Attorney Justin began a detailed discussion with Garrett.
"So, Mr. Jones, you agree to transfer the ownership of the house, correct?"
He gazed at Garrett with wise eyes. Attorney Justin had been in the field for many years, exuding an aura of rigor and rationality.
Garrett crossed his hands, looking complex, and nodded.
"Okay," Attorney Justin said upon hearing this.
He checked the property deed again, finding no issues.
Lowering his head, he adeptly drafted two contracts, signing one and handing the other to Garrett.
Under the watchful eyes of Emily and Raphael, Garrett signed the contract.
Attorney Justin stood up, politely shook hands with Garrett, and said thoughtfully, "I'll take the property deed back. I'll apply for a new one and give it to Miss Jones."
Garrett remained silent, his expression grim, only nodding.
Leaving the café, Attorney Justin returned to Mercer Group.
He went straight to Lance's office, finding Lance standing with his back turned, evidently waiting for him.
"How did things go with the task I assigned to you?" Lance asked with closed eyes.
Attorney Justin respectfully bowed his head and said, "Garrett agreed to transfer the two properties to Miss Jones, and I have completed the task. However, he refuses to give up the shares, which Miss Jones is currently negotiating."
Upon hearing this, Lance pondered for a moment, then turned around and instructed, "There's still a need for your assistance in the future. Cooperate fully with Miss Jones and strive to secure the best interests for her."
Attorney Justin nodded solemnly, accepting the order.
"I will do my best."
At that moment, Raphael, Emily, and Garrett returned to the Jones family.
The three of them had gloomy expressions as they sat on the sofa.
Raphael and Garrett remained silent, evidently pondering Deanna's words from earlier.
Emily asked suspiciously, "Could there really be any evidence behind that old lady Deanna mentioned? If there is, why hasn't she brought it out earlier? Maybe it's just bluffing!"
She scoffed, crossing her arms with a defiant expression.
Raphael also expressed doubt, "Could what she said be false?"
Garrett spoke cautiously, "I can't be sure. Olivia is a very shrewd woman, she likes to leave herself an out. She might have something up her sleeve, so we still need to be cautious."
If there were any mistakes in this matter, it could damage the reputation of the Jones family.
Emily, feeling resentful, showed anger on her face.
"Do we really have to give the shares to Deanna? I disagree!"
She pouted, evidently upset.
Those two houses were actually given to Deanna!
Deanna didn't know what's good for her; even if she didn't want the two million, the shares must not fall into her hands!
Garrett, full of anger, looked at her impatiently.
"Emily, haven't you figured it out yet? Mercer Group has already made their move! What can we do if we don't agree? Can we compete with Mercer Group?"
Raphael also saw the situation, the cooperation they had agreed upon with Mercer Group had fallen through, and the news had not been retracted.
Clearly, Mercer Group had turned against them.
Emily remained dissatisfied, still wanting to say something, but was stopped by Raphael.
This was not the time to stir up trouble.
Furrowing his brows, Raphael also didn't want those things to fall into Deanna's hands.
Moreover, shares were more tricky than properties.
Given the current situation, there wasn't much he could say, so he reluctantly waved his hand and said, "Forget it, let's observe the situation a bit longer."
The three of them looked at each other in silence, saying no more.
Deanna returned home, and Old Ashley was anxiously waiting for her.
"Deanna, are you okay? Did they give you a hard time?"
As soon as he saw her, Old Ashley began to inquire.
She changed her shoes while saying, "I'm fine, I didn't suffer any losses. I've got the houses back, but they won't give me the shares. I lied to them, saying I have evidence of their illegal possession, and they got scared."
She blinked cunningly, like a little fox, clever and charming.
Upon hearing this, Old Ashley asked, "What now?"
Emily hadn't guessed wrong; they didn't have any evidence.
Back then, Garrett had been very thorough, leaving no trace. Even if they found clues, they couldn't do anything about it.
"We can only look for the lawyer who helped Garrett change the agreement back then," she pondered.
He was the only one who could prove these things. As long as they could find him and get him to testify, they would have a chance to turn the tables.
Old Ashley sighed, "But he's already retired, and we don't know where to find him!"
They had thought about finding him before, but to no avail. Over the years, with their difficult lives, they had no time to spare, so they hadn't thought about it again.
Now, after so many years, they didn't even know if he was still alive.
Deanna thought for a moment and said helplessly, "I'll try contacting my childhood friend to see if he can help."
Old Ashley didn't refuse. Deanna took out her phone and dialed a number she hadn't dialed in years.
"Who is this?"
A man's voice came from the other end, still familiar to her.
Deanna sighed and responded, "It's me."
The person on the other end of the phone was silent for a long time before speaking.
"You remembered to contact me."
