Lance listened to Eula's words and remembered that it did seem to be the case.
He nodded and said, "I'll stay here for the night."
"Then I'll have the servants tidy up a room," Eula said, smiling as she instructed the butler beside her, "Arrange for two people to prepare Lance's room and bring over a set of my spare skincare products. They might be useful when Miss Jones wakes up."
She said the last sentence deliberately to gain a bit of favor from Lance. Unfortunately, Lance's attention was entirely on the unconscious Deanna.
Seeing this, Eula's smile faded slightly. She waved her hand at the butler, signaling him to leave. The butler nodded and turned to make the arrangements.
At this time, the medical team had finished drawing blood. Angelo nodded to Lance and Eula before leaving the living room with the other members.
Watching the man who immediately went to Deanna's side, a dark glint flashed in Eula's eyes. She stepped forward and said with concern, "Since Angelo didn't find any issues, I think Miss Jones should be fine. You don't need to worry too much."
"I know. Thank you for tonight," Lance replied, but his gaze never left Deanna.
Eula felt uncomfortable but didn't say anything more. She knew that no matter what she said or did now, Lance wouldn't appreciate it.
A few minutes later, the butler returned to report, "The room is ready."
Eula nodded and was about to inform Lance when she saw him already lifting Deanna from the sofa.
"It's late. You should rest early too," Lance said politely, bidding Eula goodnight.
To Eula, these words meant something different. Lance saying goodnight to her suggested that she still held a certain place in his heart. The more she thought about it, the more convinced she became, strengthening her resolve to win Lance back.
In her view, Deanna had only taken advantage of her inability to go abroad to seduce Lance. But ultimately, she believed she was the one most suited for him.
Eula watched Lance's departing figure until he disappeared at the staircase. Then she took out her phone and sent a message.
Around three or four in the morning, Deanna's blood test results came out. Angelo took the report and knocked on a door on the third floor.
"Come in," a low, slightly seductive voice called from inside.
Angelo opened the door and saw his mistress getting out of bed in a black silk nightgown, her fair skin glowing under the light.
"The report is out," he said, lowering his head and handing over the results without looking directly at her.
Eula took the report but didn't look at it. She asked coldly, "What's Deanna's situation?"
"Miss Jones has no issues; her blood is completely normal," Angelo reported truthfully.
Eula frowned slightly. "Completely normal?"
"Yes," Angelo confirmed again.
Hearing this, Eula was displeased. If Deanna was fine, Lance might leave tomorrow. Moreover, if there was nothing wrong, why had someone drugged Deanna and left injection marks?
Eula had many questions but didn't waste time. She gestured to Angelo, "Come with me to find Lance. But change the story; say we couldn't find anything and need a few days for observation."
"Yes," Angelo nodded and followed Eula out of the room.
Soon, they arrived outside Lance's door. Just as Angelo was about to knock, the door opened from inside.
Lance stood there in the same clothes he had arrived in. He looked at them and asked in a deep voice, "Are the results out?"
"Yes, King. Here is the report," Angelo handed over the report and continued, "According to the results, Miss Jones's blood is normal, but I find this unusual."
Even without Angelo's comment, Lance found the results strange. Deanna had clearly been injected with something. It made no sense for someone to go through so much trouble just to knock her out without any further action.
As Lance pondered this, Eula spoke up. "Could it be that what was injected is something new that regular tests can't detect? Maybe you should stay a few more days until Miss Jones's body metabolizes it. We can then test again and perhaps find something."
