and clenched her Palms, fumming with so much anger. Her eyes was blazing with so much anger, her nostrils flared and her face was turning red. Smoke escaping from her two ears.
"No Jayden. You belong to me. I won't let this slide. I'm going to show you all who I truly am. I won't let you and Monalisa be together. Never! I'm going to shatter her."
Cynthia grabbed her bag and took out her phone m she failed Godfrey's number.
"The time is now. We can't continue with the threats. It's time we end it all and destroy her. Do not disappoint me..got it?
After rounding up with the students class activities, I packed up to leave.
I took a deep breath before stepping out of my office.
I got a taxi to go meet Godfrey.
On my way, my phone rang, Jayden was calling. I took a deep breath before picking his call.
"Where are you? Jayden asked.
"Uh...in a taxi. I just got a taxi. What? Any problem?
"I intended picking you up. Why don't you drop by at my office?
"Uh...I don't know..I have something very important to do. We'll meet at home "
"And what's that?
"When I come home, I'll tell you everything, trust me"
"Yes I do. Take care then"
"Yes. Jayden..."
"Yes?
"Always remember that I really love you so much and I have never intended to hurt you in anyway or hide anything from you "
"Why are you sounding this way? Is everything okay with you? Do I come find you? You need me don't you? Tell me where you are right now and I'll come find you "
"No. I'm all good. Maybe I'm ovulating or maybe my period is closer. Just felt like saying those words to you "
"Are you being honest with me?
"Yes I am.. I really love you so much and it's not bad for woman to go professing her love for her husband"
"Okay. I believe you. See you soon"
"Yes babe. Bye" I hung up and leaned back, exhaling immediately.
Godfrey's call came in immediately.
"Where are you?
"In a taxi. I'll be there soon"
"Good. Don't keep me waiting woman"
"I know. I won't keep you waiting. Godfrey..."
"What is it?
"I hope to have a heart to heart talk with you. I hope you will realize that you are making a big mistake by trying to ruin my happiness"
"Shut the fuck up bitch! He barked at me and hung up immediately.
"He hung up. Crazy fellow; I have to do everything within my power to get him see things from my own perspective and forget about this revenge plan. I have to. Oh dear Lord, I need all the strength to resolve it all. I hope I would be able to do so. I'm so exhausted "
I shut my eyes, hoping for the best, with the thoughts of getting everything resolved. However, I had no idea that Cynthia had prepared a storm for me and that the storm that Cynthia had prepared for me was quite strong and it would hit me so badly, leaving me shattered and shaken for life.
