"Let's get a divorce."
Now that Emily's shares in Jones Group were all in his hands, and he had made numerous connections tonight, Raphael felt there was no need to stay tied to Emily and risk dragging the Howard family down with her.
Emily's eyes widened in disbelief at Raphael's words.
She growled incredulously, "You want to divorce me? I don't agree!"
"It doesn't matter if you agree or not. When we get back, I'll have my assistant draft the divorce papers. Given what you've done and the impact on Howard Group, you won't get any compensation. I'll have someone send you away shortly and arrange for your return home."
Raphael spoke with finality, taking out his phone to contact his assistant.
He had no intention of letting Emily stay any longer. If Lance found out anything, it would spell trouble for him, and tonight's efforts would be wasted.
Seeing this, Emily quickly snatched the phone from him and smashed it to the ground, shouting angrily, "I won't go back, and I won't divorce you!"
Her outburst drew frowns from the surrounding guests who had been conversing nearby.
A waiter, noticing the commotion, approached them with concern, "Are you two alright?"
"We're fine. Sorry for the disturbance. Please continue."
Raphael shook his head at the waiter and offered an apologetic smile to the guests around them.
Seeing his polite demeanor, the guests refrained from commenting further.
But Emily wasn't done. "Who said everything's fine? Raphael, you want to divorce me and leave me with nothing? No way!"
She pointed at Raphael, her eyes blazing with anger as she continued to vent her frustration.
"Don't think I don't know what you're up to. Now that you think I'm worthless and have made connections with powerful people tonight, you want to kick me out and marry one of their daughters... Ah!"
Emily screamed as Raphael slapped her to the ground.
Raphael glared at her with disgust, gritting his teeth. "Are you calm now?"
"You dare hit me?!"
Emily ignored Raphael's words, covering her face and glaring at him with hatred.
Suddenly, she sprang up from the ground and charged at Raphael.
Caught off guard by her sudden move, Raphael lost his balance and fell to the ground.
Emily seized the opportunity, straddling Raphael and clawing at his head. "How dare you divorce me after tricking me out of my shares! I will never agree!"
"Emily, stop it!"
Raphael dodged her attacks while shouting angrily.
But Emily was too consumed by rage to listen.
The surrounding people backed away, afraid of getting caught in the fight.
Some pointed and whispered about Emily and Raphael.
A waiter nearby seemed to receive some instruction and signaled to a colleague.
Four waiters approached; two grabbed Emily by the arms and dragged her off Raphael.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!"
Emily struggled fiercely as she was restrained.
Meanwhile, two other waiters helped Raphael to his feet.
He had never been so disheveled or humiliated, especially at such an important event as an international business conference.
His gaze towards Emily was dark and menacing.
"Emily, you're asking for it!" Raphael roared, ready to teach her a lesson.
But as he moved, the waiters blocked him.
One waiter spoke sternly, "Sir, this is a public place. If you need to handle personal matters, please do so outside without disturbing others."
He gestured for them to leave.
Raphael felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him, instantly calming him down.
Now was not the time to argue with Emily. Building connections with international enterprises was crucial.
After all, attending this business conference was a rare opportunity. Who knew if there would be another chance? He couldn't let Emily ruin it.
"Fine, I won't stoop to her level. I'll have someone take her back. May I borrow your phone?"
Raphael asked politely.
The waiter didn't budge. "I'm sorry, sir. Perhaps I wasn't clear earlier. Please leave now; it's not a request but an instruction from the organizers. Please follow me with your wife."
His tone left no room for negotiation.
Raphael's already strained expression turned darker with embarrassment.
For the first time in his life, he was being publicly expelled.
