Chapter 65 I Shouldn't Have Given Birth to Her

After a while, the police who had left earlier returned and handed Garrett his ID back.

"Sir, we've verified your identity. You are indeed the grandfather of the two children."

The police seemed somewhat helpless, probably another family dispute.

Garrett didn't dare to be reckless and respectfully asked, "Can I leave now? Staying here is suffocating me."

Being stared at by people, he felt embarrassed, as if he would burst out laughing involuntarily.

Following the procedure, the police told him, "Go make a phone call to your family and have them bail you out."

Garrett nodded quickly.

Before leaving, the police also warned him, "Next time you pick up the children, don't use aggressive means again."

The children probably didn't like him for a reason.

Garrett couldn't argue with that, he just smiled and nodded, thanking the police, "Okay, I won't do that again. Thank you, officers, for the trouble."

Later, Raphael and Emily came together.

They showed their IDs, and Raphael went to coordinate with the police and handle the necessary procedures.

"Dad!"

Emily, wearing a mask, called out eagerly as soon as she saw Garrett.

Today, he said he was going to negotiate with Deanna, but he hadn't come back for a long time, and his phone was unreachable.

They were worried sick, and finally received his call only to find out he was at the police station.

Seeing there were police officers nearby, she didn't inquire further.

After all, family matters shouldn't be made public.

Garrett's face turned grim, sighing, "It's a long story, let's talk about it later."

After they came out and got into the car, Emily asked, "What happened exactly? How did you end up at the police station?"

Raphael remained silent, looking at Garrett.

Garrett explained, "I knew that if Deanna couldn't get hold of the property, she wouldn't relent. So, I thought of bringing the two illegitimate children here, to make her agree to let you go. But on the way, we ran into Lance, and he took them away. Then they called a bunch of people and accused me of being a human trafficker, so I got taken away."

At this point, he slammed the car seat hard, "Damn it!"

Emily, hearing this, looked indignant.

How could Mr. Mercer just happen to show up?

Deanna must have called him again.

This Deanna, always making life difficult for her.

"Sister, how could she be like this? It's really outrageous! You're her real father!"

She complained.

Garrett also slammed the car hard, angrily saying, "This unfilial daughter! I shouldn't have given birth to her!"

Emily was worried again, having made a trip in vain.

Raphael sighed and calmly said, "Let's go back first. We'll discuss specific solutions later."

They tacitly agreed and the three returned to the Jones family.

After dinner, Deanna and the two children stood up, ready to leave.

"We're leaving. Thank you, Mr. Mercer."

After thanking Deanna, the two children bid farewell to him on their own initiative, "Goodbye, Uncle."

"It's too late. Let me take you."

Seeing the dark sky, Lance said in a deep voice.

"No need, I'll just take a cab."

Having troubled Mr. Mercer so many times already, she didn't want to bother him again.

Lance insisted, "You're carrying two children, it's not convenient."

If Garrett comes to bother them again tonight, at least he'll be there to help.

His face was calm, his gaze sharp, and Deanna couldn't refuse, so she reluctantly agreed.

"Alright."

The two children glanced at each other, quite happy.

They naturally wanted to spend more time with the handsome uncle.

There was a distance to the parking lot from here.

This area was also a commercial district, crowded at this time.

Deanna was worried the children might get lost, so she held one hand of each, with Lance walking beside them.

Amidst the crowd, Chloe was pushed and fell to the ground.

"Ouch!"

She exclaimed, and Deanna quickly helped her up, looking nervous.

"Chloe, are you okay? Did you hurt your leg?"

She felt guilty. How could she let her daughter fall right under her nose?

Chloe shook her head, dusted off her clothes calmly, and said, "Mommy, I'm fine."

Her legs weren't hurt either.

Lance walked over, bent down, and picked her up.

"Hmm?"

Chloe was puzzled, looking at the suddenly higher view.

Seeing Deanna's surprised expression, Lance explained, "Let me carry her, it's safer."

Chloe had a leg injury and wasn't walking properly.

He was also worried she might get hurt again.

Chloe's eyes lit up, holding onto his neck and not letting go.

Uncle's embrace was warm and broad, even safer than mommy's embrace!

And it felt like having a dad.

Deanna didn't insist anymore, thanking him, "Thank you, Mr. Mercer."

With so many people around, it was indeed safer.

Parents carrying their children were also much more relieved.

"Mommy."

Gregory looked at Chloe being carried in Lance's arms, pouting, and opened his arms to Deanna.

He also wanted to be carried.

Deanna smiled gently, "Come, mommy will carry you!"

She bent down and picked up her son.

The group walked to the parking lot like this.
