Bella had no idea what was happening on Deanna's side.
After signing the cooperation agreement, they stayed in Klidphis for two more days before returning to Cloudmere.
On the day they returned, it was the weekend, and the two little ones were at the manor.
Julia was also there.
Before Deanna left, she was worried about leaving the elderly and the two little ones alone at home, so she called her best friend to keep them company and to be able to contact her immediately if anything happened.
The two little ones were overjoyed to see their mommy and daddy return and rushed over.
"Daddy, Mommy, you're back!"
"Yes, we're back. Have you been good at home?"
Deanna bent down to hug Chloe, who had run over first.
Gregory was a step behind and was held by Lance, but he was still very happy.
He looked up at Lance with his big, round eyes, full of expectation.
Lance knew exactly what he was thinking and affectionately tapped his nose. "Don't worry, we bought you gifts. They're with your Uncle Xavier."
"Thank you, Daddy! I'm going to see the gifts."
With that, Gregory wriggled out of Lance's arms.
Seeing this, Chloe also hurried to follow.
Deanna had no choice but to let her go.
Watching the two little ones holding hands and bouncing around Xavier, who had just entered, she smiled indulgently.
Just as she withdrew her gaze, a pair of fair hands appeared in front of her, followed by her best friend's playful face.
"Gregory and Chloe got gifts. Do I, the hardworking housekeeper who watched over your home, get a gift too?"
Although Julia said this, her expression clearly showed that she wouldn't let it go if she didn't get a gift.
Deanna chuckled. "How could I forget your gift? It's with Mr. Nelson."
Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the two little ones came bouncing back with several branded shopping bags.
Chloe proudly handed one of the bags to Julia. "Godmother, this is a gift from Uncle Xavier for you."
"Wow, it's the latest from Chanel! Deanna, you're so thoughtful!"
The latest products from Chanel are not only expensive but also hard to get even if you have money.
No wonder Julia was so happy.
Seeing this, Deanna didn't take credit but said honestly, "If you want to thank someone, thank Lance's aunt. If it weren't for Amy, I wouldn't have been able to get the latest from Chanel."
"I'll thank Amy when I see her," Julia responded happily.
Deanna nodded.
After they chatted in the living room for a while, it was getting late.
After dinner, Julia proposed to leave.
Deanna wanted her to stay another night, but Julia refused no matter what.
Seeing her friend's eagerness to leave, Deanna felt a bit puzzled. "Why does it feel like she's running away..."
She couldn't help but frown and mutter, "Did she teach Gregory and Chloe some bad habits while I was away?"
"Would she?"
Lance raised an eyebrow.
Deanna nodded affirmatively. "I think she would. After all, she has a history!"
With that, she turned back to the living room to question the two little ones.
Facing her questions, their eyes flickered guiltily for a moment but quickly settled down as they firmly denied it.
"Godmother didn't teach us anything strange."
"Mommy, why are you asking this?"
Chloe blinked innocently.
Whether it was because they were good at covering up or not, Deanna couldn't find any issues and had to say honestly, "No reason. Just thought your Godmother was acting a bit strange today. She usually doesn't refuse when I ask her to stay."
The two little ones exchanged glances upon hearing this.
To prevent their mommy from suspecting further, they thoughtfully pulled her along and changed the subject. "Godmother probably had something come up suddenly. Mommy, you must be tired from flying today. We'll go run a bath for you so you can relax."
Without giving Deanna a chance to refuse, they pulled her upstairs.
Watching them leave, Lance smiled and was about to follow when he heard Old Ashley's voice.
"Lance, Deanna is an excellent child, and so are you. Excellent people always attract attention, but what matters is that you're connected. Do you understand what I mean?"
"I understand. Don't worry, Grandma. I trust Deanna and myself."
Lance nodded gently, knowing she was referring to Lionel from the research institute liking Deanna.
As for how Grandma found out about it, he figured it must have been the two little ones who told her.
