The next two days were calm and peaceful.
The issue of the Mercer Group's confidential information leak had subsided online.
However, it was still a hot topic within the Mercer Group.
Since taking over the investigation, Donald had not stopped working.
He had scrutinized all the company's surveillance footage, including the people around Logan.
Even Deanna had been called in for questioning.
Another two days passed in the blink of an eye.
That day, Deanna arrived at the company as usual. But as soon as she reached her office, two tall bodyguards appeared.
"Miss Jones, please come with us to the conference room."
"... Alright."
Deanna was slightly taken aback but nodded in agreement, feeling a bit puzzled.
What could have happened that required two bodyguards to escort her?
And perhaps it was just her imagination, but she felt that the bodyguards looked at her with a hint of disdain.
Lost in thought, they arrived at the conference room.
"Miss Jones, please go in."
The bodyguard opened the door to the conference room.
Deanna nodded and stepped inside.
As soon as she entered, she noticed everyone looking at her with various expressions.
Some were angry, some frowned, and others were full of confusion and doubt.
Feeling strange under these gazes, Deanna instinctively looked at Logan, only to find him and Old Mercer staring at her with complex expressions.
At that moment, the door behind her closed.
The sound wasn't loud, but it snapped Deanna out of her daze.
She frowned and asked, "Why are you all looking at me like this?"
"Why? Miss Jones, don't you know?"
Donald snorted coldly, glaring at Deanna with hostility.
If one looked closely, they could see a hint of excitement in his eyes.
If today's plan succeeded, the Mercer Group would undergo a major change!
Deanna was unaware of this. She was baffled by Donald's question and looked at him in confusion. "What did I do?"
"Miss Jones, you have quite the composure. Facing so many of us, you're not flustered at all. Mr. Mercer, you have the most say in this matter. How should we handle it?"
Donald mocked Deanna before turning his attention to Logan. "This woman is the fiancée chosen by your Mercer family and brought into the company by you."
Logan heard this and cast a cold glance at Donald before looking back at the bewildered Deanna.
He couldn't tell if Deanna's confusion was genuine or an act, so he decided to lay it out plainly.
"Deanna, Mr. Joyner claims that you are responsible for leaking the company's confidential information."
"Me? How is that possible?"
Deanna was utterly shocked, pointing at herself in disbelief.
It was then that she understood why everyone had looked at her that way when she entered and why Donald had questioned her like that.
Realizing this, she quickly defended herself. "I would never do such a thing. This is slander! What benefit would I gain from doing this?"
By the end of her statement, Deanna was visibly agitated and angrily glared at Donald.
"Mr. Joyner, you need evidence to back up your claims. I won't accept baseless accusations!"
"Who said I don't have evidence? If you want to see it, fine, I'll show you!"
Donald wasn't angry at Deanna's words; in fact, he seemed rather pleased.
Deanna noticed his subtle expression change and felt a sinking feeling in her heart.
Could he really have evidence?
As she pondered this, Donald's voice rang out again. "Miss Jones, if you want evidence, take a good look. Is this person in the surveillance footage you?"
Donald's lips curled into a smug smile as he spoke.
Everyone turned their attention to the large screen in front of them and gasped.
The screen showed footage from Logan's office, with Deanna sitting at Logan's desk, operating his computer.
Deanna was stunned.
When she regained her composure, she immediately denied it. "This is impossible! This must be fake!"
Logan and Old Mercer exchanged glances.
Logan was particularly puzzled.
After all, he had immediately investigated all company surveillance footage after the incident but hadn't found this clip.
"Miss Jones, if you don't believe it, you can have someone verify the authenticity of this video."
"I will certainly have it verified!"
Deanna gritted her teeth as she spoke.
She believed Donald was framing her.
She took out her phone and immediately called the tech team at Vortex Technology.
As she made the call, Logan voiced his own doubts.
"Where did you get this surveillance footage? Why didn't I find it during my investigation?"
"This video was discovered by chance. One of my subordinates noticed an issue with the company's surveillance system. After some checks, we found that someone had deleted some surveillance data. Fortunately for us, the person who deleted it wasn't very skilled and left traces behind. My team managed to recover the video from those traces."
