Your Dog likes me

Your Dog likes me
EVELYN’S POV~

The driver stopped me in front of Wade's apartment building. It was one of the biggest in the city that my father couldn't afford to own on time.

“Are you sure you're okay?” the driver asked, waving to Gigi after I signalled to her to come out.

“Yeah” but Gigi barked for some reason she has grown attached to him in this short ride and now she can't seem to leave him.

“I think your dog likes me. I wonder if it's because….”

“Get your head out of your ass, you are just a driver, here to take me anywhere I want” she paid and turned to Gigi.

“Come girl” The dog was reluctant but after a quick yell of her name “Gigi!!” The poodle followed swiftly.

The driver smiled, said nothing, he only waved and left.

I took a deep long breath and headed up into the lobby, I slid my glasses on and covered my face with my hat so no one could recognise me.

The elevator chimed and I saw Wade step out, he scanned the huge room filled with rich bright lights and enormous ornamentals and accessories.

I waited for nature to point me in his direction and it seemed I was on a roll.

He saw me out of the corner of his eye before double-checking to see if it was me.

A smile plastered on his face, he waved at me.

I gave a small wave back and started my journey to him. One of the lobby attendants was going to stop me but then he waved him off and he backed away.

I was very annoyed, Today is not one of those days I become homeless, not on my watch.

“Evelyn are you okay?” he asked, picking Gigi up, She didn't complain.

Lucky girl, I wish his arms were around me, not the wretched canine.

No sooner had dark thoughts crept in than the elevator started to ascend, higher and higher, and the question grew too numb to answer.

“On the phone, you sounded very disturbed, are you okay?” he asked, I gave no response, I kept my face straight.

Then he switched the mutt to his other arm and touched my hand finally.

I melted, “Everything is just going insane okay? My sister! That bitch has ruined my life to the point that I can't return, everyone knows she's married to Angelo now, I'm no longer invited anywhere! And you are in on it too!” I snapped finally, The rage was just at my fingertips.

The elevator stopped and the door chimed, I walked out and into a small hallway.

He took my hand and pulled me towards a huge door, he opened it and all I could feel was the might of his male essence as the scent of the room permeated my nostrils.

“I never wanted to hurt you” he started, words that felt so real but my core knows he is lying.

“I don't believe that, not one bit” I replied almost immediately, he put Gigi down, she scrambled to one of the pillows and lay her head there, watching us argue.

“This was never about you trust me, I've been after Angelo for years and when your sister came to us I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally free you from him” he started.

He sounded almost like he was saving me…

Another lie? Perhaps a trick?

He touched my shoulder simultaneously, “listen to me carefully Evelyn, I know you don't love Angelo, far from it, you tolerate him, your ex husband is mixed into really bad shit, its really bad Evelyn and if you don't get yourself out of it right now, when everything comes crashing down, you are gonna be swept right with him if you keep this up” he stated plainly.

“I know my Angelo’s company and what they do, im not stupid, I know he has dabbled in bad deals but come on his workers would never turn on him”

Wade laughed, he slowly backed away from me before leaning on the sofa.

He looked at me and for a second I thought I saw pity in his eyes.

“You don't know who Angelo is, do you?” he asked, I was confused, “What are you saying?” I retorted.

“ I think you are going to need to sit down for this,” Wade said, taking my hand and leading me to the sofa.

“What the hell is going on?” I asked, somehow I knew he had been entangled with some very dangerous people.

I never wanted to know the details, I just wanted my share of whatever his next huge deal was, that was the deal in our marriage, that way he gets to keep me.

“Your ex-husband is a known dirty drug dealer” he started and I burst out laughing.

I got up and placed my hand on my hip,

“Oh Wade, I didn't think you'd ever see Angelo as a rival, you don't have to say dirty things about him to sway me, im not in love with him” I replied.

Wade sighed and looked down at his palm before looking back at me.

“That’s not it..” he said, “Evelyn…” he whispered my name.

I leaned closer and touched his chin, “You don't have to worry about anything alright? Angelo is just convenient, he makes life a tad bit easier for me that's all, I'm here with you aren't I?” I asked, my fingers brushed against his lips, his gaze was intense and suddenly I was 16 again.

This time cadet Sawyer had left for the night and I was left blushing my cheeks out in my bed, I longed for the day that I'd see him again.

“He is leaving soon” my father said, stepping into my room, “Did you make friends with him?” he asked.

I nodded, “good girl” he replied before turning to leave, “keep this little encounter between us, I don't want you little sister getting herself all worked up, I don't want anything stressing her out before her big exam next week, understood?” he stated.

She had always been his favourite child, and I could never compare.

I gave another frightened nod.

My father gave me a long glare as he always does before closing the door behind him.

The room felt familiar again and I was with Wade, on top of him on the sofa.

I jolted away from him, “im sorry… um” I was confused. Wait, now I'm missing time?

It was getting too dangerous to ignore. My last session with Arlo had seemed to reduce the occurrences but now, it's like I can't feel myself anymore.

Like I'm slowly slipping away…

I have to find Arlo before I go completely insane.

“Are you okay?” he asked, taking my hand, “Yeah im okay It's just, this was a mistake, Wade, Elsie the Me out of the estate and I have to find a decent place to…”

“Stay here” he interrupted, I looked at him, “What? Here?” I asked, looking at how very masculine the room was.

“Yeah, I don't mind, take it, I've got lots of other places to shack up okay, just….”

His phone rang, and he looked at the caller before ignoring it.

“I need you to just look into Vybe, okay, just look into it and….”

His phone rang again, he groaned, “Sorry I've got to take this, it's my partner”

I nodded and he picked up the call.

“Hello…” he started, from the call I could hear gunshots ringing loudly, his eyes widened as someone explained things to him, I couldn't make out much of it but I knew he was needed.

He dropped the call, “I've got to go now Evelyn but think about what I said okay? Vybe” he said before rushing off to the door.

Vybe, what the hell is that?

I could smell something fishy and somehow this Vybe is meant to be tied to me.

First I have to fix my issues, then I can focus my revenge on my sister.

I'm going to find out where you've been for the past 5 years, darling sister. When I do, I'll figure out a way to overthrow my father’s will.

I should have been CEO, not her.
