Chapter 629: Training Deanna

"Yes," Matteo nodded repeatedly and then took the initiative to say, "I will immediately have someone investigate this matter. Once we find out the cause, we will explain online that this has nothing to do with Vortex Technology."

However, Lance was not satisfied with his response.

"We can't wait until you find out the cause. Clarify this matter online right now."

"Yes, I will have someone clarify it immediately."

Matteo didn't dare to have any objections and could only comply.

Lance was finally satisfied and stood up with Deanna, ready to leave. "Since the matter is resolved, we won't disturb Mr. Bryant's work any longer."

"Alright, I will see Mr. Mercer and Miss Jones downstairs."

Matteo quickly got up to see them off, feeling relieved.

He thought the matter was over.

Little did he know, it was far from over.

On the way back, Xavier received feedback from his subordinates and frowned deeply. He turned to report, "Mr. Mercer, you asked me to investigate FY Trading Company earlier. We just got the results."

"Oh, what did you find?" Lance asked nonchalantly.

Deanna, however, looked very concerned.

Xavier reported truthfully, "Matteo and Mia, Missus's stepmother, were college classmates. The day before the incident, Mia met with Matteo."

"It's they who cause trouble again!" Deanna's face darkened instantly.

Lance's eyes narrowed dangerously. "It seems the Jones family has been too idle lately. Xavier, find something for them to do."

"Yes," Xavier nodded in agreement.

Deanna didn't stop him.

She wished more than anyone for the Jones family to be in chaos. If possible, she even hoped they would disappear entirely.

But she knew that wasn't realistic.

Even if Lance had the ability, she didn't want him involved in her grudge with the Jones family.

Those people weren't worth Lance's effort.

One day, she would become strong enough to deal with them herself.

Lance was unaware of Deanna's thoughts.

He looked at her in concern and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just annoyed that the Jones family keeps lingering like a bad smell," Deanna said with disgust on her face.

Lance agreed that the Jones family was indeed annoying, always trying to make their presence known.

Thinking about it, he said coldly, "Don't be upset by these people. If you don't want to see them, I can drive them out of Cloudmere."

"No need to drive them out. I still need to investigate my mother's death. If they leave, it will be harder to investigate," Deanna shook her head and changed the subject.

She brought up FY Trading Company. "Since the Jones family is involved in this matter, I plan to terminate our cooperation with them."

"That's a good idea. And not just terminate the contract; you can also sue them for defamation and demand compensation. They wouldn't dare refuse," Lance advised Deanna on how to take advantage of the situation in business.

Deanna listened attentively.

Later, they returned to the company.

By then, Lance had taught her enough and continued with their interrupted second step plan. "Since we visited FY Trading Company today, starting tomorrow, we will visit one client per day to understand their system situation and expand your network. In business, connections are indispensable."

"I understand. Should we bring technical staff with us?" Deanna asked humbly.

Lance chuckled and flicked her forehead lightly. "Of course. Without technical staff, how will you maintain their systems?"

"That hurt," Deanna pouted, rubbing her forehead and glaring at him.

Unfortunately for her, Lance didn't fall for it. He knew exactly how much force he used.

He continued, "Additionally, I will accompany you for the first two visits, but after that, you'll have to go alone."

He arranged it this way to train Deanna's abilities.

Lance noticed that Deanna had become very dependent on him for managing the company.

While this wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it wasn't conducive to her growth. He wanted her to become independent.

Deanna didn't understand Lance's intentions.

Hearing that he wouldn't accompany her later made her feel inexplicably anxious.

"Can't you come with me?" she asked pitifully.

Lance felt a pang of guilt but remained firm.

He explained his observations to Deanna. "Haven't you noticed that you've become increasingly dependent on me for managing the company?"

Deanna was stunned and replayed recent events in her mind.

It seemed she had indeed become very reliant on Lance.

Initially, she sought Lance's help to learn how to manage the company independently and carry on her mother's legacy.

But now she found herself asking Lance for help with everything, which wasn't a good sign.
