Facing the man's approaching face, Deanna felt a bad premonition rising in her heart.
She knew that if she didn't appease this man, she would be the one to suffer later.
"I was wrong, it's not you who's thick-skinned, it's me, it's me, hehe."
Deanna smiled ingratiatingly at Lance.
Seeing this, a hint of amusement flashed in Lance's eyes, but he remained stern and unapproachable.
He raised his eyebrows and pursued the matter deliberately, "But what I heard just now didn't seem like that."
"You might have heard wrong. It's getting late, I'm really hungry, let's go eat."
Deanna awkwardly changed the subject and pulled Lance to leave.
Lance noticed Deanna's guilty look and the amusement in his eyes grew stronger.
Of course, he didn't stop her because he knew that if he continued to press the issue, Deanna would definitely get angry.
The meal was incredibly warm and pleasant.
After lunch, Deanna didn't leave immediately but followed Lance back to Mercer Group and took a nap in the office lounge.
Lance woke up after about an hour of sleep.
He looked at the still-sleeping Deanna, knowing she had been busy these days, so he didn't wake her up.
He gently kissed her forehead and quietly got out of bed, leaving the lounge.
Little did he know, as soon as he left, the previously sleeping Deanna opened her eyes.
Deanna smiled as she looked in the direction Lance had left, snuggling into the blanket that still carried his scent.
She turned over and hugged the blanket, falling back asleep.
However, she wasn't asleep for long before her phone rang and woke her up.
The call was from Sabrina, reporting on the purchase of research instruments.
"Miss Jones, all the machines you requested have been ordered except for the PHG4 model."
"Is the PHG4 out of stock?" Deanna asked with a frown.
Among these instruments, the PHG4 was the most important.
Sabrina explained, "The manufacturer told me it's out of stock, but I heard from a friend that they do have it. They just don't want to sell it to us for some reason."
Hearing this, Deanna frowned even more and asked, "Besides this manufacturer, are there no other dealers selling the PHG4 domestically?"
"I checked, there's only this one," Sabrina reported truthfully.
Deanna's heart sank and she instructed, "Send me the manufacturer's information. I'll see if I can find time to visit them in person in the next couple of days."
"Okay, I'll send it to your email shortly."
After Sabrina finished speaking, she hung up.
Soon after, Deanna received an email from her.
Deanna got up, washed up quickly, and walked out of the lounge with her phone.
When she went out, she found the office empty. She didn't mind and walked to Lance's desk where she found a note he left for her: "I'm in a meeting. If you get bored when you wake up, I've asked the secretary to bring snacks and a laptop with downloaded TV shows and movies on the coffee table."
After reading the note, Deanna looked up and indeed saw snacks and a laptop on the coffee table. She couldn't help but smile sweetly.
She then walked over to the sofa.
Sitting down, she casually grabbed a snack and opened the laptop to check her email for Sabrina's information.
The PHG4 model was developed by Zeus Medical Instrument Group from Vlover. It was a precision extraction and analysis instrument with extremely low error tolerance in data, making it the best extraction analysis equipment globally.
Reading this, Deanna couldn't help but feel puzzled.
Why wouldn't Zeus Group sell her the instrument?
She couldn't figure it out. She didn't know anyone at Zeus Group; there was no reason for her to have offended them.
Thinking about this, Deanna took out her phone and contacted Sabrina again. "See if you can get in touch with someone at Zeus Group and find out when their president will be available. I'd like to visit."
"Okay."
Sabrina nodded and hung up to make contact.
Not long after, she called back with results. "Miss Jones, I contacted Zeus Group. They told me their president went abroad on a business trip yesterday with no definite return date."
Hearing this, Deanna frowned deeply again.
For some reason, she had a feeling that Zeus Group's president went abroad to avoid her. Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence?
With this thought in mind, Deanna's eyes grew deeper.
"Try to get me Mr. Pratt's contact information. I'll reach out to him personally."
She instructed Sabrina again.
Sabrina apologized, "I asked Zeus Group employees for Mr. Pratt's contact information, but they said they can't give it out without his permission."
