After hanging up the phone, Deanna's face showed signs of distress.
She couldn't understand what she had done to offend the president of Zeus Group.
The only thing she felt relieved about was that the research institute had not yet started renovations, giving her some time to deal with the equipment.
Later, when Lance returned, he saw Deanna sitting on the sofa with a worried expression.
He walked over with concern and asked, "What's wrong?"
"You're back," Deanna replied with a forced smile, not mentioning her troubles.
She believed she could handle it herself and didn't want to trouble Lance, who had already done so much for her.
Lance looked at Deanna's forced smile and could easily guess her thoughts.
A hint of helplessness flashed in his eyes, but he didn't press further, knowing he had other ways to find out what was going on.
Seeing that he didn't pursue the matter, Deanna breathed a sigh of relief and quickly changed the subject. "Are you done with your work?"
"There's still a bit left. I should be finished around five," Lance replied, thinking about his tasks.
Deanna nodded and smiled. "Five is perfect. We can pick up Gregory and Chloe, then head to the restaurant to meet Brent."
Lance nodded with a smile as Deanna laid out all the plans.
Then, Deanna urged him to get back to work.
Lance nodded and walked to his desk.
After sitting down, he sent a message to Xavier before starting his work.
A little past five, Lance finally finished his work.
He and Deanna went together to pick up the kids.
The children were overjoyed to see both their parents coming to get them.
"Daddy, Mommy, why are you both here today?"
"Are you happy?" Deanna asked with a smile.
The kids nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, very happy!"
Seeing them jumping around excitedly, Deanna and Lance's faces were filled with affection.
Once in the car, Deanna mentioned the dinner plans.
"Tonight, I will introduce you to someone. He is your grandmaster's trusted assistant. When you meet him, be polite and greet him properly, okay?"
"Okay," the children nodded obediently.
Chloe couldn't help but ask, "Is Grandmaster back?"
Gregory also looked at Deanna expectantly.
Deanna sighed and said, "Your grandmaster can't come back yet."
"Alright," the children said, disappointed.
Later, the family arrived in the old town.
Brent had already received the message and walked out of the courtyard.
Seeing the children get out of the car, he smiled kindly. "These must be Master Gregory and Miss Chloe."
"Gregory and Chloe, this is your grandmaster's trusted assistant. You can call him Brent," Deanna introduced them.
The children nodded politely and greeted him. "Hello, Brent."
"Good, good," Brent said with a smile that deepened his wrinkles.
He then took out two ornate boxes and handed them to the children. "Here, these are gifts for you."
"Brent, there's no need for gifts," Deanna said, surprised by his gesture and trying to refuse.
Brent pretended to be upset. "What? Do you think my gifts aren't good enough for Master Gregory and Miss Chloe?"
"Of course not..." Deanna began to explain but was cut off by Brent. "Then let them accept it."
Deanna had no choice but to let the children take the gifts.
"Don't forget to thank Brent," she reminded them.
The children nodded and thanked him politely. "Thank you, Brent."
"No need to thank me," Brent replied with a kind smile.
He then looked at Lance and subtly sized him up while saying, "This must be Deanna's husband."
"Hello," Lance said, extending his hand politely.
Brent shook his hand briefly before letting go and nodding in approval. "Not bad. A capable young man. When Master Gunner returns, he'll probably like you very much."
"I look forward to meeting Deanna's master in person and thanking him for taking care of Deanna and our children over the years," Lance said earnestly.
Brent nodded with a smile. "There will be an opportunity."
After some small talk, they all headed to the restaurant.
During dinner, the children curiously asked about Deanna's master's activities abroad.
Brent shared what he could.
Even so, the children listened intently, amazed by their master's achievements in saving so many people.
Deanna, however, picked up on something different in Brent's words and felt a sense of worry.
