After looking at the photos, the woman put down her phone. Her fiery red lips parted slightly as she said, "Have our people keep an eye on them."
"Yes."
The bodyguard standing beside her nodded in agreement.
At that moment, the woman waved her hand, signaling for the bodyguard to leave.
Listening to the footsteps fade away, the woman played with the phone in her hand.
Soon after, she picked up the phone again and dialed a number.
Meanwhile, Lance's phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID, frowned slightly, and hesitated to answer.
Deanna noticed and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just need to take this call."
Lance put the phone to his ear and spoke coldly, "What is it?"
"I heard you're in Espuenia. Why didn't you let me know so we could catch up? Do I have to come find you myself?"
A seductive voice came from the other end of the line.
Lance replied indifferently, "It's not convenient. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now."
Without giving the person a chance to respond, he hung up the phone.
He put away his phone, took Deanna's hand again, and said gently, "It's nothing. Let's go."
"Alright."
Deanna smiled and nodded at him, but there was a hint of doubt in her eyes.
She couldn't shake the feeling that Lance's attitude towards the call was strange. It seemed like he didn't want to talk to the caller but felt he had to.
She dismissed the thought quickly. Given Lance's status and personality, no one could force him into anything.
Soon, Deanna pushed these thoughts aside and focused on enjoying their time together.
In two days, they had almost visited all the attractions in the capital.
Of course, they also took many photos and bought numerous souvenirs to bring back for their children and grandmother.
...
On the third day, while Deanna and Lance were out exploring, Amy called.
"Lance, I heard you and Deanna are in Espuenia?"
"Yes, we're here for the international business conference."
Lance explained briefly.
Amy knew about this business conference. It was held every three years and was mostly an excuse for a bunch of wealthy people to show off and brag without accomplishing much.
"I remember this conference starts in two days."
"Yes, it starts in two days. We came early to give Deanna a break."
Lance said, then changed the subject. "Is there something you need, Aunt?"
Amy got straight to the point. "It's nothing urgent. I heard from your parents that you're in Espuenia. Your wedding dresses are ready, and I wanted you both to come try them on. If there are any issues, we can still make adjustments."
"In that case, give me the address. I'll bring Deanna over this afternoon."
Lance agreed to Amy's invitation.
After getting the address from Amy, they ended the call.
Putting down his phone, Lance looked at Deanna's questioning eyes and smiled. "It was Aunt Amy. She asked if we were in the capital and said our wedding dresses were ready. She wants us to try them on this afternoon."
"Great."
Deanna nodded in agreement, feeling excited inside.
After all, every woman dreams about wearing her wedding dress at least once in her life.
That afternoon, Lance took Deanna to an estate in the suburbs.
As soon as they got out of the car, Deanna was stunned by the picturesque scenery before her.
"It's so beautiful."
She exclaimed in awe.
In front of her, an ornate black and gold iron gate slowly opened, revealing a fairy-tale-like courtyard inside.
Music fountains, exquisite stone sculptures, and blooming flowers were arranged beautifully throughout the courtyard.
At that moment, a vintage carriage emerged from around a garden corner and stopped in front of Deanna and Lance.
"Mr. Mercer, Missus, I am Chels, the butler here. Madam is waiting for you in the living room. Please get on the carriage."
A handsome middle-aged man jumped down from the carriage as he spoke.
Lance nodded at him. "Uncle Chels, long time no see."
"Hello."
Deanna also greeted him politely with a nod.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, they got on the carriage.
As they admired the scenery along the way, Deanna had a question on her mind.
She leaned closer to Lance and whispered so only he could hear, "I noticed there's a road for cars here. Why did Aunt Amy send a carriage for us?"
"Just think of it as one of Aunt Amy's quirky ideas."
Lance smiled faintly at her.
Deanna blinked, not quite understanding his words at first.
A few seconds later, she couldn't help but smile softly. "Is it really okay for you to talk about Aunt Amy like that behind her back?"
"As long as you don't tell her, she won't know. Besides, I'm not wrong."
Lance pulled her into his arms and raised an eyebrow at her. "This estate was built when Aunt Amy was in her third year of college after watching an anime. She had it recreated exactly as it was in the show. To preserve its beauty, she doesn't allow any cars inside."
