Hearing the voice, Lance released Deanna and looked up at the sky together.
Brilliant fireworks bloomed one after another, forming various shapes in the air.
There were hearts, the word "LOVE," and meteor-like patterns, all breathtakingly beautiful.
"So beautiful," Deanna admired.
Lance, hearing this, held her and gently asked, "Do you like it?"
Deanna nodded vigorously.
She thought that no woman could dislike such a proposal scene.
Seeing the sweet smile on Deanna's face, Lance's eyes overflowed with tenderness.
He didn't disturb her further but accompanied her to enjoy the fireworks.
After almost ten minutes, the fireworks finally ended.
Reluctantly, Deanna withdrew her gaze and turned to look at the handsome man beside her, smiling happily. "Thank you."
Thank you for everything you've done for me.
Lance looked back at Deanna, his eyes filled with tenderness, almost drowning her in it.
Their eyes met, and it seemed like everything else blurred away, leaving only each other.
The air around them was filled with the sweet scent of love, centered on them.
Others, sensing the intimate atmosphere, tactfully left.
Julia warmly took Old Ashley's arm and said playfully, "Grandma, let me help you walk."
"Thank you," Old Ashley replied with a smile.
Julia shook her head, thinking it was nothing.
Just as she was about to leave with Old Ashley, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that Landon was still standing in the same spot, staring at Deanna and Lance. Her expression dimmed slightly.
A few minutes later, Julia heard Landon's somber voice in her ear.
"So, you still haven't let go of Deanna?"
"When I met Deanna, she already had a fiancé. I could only hide my feelings. I always thought I wouldn't have a chance. But one day, I learned that Deanna's engagement was called off. I knew my chance had come. Even though she lost her virginity and was pregnant with an unknown man's child, I still wanted to marry her. But then she suddenly disappeared without a trace."
Landon's voice was filled with unwillingness and sadness.
Julia's lips moved slightly; she suddenly didn't know what to say.
At that moment, Landon's voice continued in her ear. "I searched for Deanna like a madman for five years but found no trace of her. Initially, I suspected you knew something since you were her only close friend. But when I couldn't get any information from you, I stopped suspecting you. I didn't expect you to deceive me. By the time I got news of Deanna again, it was too late."
When Landon said this, he turned to look at Julia.
His dark eyes made Julia feel uneasy.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
She took a step back, warily watching the man in front of her.
Landon stared at her and said softly, "To be honest, sometimes I really resent you. You knew I liked Deanna but still helped her hide from me."
Hearing this, Julia's face turned pale. Landon's words echoed in her ears.
"Julia, I actually resent you."
"I... I didn't think that much at the time. Deanna begged me not to tell anyone."
Julia tried to defend herself but realized how weak her words sounded.
She pursed her lips and stood straight in front of Landon, waiting for him to vent his anger.
But she waited a long time without hearing him continue to scold her.
Confused, she looked over and saw that Landon wasn't paying attention to her at all. Instead, he was gazing longingly at Deanna's back.
At that moment, she felt as if countless needles were piercing her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.
She had a secret that no one knew.
She liked Landon-this seemingly carefree but deeply affectionate man.
But unfortunately, she wasn't his type. So she carefully guarded her feelings, rationally keeping herself from crossing the line.
Because she feared that if she revealed her feelings, they wouldn't even remain friends.
And Deanna knew nothing about this.
Hand in hand with Lance, Deanna strolled through the sea of flowers, admiring the exquisite lanterns around them. Suddenly, she laughed and said, "These arrangements were all suggested by Julia, right? What did you promise Julia?"
As soon as she said this, she seemed to remember something and exclaimed, "Oh right, that figurine!"
Lance didn't deny it.
"Yes, it was that figurine."
"You are so generous. No wonder Julia switched sides."
Deanna playfully glared at him.
Seeing her charming expression, Lance couldn't help but pull her hand to his lips and kiss it. "Just a little money. And it's for you; I'm happy to spend it."
"Smooth talker!"
Despite her words, Deanna's fair cheeks blushed again, making her even more attractive.
Soon they reached the end of the flower sea and saw an open-air pavilion.
