Chapter 55 Chapter 55

Chapter 55 Chapter 55
"You're healing up nicely," Tara beamed as she discarded the last bandage she had just removed from around Chris. She cleaned the wound before wrapping a fresh bandage around him. All the while, Chris stared at her in silence, his hands still in chains

"You know even without you, those Rendro wolves got the world leaders to offer a direct decree, now they can go back to their pack and live in peace. I bet Jeremy will go home to Delrago first, I heard he has regained his memory"

Chris said nothing as Tara began to dab warm wet towel over his body to clean him up.

She sighs happily once she was done and stood up carrying everything she had used on a large tray and was about walk out when Chris spoke up in his hoarse voice that he had not been using for days

"When are you planning to let me go Tara?

The omega paused and let out a disbelieving scoff

"All it took was mentioning Jeremy and now you're talking" she turned back around to face him "you held Jeremy captive for two years so maybe I'll double it to four, or maybe forty or maybe until you accept me as your mate"

Chris lets out a humorless laugh at that

"Accept you? Did you learn nothing from my own attempt?"

"That's because Jeremy's not your destined mate, but I am. Jeremy's mate is alive, and you'll never have a chance with him. But with me..." Her voice softened.
"With me it's possible, Alpha. Just give in already."

Chris scoffed.

"The only one my heart yearns for is Jeremy. Always will be."
Tara's face darkened and her grip on the tray tightened

"You'll be here for a long time then. Someone else will bring you dinner."

With that she walked out of the room and headed straight to the kitchen, where she dumped the tray unceremoniously onto the table.

"You bastard!" she cursed as she slid to the floor, buried her face in her hands, and cried. "What more do you want me to do Chris, why won't you love me?"

"Do you guys really have to go?" Mica whined as she watched Jeremy carefully fold clothes into their bag.
A bag around which Jaden happily jumped around like a little squirrel.

"I've been away for so long. I miss everyone."

Mica sighed as she lunged forward and hugged him.

"I'll miss you and Jaden. I won't miss Drey. Your mate is kinda mean to me."

Jeremy giggled.

"He has the same opinion about you."

Mica scoffed and let go while Jeremy continued folding the clothes.

"I'll miss you too," he said, "and everyone here, really. And I'm sorry I won't be able to help with moving into the pack land and all..."

"Shh."

Mica gently shushed him.

"You don't have to do anything. Your husband already said he's got the money to cover your part. Moreover..." She took Jeremy's hand. "You still don't know how you became a Rendro wolf. It's okay if you want to figure that out first."

Jeremy sighed in relief. How did Mica understand him so well?

He sniffled.

"Depending on how things go, I'll still visit Rendro Pack, and if I'm not accepted at home I..."

Mica suddenly pulled him into another hug, cutting him off.

"Nothing of the sort will happen. Oliver told me what you used to be like, and honestly, it's hard not to love you. But if they're being dicks about it, you have another pack that'll welcome you anytime, any day."

Jeremy smiled as he wrapped an arm around her waist and hugged her back tightly.

Suddenly, his smile disappeared and he sniffed the air around Mica curiously before his eyes widened in shock.

"Oh my God..." he sniffed the air around her again "are you..." His hand flew to cover his mouth as Mica smiled. "You're pregnant?"

Mica nodded.

Jeremy excitedly dived in for another hug.

"How long?"

"I think I'm already four weeks in."

"Does Oliver know?"

Mica let out a frustrated sigh as she pulled away from the hug

"I don't want to say this, but you're really surrounded by dense people, and Oliver takes the crown for the densest. Because tell me why I've been trying to get him to notice, but he's just so..." she lets out another frustrated sigh

Jeremy burst into laughter.

"That reminds me of when we were sixteen or so. I wanted to prank him, so I changed my scent, dressed up like a girl, and went on a date with him and trust me until I gave myself away, Oliver didn't realize it was me just because I had makeup and a wig on. You should've seen his face when he found out. It was hilarious."

Mica laughed along.

"How can he be so stupid?"

"He makes it so easy so our group of friends took turns pranking him. He never won." Jeremy sighs happily and smiles. "But that clumsiness is what makes him cute, no?"

Mica nodded, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye.

"That being said, if you don't tell him, he's not going to notice until your baby bump starts showing or until the baby's heartbeat gets louder."

"I can't wait that long to see what his expression will look like." Mica gasped

"Then you should tell him."

"Tell who what?" Drey asked as he walked in with Oliver strolling behind him.

Before Jeremy could answer, Mica got up and grabbed Oliver's hand.

"Come with me, Oliver. I need to tell you something."
And she dragged him outside.

"Huh? What's that about?" Drey asked.

"Didn't you think Mica felt different just now?" Jeremy asked making Drey raise a brow in question.

"How?"

"Her scent. There was another scent underneath it."
"Couldn't you tell?"

Drey shook his head as he effortlessly scooped Jaden into his arms, making Jeremy sigh disappointed as he continued folding clothes.

"You're just as dumb." He mumbled but Drey was lost in his play with Jaden.

"What's up?" Oliver asked as Mica led him to a secluded clearing where she turned to face him and took both his hands in hers.

"Oliver... I'm pregnant."

The blond alpha froze, his eyes widening in shock.

"What did you say?" He asked slowly.

Mica smiled and repeated herself, even louder.

"I'm pregnant."

Oliver's mouth fell open.

A single tear rolled down his cheek.

"Babe..."

He pulled her into a tight embrace.

"This is the best news of my life."

"We get to have our own family." Mica hugged back, feeling all of Oliver's emotion from the hug

"On that note..." Oliver reluctantly pulled away after a long moment before dropping to one knee.
"I've been getting tips from Drey on how to propose properly, and..." He pulled out a small emerald-green box and opened it to reveal a beautiful emerald ring.
"It's not because you're pregnant. I would've done this anyway."

"You've been the light in a life that once looked like darkness. Without you, I feel like I could've lost my way. Though the Moon Goddess gave us people as part of her plan A..." He smiled. "I love her plan B better. And I know you feel the same. So, Mica..." he cleared his throat "Will you mar—"

"Yes!"

Mica shouted before he could finish, jumped into his arms and kissed him deeply.

"I'll marry you, Oliver."

The blond alpha beamed as he slid the ring onto her finger before kissing her again.

"I love you, Mica. I love you so much."

"I love you too, Oliver."

"We should go inside."

They finally pulled apart.

"It's getting colder," Mica said, and was about to walk away when Oliver gently stopped her.

"Let me."

Without another word, he swept her off her feet and carried her bridal style.

Mica giggled throughout the walk back to their room making Oliver smile.

That laugh had to be the cutest sound in the world he's ever heard and now it's his favourite sound.
