Lance remained indifferent after hearing Eula's words.
He replied coldly, "What you said is correct, but I also have the right to refuse to answer."
Eula could no longer maintain her smile.
"Lance, did I upset you?"
She looked at him seriously, but inside she felt a bit panicked.
Because these days, she could clearly feel Lance's indifference towards her.
Was it because of her previous exposure?
Seeing her expression, Lance said coldly, "No, it's just that after what happened today, I really don't have the mood or energy to deal with you. I'll have someone send you back."
After saying this, he didn't care whether Eula agreed or not and called Xavier to take her away.
On the way back, Eula's face was grim.
Her intuition told her that there must be some inside story behind Lance's reluctance to speak.
"You go investigate secretly. Find out the truth about Deanna's jump today. You can start from the hospital."
There were many people in the hospital. Even if Lance ordered a cover-up, there would always be one or two who wouldn't keep quiet.
And indeed, that was the case.
Around eight o'clock that evening, Eula's confidant had found out the truth.
"Master, according to the nurses in the hospital, Deanna was under some kind of hypnosis. Due to the drug's effect, it couldn't be lifted by an ordinary psychologist."
"Hypnotized..."
Eula squinted her eyes mysteriously.
No wonder Lance didn't want to tell her; he was probably guarding against her.
Thinking of this, Eula turned to her confidant and instructed, "Go find out who hypnotized Deanna."
...
The next morning, in the hospital ward.
Deanna woke up from her sleep and stared at the white ceiling, momentarily not knowing where she was.
Was she not dead?
Thinking of the scene she saw before she fainted yesterday, she couldn't help but show a look of fear on her face.
She didn't understand why she ended up falling from mid-air when she was just going to a restaurant for a meal.
Just as she was puzzled, a hoarse voice sounded in her ear.
"Deanna, you're awake."
Lance looked at Deanna with joy.
Deanna came back to her senses and saw Lance's haggard face. She frowned, "Did you stay up all night again?"
"I was worried about you and wanted to wait for you to wake up. How do you feel? Is there any discomfort?"
Although the doctor had checked and found no issues, Lance couldn't help but ask out of concern.
After all, sometimes medical equipment could make mistakes.
Seeing Lance's worried eyes, Deanna felt warm inside.
She smiled and shook her head, "I don't feel any discomfort. But you need to rest."
After saying this, she moved aside and patted the empty space next to her, "Come lie down for a while."
Lance didn't refuse. He took off his shoes and coat, got into bed, and tightly held Deanna in his arms, feeling like he had regained something lost.
He buried his head in Deanna's neck and took a deep breath, whispering, "It's so good that you're okay."
Hearing this, Deanna felt a strange sensation in her heart.
"Do you know what happened exactly?"
She turned her head slightly and asked in confusion.
Lance was silent for a few seconds before explaining everything, "Yesterday evening, you received a phone call and were hypnotized. You were suggested to commit suicide by jumping off the building."
"Suicide by jumping off the building?!"
Deanna repeated in shock and doubt. No wonder when she regained consciousness yesterday, she was in mid-air and almost scared to death.
Thinking about it, she suddenly looked at Lance nervously and asked, "My grandmother and Gregory and Chloe don't know about my suicide attempt, right?"
Knowing what Deanna was worried about, Lance raised his hand to help tidy the hair scattered on her cheek while explaining, "Don't worry. Although this incident was reported online, I had the servants at home disconnect the internet and quickly took down the news."
"As long as Grandma doesn't know. Otherwise, I'm afraid it would shock her."
Deanna breathed a sigh of relief.
Lance looked at her deeply and continued, "So who was the last person who called you yesterday?"
Hearing this, Deanna didn't answer immediately but frowned with some hesitation.
"What is it? Can't you say?"
Lance noticed Deanna's hesitation and felt uneasy.
He thought Deanna wanted to cover for that person.
Deanna shook her head, "It's not that I can't say. The call was from Julia. I hesitated because I think there might be something we don't know."
"Let's call her over and ask."
After saying this, Lance took out his phone to contact Julia. However, her phone was turned off and couldn't be reached.
He frowned slightly and then called Lionel.
The call was quickly answered by Lionel's puzzled voice.
"Mr. Mercer, what's the matter?"
"I'm looking for Julia. Is she with you?"
Lance got straight to the point.
Lionel said she was there and handed the phone to Julia.
Julia asked, "Mr. Mercer, are you looking for me?"
