"Since we have to stay for another week, why don't we go back to the hotel tomorrow? It would save Miss Eula from any trouble," Deanna suggested, nestled in Lance's arms.
She thought she had hidden her intentions well, but Lance caught on.
He didn't expose her, instead smiling gently and nodding. "Alright, I'll let Eula know tomorrow, and then we'll move back to the hotel."
"Okay," Deanna agreed, then urged Lance to rest.
Lance chuckled, holding her as they lay down together. "If we sleep, we sleep together."
Deanna's expression changed slightly at his words. "You go ahead and sleep. I'll sleep later. I napped all day and feel wide awake now."
Despite her words, Deanna was actually worried about falling into the same state she had experienced during the day.
Seeing her forced calmness, Lance felt a pang of sorrow. "Silly girl, if you're tired, just sleep. Don't worry about anything else. There will always be a way. Besides, staying up all night will only harm your health."
Deanna opened her mouth to say something, but Lance spoke first. "I remember you once told me that to cure an illness, you first need to take care of your body. A strong body helps with any condition. I think this advice applies to your current situation as well."
Hearing this, Deanna swallowed her retort. She couldn't contradict her own words now.
So, she and Lance fell asleep in each other's arms.
The silvery moonlight streamed through the light curtains, casting a beautiful glow on them.
The next morning, Deanna woke up feeling relieved.
She looked at the still-sleeping man beside her, her eyes filled with tenderness. She restrained herself from touching him, knowing he was a light sleeper and any movement would wake him.
After some time, Lance felt someone watching him and suddenly opened his eyes to see Deanna propping her chin and smiling at him.
"What are you looking at?" he asked in a hoarse voice.
As he spoke, he pulled Deanna into his arms, positioning her on top of him.
Deanna lay on his chest and raised an eyebrow. "What? I'm not allowed to look at you?"
"No," Lance denied immediately, then changed the subject. "When did you wake up?"
Deanna laughed. "I've been awake for a while. You looked so peaceful sleeping that I couldn't help but watch you."
She pushed herself off his chest and got up. "Alright, since we're awake, let's get ready. After breakfast, we'll say goodbye to Miss Eula."
"Whatever you say," Lance agreed with a smile.
Later, after getting dressed, they went downstairs and saw Gunner and Eula chatting in the living room.
"Good morning, Master," Deanna greeted cheerfully.
She didn't forget to greet Eula as well.
Seeing Deanna looking energetic, Gunner's worry lessened a bit but he still asked with concern, "How are you feeling today?"
"I'm fine. I don't feel any discomfort," Deanna replied honestly.
Gunner observed her closely and nodded when he saw she wasn't hiding anything. "Pay attention to your condition over the next few days. If you feel unwell at all, call a doctor or come to me immediately. Lance Boy, remember this too."
He directed his last words at Lance.
Lance nodded. "Don't worry, Mr. Martinez. I'll keep an eye on Deanna's condition."
Feeling ignored by their conversation, Eula's face darkened slightly.
Since taking over the family, she had never been so disregarded!
But to maintain her good image in front of Lance, Eula kept a gentle expression despite her anger.
"It's good that Miss Jones is alright. When you had your incident earlier, Lance was so worried he couldn't sleep all night," she said with a fake smile.
Deanna noticed and pretended to be shy. "I know about that. I even scolded him afterward. But he said he couldn't think of anything else without seeing me awake."
Eula was speechless and deeply frustrated.
She had only mentioned it casually to assert her presence but didn't expect Deanna to shamelessly flaunt it in front of her.
Barely maintaining her smile, Eula quickly changed the subject. "Speaking of which, I didn't expect your master to be Mr. Martinez. No wonder Lance told me last year that he found a way to treat him. Thank you for saving my good buddy, Miss Jones"
After speaking, she signaled the butler beside her.
The butler understood and immediately brought over an exquisite gift box from the table and presented it to Deanna with both hands.
