Chapter 999: Collecting Some Interest First

In the room, apart from the walls, all the furniture was burned down to blackened frames.

Deanna searched relentlessly, but as Killian had said, there were no clues.

Her pink lips tightened, showing her displeasure.

Despite this, she didn't want to give up. "Isn't there a basement? Let's check the basement."

Lance glanced at her, understanding her frustration, and gave Killian a look.

Killian understood and respectfully said to Deanna, "Missus, please follow me."

With that, he led the way.

Deanna immediately followed.

In less than two minutes, the three of them reached the basement, but again, there were no clues.

Seeing Deanna's disappointed face, Lance pulled her into his arms and comforted her. "Don't be upset. We can think of other ways."

"There are no other ways. This doctor was the last witness. If there were other evidence, I wouldn't have pinned all my hopes on this doctor," Deanna shook her head firmly.

Lance looked at her calm demeanor and didn't know how to console her.

The three of them returned to the city in silence.

Back in the room, Deanna sat on the sofa, feeling dejected and useless.

Not only had she failed in the past few years, but even now with her master and Lance's help, she still couldn't avenge her mother.

Lance felt the gloom emanating from Deanna and was filled with pity.

He didn't want to see Deanna upset over this and came up with an idea.

"Actually, even if the only witness is gone, we can still ensure that the murderer who killed your mother gets the punishment they deserve."

"Really?"

Deanna looked at him in disbelief, her eyes filled with hope.

Lance nodded. "Of course it's true. You know I wouldn't lie to you."

Seeing his serious expression, Deanna's mood lifted. She excitedly asked, "What method do you have to prove that Mia and her accomplices killed my mother?"

"This method is simple. In fact, I have two plans."

Lance teased her with a smile.

Deanna couldn't wait and quickly walked over from the sofa, urging him, "What are the two plans? Tell me quickly."

Faced with her urgency, Lance couldn't resist and slowly explained his two ideas.

"The first one: although all evidence has been destroyed, we can create evidence. According to human psychology, the murderer who killed your mother is currently very complacent. As long as you get a confession from her about the murder process, the law will take effect."

"And the second one?"

Deanna looked at him eagerly.

Lance smiled slightly and continued, "The second one is to use trickery to make the murderer panic and reveal a flaw. But I personally think the first plan is more likely to succeed."

After thinking for a moment, Deanna nodded in agreement.

"You're right. I've actually tried the second method before. When you were abroad, Garrett tried to kidnap my grandmother to make me pay off her debts. Later, my uncle and aunt helped out. To protect herself, Garrett revealed that Mia and Emily were involved in my mother's murder. I called the police immediately, but those two remained calm and didn't panic at all."

Deanna recounted what had happened before.

Lance's face turned serious upon hearing this. "Why didn't you tell me about this?"

"Uh... can I say I forgot?"

Deanna looked at him sheepishly.

Before Lance could respond, she continued, "Knowing Emily and Mia, they must be very complacent now. I'll find a way to encounter them by chance and provoke them. This plan should work."

However, Lance didn't agree.

He didn't want Deanna to take risks and decided to handle it himself.

"You shouldn't go. Leave this to me. I'll make sure to get the evidence."

"You?"

Deanna looked at him puzzled and asked, "How do you plan to make them confess?"

Lance met her gaze and smiled. "People who have done bad things are usually afraid of ghosts."

"So you're planning to scare them?"

Deanna immediately guessed Lance's idea and thought it was better than hers.

This way, they could mentally torment Mia and Emily before avenging her mother.

Lance didn't deny it and nodded. "I'll contact someone to make arrangements. We should have good news in a couple of days."

"Then go make the arrangements quickly."

Deanna urged Lance excitedly.

Lance nodded and took out his phone to contact his subordinates back home.

His subordinates were very efficient and started taking action that very night.
