Walk down memory lane

Walk down memory lane
Elsie’s pov~

“I don't think I want to walk down memory lane with you Angelo, not right now, not when we are about to get blown to bits size” I started.

He looked at me intensely, “Nothing is going to happen, Elsie, it's a bluff if he wanted to kill us he would have done that by now” he paused, sounding extremely sure of himself.

“The gentry, they are just making empty threats, they can't do anything to you, baby, not while in here” I slapped him.

Hard.

He was stunned, obviously expecting that after his sweet tongue had just rolled out blissfully.

“Why did you do that?” he asked sounding angry, “Look around Angelo! There is a bomb outside the door! They’ve been shooting at us, are you insane? What the hell do you mean trust you?, Like I trusted you 5 years ago when you left me half dead on the floor of this splendid mansion!! Trust you? Our entire relationship was built on lies!”

Flashback to 6 years ago…….

Much to my sadness, my sister had just moved into Angelo's new mansion, this very one.

I was angry and sad, and I think that was when this whole revenge thing started for me.

I was 19, daddy’s little girl and I wanted to visit my sister for my birthday.

She wasn't so excited about the idea but my dad didn't care.

He gave me everything I wanted, well everything but Angelo, he was very insistent that he marry Evelyn.

I couldn't take it, watching the only man I'd ever fallen for walk down the aisle with a woman who would never appreciate him much less love him, devastated me.

But the pain worsened the day  I packed a small letter detailing all my feelings to him.

I'd left out two things, my name and his.

My father had instructed that we have a family birthday dinner for me at Evelyn's new home.

So much for getting rid of me, my friend Leya and Astrid were Norwegian twins I grew up with. They came with me and we were giggling in my room getting ready for dinner when Evelyn walked in beside her.

I was stunned, not right now! Not when all I have on is a thin chemise, I could see the outline of my panty in the mirror.

It was a tiger print, leya had wanted to be audacious, “officially an adult!” she had said.

Angelo stood by the door watching me, his eyes didnt leave mine as he leaned on the door frame, I saw him eye every corner of my young body.

My sister walked in, slowly, like the evil villain she was in my life.

“I hate the fact that I have to put up with you still Elsie” she started, I didnt respond.

I was terrified of her then, she had always somehow made my life a living hell when Mama and Papa weren't watching.

“Daddy says we could have dinner here” I started trying to affirm my rights before she further violated me in front of the one man I can't stop thinking about.

“And you thought that was a fantastic idea? Huh? Are you insane? There are lots of other places you could have picked to celebrate this horrid day Elsie, the pink gates hotel for one? Pelican Place Hotel? Swans? No! You woke up in the morning feeling fucking special and you said gee”

She paused before standing in front of me.

But I could still feel Angelo’s intense glare.

Scared as I was, I enjoyed the attention he was giving me, I liked that he did it in front of my sister.

“Why not make Evelyn’s life a living hell, and celebrate it there!” she exclaimed.

“You are my sister, Daddy said….”

“Ugh!!!!” she screamed in frustration, Angelo stepped in and touched the sides of her shoulder calmly.

She shrugged it away, “come on Evelyn its not a big deal its just one day” he said.

He turned to look at me and our eyes met, In my guilt-ridden moment I looked away.

“No! She's always done this Angelo don't you get it? She's always been this annoying little twerp! Why can't you just stay far away from me? I hate seeing you around me, I can't stand you! If it wasn't for your precious daddy I'd have you thrown out right now!” My sister’s words were cruel.

Much more cruel back then, and worse when Angelo had suggested I become their surrogate.

“I just wanted to spend one last birthday with you before I leave!” I replied and regretted it immediately.

“What?” I heard Angelo ask, my sister didnt care where I was going, as long as I was out of her line of sight.

“Yes im going to Spain, with Leya and Astrid” I continued.

A smile crept on her face, “Well then why didnt you lead with that?” she asked, “but…” Angelo started, his eyes looking down at my lips.

“But that's so far away” he continued, and I nodded in response before looking into his jade eyes again.

Guilty, guilty of these feelings I get when im with him, he belonged to my sister but I wanted him more than Eve wanted the first fruit.

I was desperate for him, and right now with the way he was looking at me, maybe.. If I played my games right, he could be mine.

You never appreciated him, Evelyn, I'll make him mine instead.

“I don't care if she gets shipped off to Antarctica, Angelo I want her gone, I'm glad she's leaving, that's one less thing to worry about” Evelyn stated before heading for the door.

She stopped in her tracks and spotted my handwritten letter.

She quickly grabbed it from Astrid, “shit!” she cursed, “evelyn stop that’s personal!”

My heart was beating out of my chest, no not right now.

Not in front of Angelo!

“What do we have here?” she asked, slowly pulling the letter from the envelope.

She scanned the first paragraph and roared in laughter.

“Elsie are you in love with a boy whose eyes make you think of….” she paused giving the letter a deeper look.

“Trees? Did I get that right? Trees? Elsie?” she added.

I was so embarrassed I had no idea what to do, my entire body froze from shame, If she reads the entire letter she will find out the man im writing to is her husband!

She ripped the letter and I gasped, attempting to take it from her but she had successfully ripped it to shreds.

“You are in love with a boy? Does he know how much of a pest you are? You think he is going to love you back with those small undergrowth boobs you have poking out of whatever it is you have on” she said.

Tears had now welled up in my face, I had planned to slip that letter into Angelo’s pocket at the dinner but now it's gone.

“Pathetic” my sister stated clearly before starting for the door again.

Angelo didn't follow, he was mesmerised by my young body to care, “Angelo!” I heard her call before he turned and followed her out.

I sighed, “damn girl that was intense, I didn't know your sister hated you this much” Astrid said, I nodded.

“yeah, nothing I do will ever be enough for her so ill stop trying” I replied banging my palm on the vanity table.

“On the bright side its just today, by the weekend we will be in the beautiful kingdom of Espania” Leya smiled, giving my shoulders a light squeeze.

In truth, I didn't want to go, never wanted to.

It is my only escape from this reality, watching the love of my life looking at me the way I always wanted him to, excited me.

Does he like me? Does he want me?

I heard footsteps backing up towards us, and someone peered in.

It was Angelo.

“Im sorry about that” he started, “your sister is just having a hard time… adjusting” he said looking away.

I was shy and my cheeks blushed like a school girl, “I figured”

“Let me make it up to you” he had said.

I looked up at him before glancing at my friends at the back.

“Before your birthday dinner I'll make it up to you, will you let me?” he asked.

Words that set my world rolling, I nodded quickly.

“Great,” he smiled.

“ Meet me in the west wing of the mansion. I'll have a big surprise waiting for you” he smiled, he walked in.

An aura of intensity around him, he lowered his lips to mine and for a brief moment I could swear he wanted to kiss me.

Instead, he kissed my cheeks, softly.

“Dont wander too far sweet girl, or you’ll get lost”

And I did get lost, and now I'm thinking he wanted it that way.

This was all his doing.

With the timer still counting down to the last seconds of our lives, my mind strolled down memory lane.

Hidden memories are finally coming to light.
