Deanna and Mr. Martinez did not object. After all, Lionel was half a doctor himself and knew what was best for his health.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Lionel's expression turned serious. He looked at Deanna and Gunner and asked, "I've been in a coma for so long. Have you investigated the attack on the research institute?"
Gunner responded, "Yes, we've investigated it thoroughly. It was orchestrated by the four major families, and Brent was bribed by them. We haven't found Brent yet, but rest assured, the Martinez family will give you an explanation. As compensation, I allow you to read the books in the Martinez family's ancient library."
Lionel was overjoyed. "Mr. Martinez, are you serious?"
"Of course, but you need to recover first," Gunner confirmed with a nod.
Deanna, standing nearby, was also tempted by the mention of the ancient library. She remembered her master mentioning a three-story library at home that housed five hundred years of ancient medicine books and rare manuscripts.
Noticing Deanna's intense gaze, Gunner chuckled and said, "You don't need to look at me like that. As the heir of the Martinez family, you must also familiarize yourself with the books in the library."
"I understand. I won't disappoint you," Deanna replied with a smile. She then looked at Lionel and noticed he was staring at her friend.
It was clear Lionel had something to say to her friend. Deanna's eyes twinkled mischievously as she said, "Master, since Mr. Grant is fine now, let's go back and let him rest."
"Yes, he needs rest. Julia, take care of Lionel," Gunner said with a knowing smile.
Julia's cheeks flushed slightly as she tried to refuse, but Deanna and Gunner didn't give her a chance to speak and quickly left. Before leaving, Deanna winked at her friend, silently encouraging her.
Seeing her friend's teasing look, Julia's face turned even redder, and she wanted to escape. "Well, now that you're awake, I should go," Julia said without looking at Lionel and turned to leave.
But before she could take a step, Lionel's words stopped her in her tracks. "Miss King, although I was in a coma for the past few days, I was conscious. Are you planning to take advantage of me without taking responsibility again?"
"When did I take advantage of you?" Julia retorted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, glaring at him.
If one looked closely, they would see guilt in her eyes. She regretted what had happened two days ago. If she had known he was conscious, she wouldn't have been tempted by his good looks.
Two days ago, while cleaning up for Lionel, Julia accidentally slipped and fell on top of him. They ended up kissing accidentally. Instead of pulling away immediately, she found his lips soft and couldn't resist kissing him more.
Thinking about it made Julia's cheeks flush again. Her expression greatly amused Lionel.
Lionel raised an eyebrow and said, "Miss King doesn't want to admit what she did, but your body seems quite honest."
Julia felt her face burning up. She glared at him fiercely and blurted out something that made her want to find a hole to hide in. "I've taken care of you for so many days; what's wrong with charging a fee?"
"Charging a fee is fine, but Miss King, don't you think you're undercharging?" Lionel said with a look that made Julia feel confused.
She stared at him blankly and asked instinctively, "Then how do I not undercharge?"
"Come closer, and I'll tell you. Otherwise, my neck hurts talking like this," Lionel said slyly.
Without thinking much, Julia walked over. By the time she realized something was wrong and tried to run away, it was too late. Lionel grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.
"Lionel, what are you doing?" Julia exclaimed.
"Nothing much, just making sure you don't run away so we can talk properly," Lionel explained with a smile. He gently coaxed her with a soft and indulgent tone, "Alright, as long as you don't run away, I'll let you go."
Julia thought about agreeing first and then running away once she was free. It was strange how Lionel still had so much strength after just waking up from a coma. Wasn't he supposed to be weak?
Unbeknownst to her, her rolling eyes betrayed her thoughts completely. Lionel suppressed his urge to laugh and threatened, "Julia, if you don't give me an explanation today, once I'm better, I'll visit your parents and tell them you're carrying my child."
